    Is the rest of the talk available? He was just getting into the crux of Brave New World.

    Right around 2:26 he calls "Brave New World" "BRAND New World". Nearly unforgivable!!

      You are right. I think it is sad, as he says, that some people may not know about Aldous Huxley. !!!
      I, like you, am a great admirer of his work. My faves are "Doors of Perception" and "Heaven and Hell."

      @@rr7firefly He did make that mistake, and it is jarring, but we are all human and the brain sometimes has its neuron's fire in odd ways. I'm tolerant of it, because I know what he meant, and since I knew that, and I know that I could easily make an associative memory error like that as I get older. (I am 61 years old, and know from experience how easy it is to make that type of error.)

      @rr7firefly 5 лет назад +1

      @@nicholasfulford6753 Only 61? That's not so old. I know several people over 85 who can still keep on top of things. But I know what you mean. At this time in history we are glutted with all kinds of information -- so many names to keep track of. And because of the internet, our access to tons of info has increased exponentially.

      @@rr7firefly I don't mind aging ... ok, I do, but it is the price of admission so I'm ok with it within limits. I do like that age has brought me a level of self-acceptance that I did not have at all when I was young. I also like that my poetry has actually become worth reading - imagine that. But I do find that while mis-remembering is creative, it can be quite embarrassing sometimes, so I have had to develop a self-depreciating sense of humour. One conclusion that I realized last year out on a three day hike with some fungal friends, that the arc of the universe tips ever so slightly more towards comedy than tragedy. This was a charming realization, and I do hope to prove this by leaving this life laughing. (Unfortunately, I won't be able to report back on the last moments, so I may just have to do it in a fMRI. Hell, they have done fMRI scans on people having orgasms, so why not see what happens just before the lights go out? I'd volunteer for that, and especially if they let me go out on a suitable high like Huxley.)

      @@nicholasfulford6753 Your idea about an fMRI as someone is departing is a good one. I think it would provide valuable insights. I am intrigued with your mention of "fungal friends." A few people have recommended psilocybin to me and I am well aware of its ability to access info that normally stays obscured by everyday thoughts. Best wishes to you, NF. I always enjoy reading comments such as yours.

    At some point hopefully the gaps between phrases can be digitally treated. We now get an echo bounce. It’s such important and unique communication. I hear from Raghu how under pressure they are to catalogue all these.

      Not uncommon for the average to believe they need something that is being sold to them
      If one doesn’t even know that they actually already have a watch that tells them what time it is and it takes a clever pick pocket to secretly steal that watch and then sell it back to them and for them to pay and realize and then know what time it is then that cleaver pick pocket is ..what ?
