Hello, Mark Im a brazilian, descendent of syrian and lebanese people The most interesting fact, to me, was the one about Brazil be the country with the most arab ancestry
I'm from Makkah, Saudi Arabia :) I actually have South Asian roots; Malaysian and Indian from my mother's side, and Indonesian from my father's side. I also have a Syrian origin from my maternal great grandmother as well! But we're all Saudis, born and raised :) *Here are some interesting facts I know:* 1) Arabic has 11 words for love, each varying in degree. (ex: هيام huyam, which is the point where a lover goes insane from the intensity of their love and adoration.) 2) Arabic is called 'The Language of Dhadh' (لغة الضاد (ض because it is the only language that has this letter. 3) Arabic contains about 12.3 million words, while English has 600 thousand words. 4) Arabic is written from right to left, contrary to many - but not all - other written languages. Hope you learned something new! Also, I have a video suggestion for you, Mark, since it's Arab Heritage Month. I was wondering if you'd let your viewers comment something - like a sentence or word - in their native Arabic dialect, and you try to read it correctly and decipher its meaning, and they could write the translation in English below. Totally fine if it seems too mundane for you or if you don't like the idea! Have a great day :D

I’m African American and I am Attracted to Arabic men. I like that they have rich culture that dates back to millennium ago and I also like that, like my people, they are societally stigmatized and harshly misunderstood. And they’re often my preferred physical look.
Well first your not American iam native American iam American ,,,, also Muslim countries still have African slave !!! Did you know that bet you dident so no your not American your not native American
William White cloud First of all Americans with European or African ancestry are still considered American and second of all the United States have the third heights amount of enslaved people in the world at 400,000 people which is more that Saudi Arabia Egypt Iran Pakistan and Turkey combined which are the biggest Arab countries also you think slavery is abolished In the USA but there are still human trafficker who kidnap people and make them there slaves and do horrible stuff to them so don’t think that slavery is gone in America thank you very much and also most Muslim countries are African so think again one more thing a Muslim country and an Arab country are not the same thing by definition

After watching the Arab Culture awareness course shared by my friend, it leads me to your video. I'm a Seventh Day Adventist Christian from the Island of Mindanao, a Muslim concentrated region in the Philippines. Many people think everyone in Mindanao are Muslim. 😂 I just moved here in Libya and experiencing Arabic cultures and receiving the warmness of the hospitality of the people. It's good to learn new culture.
Do more of these facts! Even though I'm Canadian-Lebanese I actually learned something new! My older brother was always the one educating non Arabs when they asked questions but that was years ago. One question that I get asked or people just assumed was that I was Muslim. To which I reply "I'm Druze and you'd be surprised at how diverse Arab Religions are. Not every Arab is Muslim." (No offense!!) Thank you for this!!
@@mohammeds5458 The majority is Islam/Muslim - I never said it wasn't. There is also a majority of Christianity with a minority of Druze and the Baha'i faith. Not all Arabs are born to the Muslim religion. I was born into the Druze religion, and I've always replied "I am of a Druze faith/religion". My comment was simply to further educate those that don't know- that there are about 3-4 main religions within the Arab community and a lot that are hardly known or practiced because of the small percentage. And I don't know about you, but I'm always open to learning something new. Sorry if my previous comment offended you :).
I am not Arab, nor Muslim, but I believe that we definitely have to break barriers and stereotypes. We need to stop brain-washing ourselves with mainstream media and grab a book once in a while, to actually start thinking critically and formulate a more objective and well-rounded understanding of the world. I am a convert to a Islam and it all began with Arabic. I found myself fascinated with the beauty of the letters, so I taught myself. And now I teach Arabic to students who have foreign moms. Arabs are the kindest gentlest most beautiful people I've ever met and I've traveled a lot.Their helpfulness and generosity cannot be equalled anywhere, but their major fault it's not reaching out enough. Thank you for all you do in that regard. One of my best friends before I converted and moved to Egypt was a Lebanese woman in America..may I say Lebanese are the best cooks ever!!
You being converting to Islam is your choice. But it’s odd attributing your interest in Islam beginning because you developed an interest in Arabic and think Arabs are nice. It’s a kind thing to say however not all Arabs are Muslim and that’s one of the misconceptions Mark addressed. The man in the video, Mark, is a Christian.

Hi, Mark! I'm from Brazil and my paternal jadd was from Dimashq, Syria. One of the aspects of Arabic culture that make me connected the most w/ my roots is Levantine cuisine, which is very popular here and very significant for us, descendants, who mostly (and unfortunately) didn't learn the Arabic language from our folks. As a university student that researched a lot about the Arab world and its relations to other countries, I'm really happy to see "brimos" (as we Brazilian Arabs usually call our brothers and sisters) like you showing out we're lovely people w/ rich and beautiful history and culture, and not the horribly xenophobic image of "terrorists" or sexually fetishized bodies, as we usually see through Western media. Keep making this incredible content! Shukran ktir, ya Mark!

I have always been interested in Arab culture. Food is good, warm and welcoming personalities, and of course the music is beautiful. My family comes from the Azorean islands of Portugal. The town my mother grew up in was called Algarvia on the island of St. Michael. Come to find out that the name in itself speaks of it's Arab roots. I've always wanted to track down my family tree to see how far I could find it. I'm pretty confident there is arab blood somewhere in my veins and I hope to some day learn the language and do some traveling in different countries that have this rich culture.
I’m sure I was Arabic or middle eastern in a last life. Fell in love with Arabic pop music 20 years ago and always wanted to learn the language just so I could understand the lyrics. Later I fell in love with belly dancing and love middle eastern men, currently dating a Jordanian guy the last 4 years. I learned Arabic on and off the last few years just so I can communicate with his mom, who doesn’t speak English at all. In love with the music, food, language, dances, culture - everything! FYI- I live in Alhambra, California. Great story behind why the city was named this and has to do with Alhambra, the famous mosque in Spain.

1) Arabic has 11 words for love, each varying in degree. (ex: هيام huyam, which is the point where a lover goes insane from the intensity of their love and adoration.)
2) Arabic is called 'The Language of Dhadh' (لغة الضاد (ض because it is the only language that has this letter.
Not every Arab is Muslim." (No offense!!)
Thank you for this!!
But MOST of Arabs are Muslim
@@mohammeds5458
The majority is Islam/Muslim - I never said it wasn't.
