    Found your channel a few weeks ago and have enjoyed all of your shows. I was one of the early "hackers" that got started using my computer to dial every local phone number and see if I could find a modem. I had a red box (radio shack dialer with a 6.5536mhz crystal swap) and got in quote a bit of trouble for exploiting the credit system. I can relate to a lot of the stories you've shared.

    This is a great interview!
    I didn't read the title because I was walking my dog and I was very surprised to hear from the creator of metasploit and he's mindset towards it.
    I think he's way of thinking is a good way that revolutionised the way we have pentest jobs.
    I think it's good he is a advocate for not criminalising because it keeps a balance of Jing and Jang! ❤ Great work Jack!

    Just got done hearing all this. And now I have a new appreciation for Metalsploit. Used it all through out the IBM course. Professionally certified and working! Jack you've always got amazing humor or niche puns at the end of your shows. But this time it came about from HD himself. No comments in code does make it harder to understand.... Keep up the awesome life dude.

    He is just writing software. The software is an exploitation framework that's open source. It requires a computer to use it. Why should he be the villain when bad actors are misusing computers to misuse other computers? He might be selling bullets, but no ammunition manufacturer goes to jail for selling bullets for guns, and gun violence is much more violent than computer crime.

    • @Entropy67
      @Entropy67 5 месяцев назад +2

      Right, its not illegal to sell guns either, its illegal to knowingly sell to bad actors. Intent matters a lot around the law... I wish the law around this stuff would be more clearly defined.

    I still use MSDN or whatever MS calls it today. It was technet. Then MSDN. Then now Visual Studio Subscription. Depending on your version, you get all is and software license and even enterprise keys to setup KMS servers and exchange and office 365 and all server os. And all past stuff like win95 keys and up, Microsoft POS (v 1.0, I don't think they fully launched it) and every office version and such. Thousands of keys

    If it is most important how a tool is used and not intentions of a producer or creator - then why weapon designers and manufacturers are not sued along somebody who robbed a bank using their gun?? 😲
    Without this gun this would not be possible ...
    So, if HD and community behind Metasploit, may be 'guilty' of delivering a tool which may be used by 'bad guys' to hack to some system and steal money or intellectual property (despite its intention is opposite - to test system and prevent 'bad guys' from getting in) - the more gun producers should be guilty of any victim suffered from their product!!

    OFF TOPIC UMB QUESTIONS TO ANY PPL THAT BOTHERS READING THIS:
    For one, thank you for sparing a moment of your most valuable commodity. Your time. I assure you this is just my wondering about a network of acdifferent kind. The water system networks. Its one thing that ee are all hopefully now eell aware that many colleges and Universities that churned out the same "experts" who either personally published or took the information published as being credible, yet wasnt as it turns out. That much of those papers published were based on fabrications. So I point thatvout to say aldo that that is ehat even the eater systems in place whose experts say the piping used is durable for "X" amount of time. Not counting sll yhe variables yhstvthst estimation can entail. As in, its gotta hugely by flawed.
    My questions are ehen is the last time you had the plumbing in your home/apr get inspected or replaced? Orr even ehen has any of a homes, buildings, city/towns, counties, states waterpipe systems for yhat matter! Outside of if a natural disaster that requires it, when has anyone seen their waterpipe system be replaced???
    Just a horrifying thought that in all honesty. Not counting in country weakness points that can for alls any country can truly know wont be how that terrorists attack. Unless you have heavy filtration, UV as well as and high frequency blast your water, you really have a ehole nother tangent of conspiracy of many conspiracies that that garners. Thats a whole nother lifetime of therapy that I for one do not have time or any money for, in this one for!!
    Just some points to ponder. 😮‍💨 And yes, this really is a level of Hell. The demons are yhe pridon giatds and yhose being killed isn for some war. Its really a blood sacrifice.
    👋🏼🤪 Have s good rest of your day!!!
