So as big fan of the Payday games I thought I'd give Crime Boss: Rockay City the benefit of the doubt...turns out that was a mistake.

The game reminds me of those old crappy games that has a cool concept like Kane and Lynch or devils third, I'd even say ride to hell is a cool concept

I'd be willing to bet Michael Madsen was 100% not sober while recording his voice clips.
You can't be disappointed, if you didn't expect anything in the first place. And having so many stars was a red flag right from the start.
Still, you did a good job of presenting the game.
And for possible future endeavors, try Batman and Robin for PS1 ;)
I'll be honest, I kinda want to play this now, just to see how bad the voice acting gets, just those few clips of Norris were rough, lol. He cleary did not give a single crap about his performance. There are games like Ride to Hell, that you need to play yourself to see how bad they are.
Its mixed to poor reception means it'll get cheap fast at least.

@@adlibbed2138 I'd love to play Ride to Hell, but I need a way to play it since emulating PS3 games seems to be a lot more difficult.
@@SpiceLordofCinder there's actually a PC port of it, even though the port itself had this one similar problem that Metal Gear Solid 2 PC port has, that is the lack of any kind of graphical options unless you used the GOG version or get the V's fix if you somehow has the original retail version

I love rougelikes and extraction type shooters so the general concept of this game sounds really cool to me, but the fact this review is the only time I have even heard of this game when the year is almost over now should say something when I follow so many gaming news accounts. It honestly looks sort of fun even with what you point out I could see some appeal in it, but like you said it really does just look like super wasted potential.
The speech sounds super disjointed and it sort of makes me wonder if the devs just like, had the actors record some lines, put those lines in certain folders and just had the game decide which one to play that sort of makes sense, like a slightly more advanced version of whatever oblivion was doing all those years ago. Something about the characters' faces also weird me out, more than just them being actual actors, the way their faces just sort of move while they're moving or talking genuinely feels really uncanny valley to me.

As far as the hair goes, I've noticed the issue is pretty big with DLSS enabled, at least that's what does it in most games for me

The title sounds like mobile game title. One of those shitty GTA clones.
I don't like this game for two reasons
1. Rockay city is two and a half decades too late
2. It's an FPS roguelike.I don't know who the hell thought that was a good idea but that person should be fired. No offense to anybody who is a fan of roguelikes but they've just never been my type of game.
Yeah, while I appreciate what they were trying to do, going down the roguelike route was a really bad idea.
