Emma and Julian survived because of Julians familias rune. Jem said that it happened before that one parabatai would become Nephilim they would survive because they had a parabatai witch connects him to the world so that he can come back. So possibly the familia rune did that to Julian and since he first collapsed Emma collapsed with him because of the parabatai bond.. that is just how i got it
The conclusion of the Emma/Julian parabatai problem was also a bit of an issue I had with the book. I was just expecting a lot more consequence but it all just neatly worked out In their favour. Overall I did really enjoy the book. I really liked Dru and Kit in it so I’m looking forward to TWP. Also, I actually really liked the Thule part, but after awhile I started missing the other characters storylines. The worst thing is having to wait like 4 years to find out what happens with the characters in TWP.

Emily Louis Go to Cassie’s tumblr she gets asked about the Jules and Emma parabati curse thing. She says Jules and Emma are an anomaly of sorts. They got extremely lucky that they both came back from being burning giant monsters. Parabati are still not allowed to fall in love and they would probably go crazy unlike Emma and Jules.
Yeah, I'd say that Emma's vision after she returned from Thule where there were many horrible Demons who fell back in terror at Ash's approach gives a pretty good indication that he's in no way going to be bound in alignment with Hell.

I get why you didn’t like Julian but I loved him he almost took jace’s place as my favorite male lead he’s so sweet and loving but also a real badass not in a Golden charming warrior kind of way but in calculating Batman kind of way, also I really didn’t get why they called Annabel the queen of air and darkness
Julian is my favorite character in the Shadowhunter Chronicles. Reason: because he is a political genius. I love a man who relies more on his wit and cunning than his muscles.
It also really frustrates me how convenient the ending was for Julian and Emma. This was probably my least favorite Cassandra Clare book, just because I spent most of it feeling depressed, aggravated, or pissed off. The TMI crew was the highlight of this book for me.
Listen, I think Ash and Kit are going to become the next Jace and Sebastian good angel bad angel thing. Obviously with a different type of story but if you think about. Kit is now some magical fairy shadowhunter thing with a lot of power, and we know there's A LOT of weird shit going on with Ash. ASH HAS WINGS WTF DOES THAT MEAN? I don't know I'm so excited for Wicked Powers. I think there will be an interesting love triangle between Dru, Jaime, and Ash. I don't think Ash is going to be the big villan. Idk i know a half demon fairy baby kid should be evil but how we have seen him connect with dru and jace makes me think he could be saved. I have wayyyy too many thoughts.

I hope we dont have that many POVs in TWP too, i just want it to revolve mostly on our main characters being KitTY, and Dru. Maybe Ash and Jaime too. I felt QOAAD had too many POVs i didnt care for. Since these are only trilogies we need focus on our main mains to connect the most with them, others already had their books.

This is probably one of my least favorite books from Cassie. I enjoyed it bc she's a great writer but so much was unresolved for me. I felt like she took the easy way out with Julian. I thought she was really going to go there with dark Julian but she didn't. The parabatai storyline was so messy. I wanted to love Emma in this series I just feel like when her parents storyline got wrapped up everything she did was about Julian. I really didn't like Mark/Cristina/Kiernan storyline I feel like it was way too rushed for K to have so much love for Cristina and vice versa. I loved Dru so much she's such an underrated character. Can't wait to see her interact with Ash more. I really did like the ending of the book. I was so surprised with that! Can't wait for the next books.
I sorta agree with you. I do feel like the story was rushed. But I understand the author has a large workload. She had a lot of other series she is writing about the shadowhunter world.
I think at the end of the book it said that any shadowhunters could turn into the giant angles to kill the giant demons. But only the parabati who were in love didn’t die. That it gave them the power to live. Also this book was not as dark as I wanted it to be at all. I totally agree.

N it can't be something other than the eternidad either cuz teleportation to the faerie lands can only be done by using the eternidad excluding the path n all(n it was also inside Jamie's bag) But the myth regarding the fact that only Rosales blood can use the eternidad is most probably false cuz Jaime gave Christina an odd look n plus there is definitely something going on btwn the Rosales family n the faeries..
I SO cried when the Blackthorns approached Giant Emma and Julian and talked to them. Especially little Tavvy, saying he's so tired and wants Julian to pick him up and carry him. 😭
I also realized how much I love Clary and Jace, I mean, I knew I loved them but every time they appeared in the book I was just so happy with the biggest smile on my face. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH I CAN'T I really think that the end of the wicked powers will be Clace's wedding, as it is a tradition now to end the series with a wedding lol THEY BETTER END ALIVE OR I'LL DIE Oh btw that Clace bonus story at the end made me cry a river :)
In the back of my copy, their was a bonus short story about Jace and Clary right after Magnus and Alec's wedding and *SPOILER* Clary makes a portal back to the NY Institute Greenhouse (where they had their first kiss all that time ago) and proposes to Jace with a sword.
I feel like the previous two books were leading up to this big finale involving the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, the Black Book, and Ash. There was so much buildup for this, and I thought QOOAD would be like a game of tug a war with the Black Book. I also thought that somewhere along the way, something with the First Heir and Auraline would come to fruition as well. I was sadly disappointed in this book, because all of a sudden the Big Bad of the series changed to the Cohort, and the other plot lines were either pushed aside or lazily solved in the middle. I wanted more people to die as well. I wanted there to be stakes. I wanted Cassie to let Livvy stay dead. I feel like the parabatai bond being severed by turning into giants was lazy too. Like you said, there were no consequences. The bond was supposed to be this terribly evil thing, and it was resolved in a couple of pages and everything was happy again. And Annabel did not deserve the cover or the title, she wasn’t even the main villain of the series!
I think Cassie had so many ideas for this story that she just decided to cram everything and left a lot of holes and too many happy endings, something changed in the middle of writing the book because I remember she said Simon and Izzy were going to be as present in this book as Magnus and Alec were in the second one, but they barely appeared, and she talked about killing characters but no, everyone survived, while I enjoyed the book I was really disappointed on how it had too many story lines and not a real plot the cohort thing could have been put aside to finish the storyline with the unseelie King and ash and the blight, then bring it back in TWP or something

We all knew the Cohorts were crazy, but everything was leading us to believe in completely different big villains. It was so underwhelming. This series could have honestly been the best if only Cassie did not loose her touch. I felt like she kind of lost in from LoS. But QOAAD was on another level of scattered. So much left unsolved. Even if she was paving the way for TWP, I feel like she still failed bigtime in wrapping up TDA itself. I've never been so disappointed in her. Huhu. P.S. I love Cristine but honestly you did not talk about Emma and Julian's moments. I feel like you hate Julian so much that it's a little unreasonable already. But again, I see where you're coming from.

So many theories for the Wicked Powers! And though Dru and Jamie would make a cute couple I kind of ship her with Ash after he keeps the picture Julian drew of her. I feel like it will be a love triangle at least because pretty much every relationship in Cassandra Clare's books is a love triangle. Except for Mark, Cristina, and Kieran who are in a polygamous relationship. By the way, there is a bonus story in the back of the book (at least in my copy) called 'A love that never tires' where Clary proposes to Jace.
i feel like the whole heavenly fire thing with emma and julian could've gone bad if the blackthorns weren't there. i think cristina says that emma looks like she can't take it any longer (bc it's heavenly fire, it's like super strong) and all that and then the blackthorns show up and sort of like, bring them back to themselves??? at least that's what i understood from that, you know? like, when they start telling julian and emma stuff, the last human part of them in that true nephlim form starts taking over again and going back to shadowhunter regular form (and then tavvy being v cute of course does it all)... i feel like, if they weren't there to sort of knock some sense (or love) back into jules and emma, they would've burned and died like those parabatai who became true nephlim so long ago in history. it did make sense to me because that was the way i interpreted it. it was love that started the "curse", it was love that stopped it. ____ about eternidad: IT IS A LIE!!!!! I do think Thule Jace will be Ash' true test about hero/anti-hero character if Thule Jace ever decides to hurt Clary Ash would stop him coz Ash cared about Clary when Emma talked about her It will mean something in the future Hopefully we will have some answers about Thule Jace in Forever Fallen which will be out in 6 months (much better than 4 years) 100% agreed to everything you said

I am sooo happy there is someone else who had issues with QoAaD! So much of the stuff you said articulated the exact problems I had with it! It definitely felt like more of a means to an end rather than an end in itself. I’m way more excited for TWP!
There is a scene in LoS where Kieran tells Mark and Christina (I think it’s those three) that Julian, Magnus and some other people go to an Internet cafe, presumably to print Julian’s photos of the Black Book. Also it does seem highly unlikely Julian managed to photograph the entire book, but then again it is Julian.

I love how you said that Jace gets better with age because I said to my boyfriend after finishing the book (despite him not knowing anything about Cassie's books except the random comments I've spewed at him over the years), "Jace just keeps getting better as he ages. He ages like a fine wine" and my boyfriend spit his drink out and couldn't stop laughing at that
Going back to the beginning about Christina and the whole princess thing, when she killed Oban didn’t he also say “who are you?” as he died??? Because WHO is she?
In the epilogue, Jace and Clary plan to propose to each other at the same time, Clary just does it first. She gives him a blade that basically says, will you marry me in Latin and it's in the greenhouse where they shared their first kiss and as they start to make out which leads to the start of something else, the midnight flower blooms just like it did on Clary's sixteenth birthday and it even references that moment. It was the most perfect proposal Cassie could've done for them.

I think there were no bad consequences to Emma and Julian burning from heavenly fire become it came FROM their parabatai bond. It also makes sense that the parabatai bond disappeared because it was emptied of all its energy, like a battery. Jace, on the other hand: 1) got heavenly fire from outside, from the sword. It was too much because it added up to the Nephilim energy/fire already running in his blood... 2) His parabatai bond survived because it was not the source of the heavenly fire, thus it was not emptied of its energy. But that's just my interpretation, I may be wrong.

(But he probably has the book being Annabel's son-alike) Nope I was kinda wrong with this That demon was wearing a red vial similar to the ones Nene gave Emma and Julian And Unseelie king also wore Ash' blood around his neck I am telling you that vial had Ash' blood in that protected eidolon demon (could be Sebastian's too but I don't think so. Sebastian was probably taking small bits from an unaware Ash at nights to protect his higher ranking officers-being strong demons-)
Did anyone else notice how in the Chapter right before they went to the parlay in the morning, each storyline had a moment where ‘I love you I love you I love you.’ was used? Felt really powerful and like it was building up to a bigger tragedy than what happened.

I'm not sure if you know about it, but Waterstones released an exclusive copy of QOAAD. It has a bonus chapter in the back...a little scene between Jace and Clary. I definitely recommend finding and reading it
I also think that perhaps the vile of blood which made the demons immune to the shadow Hunter magic was ashes from the king and I had also believed the theory that Sebastian in the queen would have a child although for some reason I did not connect that to who drew had seen until much later on

Heavenly Fire/Nephilim theory: we're going to learn more about Julian's "powers" in Chain of Gold because Lucie marries Jesse. I think that Lucie got something from her mother and she passed it down and the reason Emma was able to withstand it is because Julien and Emma were Parabatai
I’m pretty sure they were able to withstand the fire because of their family. I think Cassie wanted to show their family bonds and how strong the blackthorns and Emma all love each other.

The vial on the fake Anabelle is the same that was on the Unseelie King, the blood of Ash. Which gave them strengh, that's why it wasn't killed with the seraph blade.
All I got from Jem's explanation in this book was "Solo Parabatai used to turn into giants but we lost that method and now only two can" so maybe we'll find the way a single pair can use the old method going forth? It would be amazing. We for sure are getting giant demons in the final series, it's gonna be amazing seeing the Titans fighting giant demons amid a big war scene.

Emma and Julian survived because of Julians familias rune. Jem said that it happened before that one parabatai would become Nephilim they would survive because they had a parabatai witch connects him to the world so that he can come back. So possibly the familia rune did that to Julian and since he first collapsed Emma collapsed with him because of the parabatai bond.. that is just how i got it
Interesting theory
The conclusion of the Emma/Julian parabatai problem was also a bit of an issue I had with the book. I was just expecting a lot more consequence but it all just neatly worked out In their favour. Overall I did really enjoy the book. I really liked Dru and Kit in it so I’m looking forward to TWP. Also, I actually really liked the Thule part, but after awhile I started missing the other characters storylines. The worst thing is having to wait like 4 years to find out what happens with the characters in TWP.

Julian is my favorite character in the Shadowhunter Chronicles. Reason: because he is a political genius. I love a man who relies more on his wit and cunning than his muscles.
It also really frustrates me how convenient the ending was for Julian and Emma. This was probably my least favorite Cassandra Clare book, just because I spent most of it feeling depressed, aggravated, or pissed off. The TMI crew was the highlight of this book for me.

I hope we dont have that many POVs in TWP too, i just want it to revolve mostly on our main characters being KitTY, and Dru. Maybe Ash and Jaime too. I felt QOAAD had too many POVs i didnt care for. Since these are only trilogies we need focus on our main mains to connect the most with them, others already had their books.

This is probably one of my least favorite books from Cassie. I enjoyed it bc she's a great writer but so much was unresolved for me. I felt like she took the easy way out with Julian. I thought she was really going to go there with dark Julian but she didn't. The parabatai storyline was so messy. I wanted to love Emma in this series I just feel like when her parents storyline got wrapped up everything she did was about Julian. I really didn't like Mark/Cristina/Kiernan storyline I feel like it was way too rushed for K to have so much love for Cristina and vice versa. I loved Dru so much she's such an underrated character. Can't wait to see her interact with Ash more. I really did like the ending of the book. I was so surprised with that! Can't wait for the next books.
I sorta agree with you. I do feel like the story was rushed. But I understand the author has a large workload. She had a lot of other series she is writing about the shadowhunter world.
I think at the end of the book it said that any shadowhunters could turn into the giant angles to kill the giant demons. But only the parabati who were in love didn’t die. That it gave them the power to live.
Also this book was not as dark as I wanted it to be at all. I totally agree.

I feel like the previous two books were leading up to this big finale involving the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, the Black Book, and Ash. There was so much buildup for this, and I thought QOOAD would be like a game of tug a war with the Black Book. I also thought that somewhere along the way, something with the First Heir and Auraline would come to fruition as well. I was sadly disappointed in this book, because all of a sudden the Big Bad of the series changed to the Cohort, and the other plot lines were either pushed aside or lazily solved in the middle. I wanted more people to die as well. I wanted there to be stakes. I wanted Cassie to let Livvy stay dead. I feel like the parabatai bond being severed by turning into giants was lazy too. Like you said, there were no consequences. The bond was supposed to be this terribly evil thing, and it was resolved in a couple of pages and everything was happy again. And Annabel did not deserve the cover or the title, she wasn’t even the main villain of the series!
I think Cassie had so many ideas for this story that she just decided to cram everything and left a lot of holes and too many happy endings, something changed in the middle of writing the book because I remember she said Simon and Izzy were going to be as present in this book as Magnus and Alec were in the second one, but they barely appeared, and she talked about killing characters but no, everyone survived, while I enjoyed the book I was really disappointed on how it had too many story lines and not a real plot the cohort thing could have been put aside to finish the storyline with the unseelie King and ash and the blight, then bring it back in TWP or something

We all knew the Cohorts were crazy, but everything was leading us to believe in completely different big villains. It was so underwhelming. This series could have honestly been the best if only Cassie did not loose her touch. I felt like she kind of lost in from LoS. But QOAAD was on another level of scattered. So much left unsolved. Even if she was paving the way for TWP, I feel like she still failed bigtime in wrapping up TDA itself. I've never been so disappointed in her. Huhu.
P.S. I love Cristine but honestly you did not talk about Emma and Julian's moments. I feel like you hate Julian so much that it's a little unreasonable already. But again, I see where you're coming from.

So many theories for the Wicked Powers! And though Dru and Jamie would make a cute couple I kind of ship her with Ash after he keeps the picture Julian drew of her. I feel like it will be a love triangle at least because pretty much every relationship in Cassandra Clare's books is a love triangle. Except for Mark, Cristina, and Kieran who are in a polygamous relationship. By the way, there is a bonus story in the back of the book (at least in my copy) called 'A love that never tires' where Clary proposes to Jace.
i feel like the whole heavenly fire thing with emma and julian could've gone bad if the blackthorns weren't there. i think cristina says that emma looks like she can't take it any longer (bc it's heavenly fire, it's like super strong) and all that and then the blackthorns show up and sort of like, bring them back to themselves??? at least that's what i understood from that, you know? like, when they start telling julian and emma stuff, the last human part of them in that true nephlim form starts taking over again and going back to shadowhunter regular form (and then tavvy being v cute of course does it all)... i feel like, if they weren't there to sort of knock some sense (or love) back into jules and emma, they would've burned and died like those parabatai who became true nephlim so long ago in history.
it did make sense to me because that was the way i interpreted it. it was love that started the "curse", it was love that stopped it.

I do think Thule Jace will be Ash' true test about hero/anti-hero character if Thule Jace ever decides to hurt Clary Ash would stop him coz Ash cared about Clary when Emma talked about her It will mean something in the future
Hopefully we will have some answers about Thule Jace in Forever Fallen which will be out in 6 months (much better than 4 years)

There is a scene in LoS where Kieran tells Mark and Christina (I think it’s those three) that Julian, Magnus and some other people go to an Internet cafe, presumably to print Julian’s photos of the Black Book. Also it does seem highly unlikely Julian managed to photograph the entire book, but then again it is Julian.

I love how you said that Jace gets better with age because I said to my boyfriend after finishing the book (despite him not knowing anything about Cassie's books except the random comments I've spewed at him over the years), "Jace just keeps getting better as he ages. In the epilogue, Jace and Clary plan to propose to each other at the same time, Clary just does it first. She gives him a blade that basically says, will you marry me in Latin and it's in the greenhouse where they shared their first kiss and as they start to make out which leads to the start of something else, the midnight flower blooms just like it did on Clary's sixteenth birthday and it even references that moment. It was the most perfect proposal Cassie could've done for them.

I think there were no bad consequences to Emma and Julian burning from heavenly fire become it came FROM their parabatai bond. It also makes sense that the parabatai bond disappeared because it was emptied of all its energy, like a battery. Jace, on the other hand: 1) got heavenly fire from outside, from the sword. It was too much because it added up to the Nephilim energy/fire already running in his blood... 2) His parabatai bond survived because it was not the source of the heavenly fire, thus it was not emptied of its energy.
But that's just my interpretation, I may be wrong.
Theory: the repercussions of Ty’s spell are why the seraph blade didn’t work on the Annabel demon...
Madelyn Bradlea Demon was able to go inside LA institute before Ty did the spell though
I think because of Ty’s spell, dark jace and Ash were able to come back from Thule

And Unseelie king also wore Ash' blood around his neck
I am telling you that vial had Ash' blood in that protected eidolon demon (could be Sebastian's too but I don't think so. Sebastian was probably taking small bits from an unaware Ash at nights to protect his higher ranking officers-being strong demons-)

Did anyone else notice how in the Chapter right before they went to the parlay in the morning, each storyline had a moment where ‘I love you I love you I love you.’ was used? Felt really powerful and like it was building up to a bigger tragedy than what happened.

Christine, Clary does propose to Jace. It was an additional story in QOAAD called A Love That Never Tires. She buys him a new sword that reads: visne me in matrimonium ducere, which means will you marry me. Luke helped her with the translation.

I'm not sure if you know about it, but Waterstones released an exclusive copy of QOAAD. It has a bonus chapter in the back...a little scene between Jace and Clary. I definitely recommend finding and reading it

I also think that perhaps the vile of blood which made the demons immune to the shadow Hunter magic was ashes from the king and I had also believed the theory that Sebastian in the queen would have a child although for some reason I did not connect that to who drew had seen until much later on

Heavenly Fire/Nephilim theory: we're going to learn more about Julian's "powers" in Chain of Gold because Lucie marries Jesse. I think that Lucie got something from her mother and she passed it down and the reason Emma was able to withstand it is because Julien and Emma were Parabatai
I’m pretty sure they were able to withstand the fire because of their family. I think Cassie wanted to show their family bonds and how strong the blackthorns and Emma all love each other.
I kind of wanted more back story on Annabel and the Seelie queen as to why they are the way they are...

The vial on the fake Anabelle is the same that was on the Unseelie King, the blood of Ash. Which gave them strengh, that's why it wasn't killed with the seraph blade.
All I got from Jem's explanation in this book was "Solo Parabatai used to turn into giants but we lost that method and now only two can" so maybe we'll find the way a single pair can use the old method going forth? It would be amazing. We for sure are getting giant demons in the final series, it's gonna be amazing seeing the Titans fighting giant demons amid a big war scene.
