I battled PTSD for five years (2004-2009) so this link was most needed to help educate people about this debilitating condition. I love how intellectual Dr. Bryant is and I hope others took a lot of learning from this lecture. I will say this...conquering PTSD is bar none the most liberating experience I've ever had in my life. I hope everyone who deals with it finds coping mechanisms to eventually defeat its suffocating impediments
I am an avid #MentalHealthAwareness advocate and performer, and I love this so much. I travel the country trying to bring that awareness on stages, in classrooms, hospitals, and on my RUclips channel, so I get excited when I see other advocates. 💙❤
I disagree with trauma victims not needing talk right after the trauma.. I think when you get into people's belief's you'll find a lot of people don't believe they have a right to talk about the trauma as in them being victim in the situation, and these people will get anxiety disorder later on.. If we can convince them that they have that right, they don't suffer later..
when dr bryant says they don't need to talk or be engaged with directly after trauma, he is not referring to social conversation of what happened with friends and family but to psychological treatments. It can excerbate problems. Also, various cultural groups deal with trauma differently and forcing psychological treatments too early can be offensive and again excerbate problems.
oh if only I could have talked to those I loved...to break through immediately past the point of not being able to talk and having no words. it must be offered with a trauma specialist! !
@poeticpaul i am the same. We must keep letting them come and remembering it is our memories inside and not happened outside. We must get help. You can heal. But this way =what we are going through - is the way to healing. When we go insane oh year ago crap sorry
