I always go after bronze working first. Gotta have archers to protect ur city. I also make 3 warriors so they can army or protect land later. Not a bad idea to just build a galley so u can find the artifacts on islands. U also wanna get navigation asap so u can find the lost city of Atlantis
So let me get this straight. The Pheonician acrobats were putting on a show in the year 1900 BC, in an American palace, set to Hungarian dance no.5, created by Johhannes Brahms who is german. That's so fucking crazy man... i almost pissed my pants with laughter!
Food, Production, and Money from Exploration to produce 3 Warriors, Research Bronze Working, build 3 Archers for Mobile Defense of Territory and more Exploration/Barbarian Villages, 1 Galley for Exploration/Transportation, 3 sets of Villagers in Reasonable Locations, upgrade DEFENSIVE Troops(1 Veteran Army of "Era Correct" Troops is ALL that is necessary in each City) have 2 Armies of Offensive Troops(Knights can be EFFECTIVE until before Modern Infantry....) upgrade Buildings as Appropriate, Research SPECIFICALLY to Modern Infantry, and then CRUSH the "Opposition"!!!!! Even on Deity...........
For those that don't know the market not only adds production towards gold but also adds about 2 or 4 pieces of gold collected each turn making it to where your city does not have to focus on gold production if you choose not to however it is only a little add of gold like I said 2 or 4 pieces so it is your choice how you use this and with that great explorer it also help add more gold as he already explained.
I smash this game. strategically it is a bad move to send a great person out into the world alone. with a great Explorer use his special ability to give ypu 400 gold. then you get a new settler unit nxt turn. then you will have 2 cities giving you an immediate advantage over the other civilisations.you can study tech faster and get ahead. 800 domination victories on deity level.so far. think of all squares as resources. barbarian villages can upgrade armies making them stronger so use them to do that. protect the squares around your cities. on higher levels barbarians can slow down your city growth or production by occupying that square when they move on your city.so guard them...plus your units will be upgraded after 3 victories. personally I never trade tech with other civs. build a barracks quick. build boats explore the world and find out where the other civs are. I win all my battles and rarely lose a single unit
Love this game, and am really enjoying your insights on how to play. I was hoping you could explain why when Boston had 3 food squares, 3 production squares and ocean access it was not a great location for a city. Thanks
+CURTIS A It was not a good city in the immediate sense. 2 plains squares, 2 hill squares, and 1 desert square meant that without the buildings that beef up those respective tiles it was not going to be capable of anything on its own. Once they were built, Boston very quickly became a powerhouse.
Love this game, when Boston was built, since you wernt getting any science or gold, change manage workers to food, have lots of food, city will grow faster 👍
In the version of this I play on my ipod, there is also a great person that increases Culture by 50%, or they can cause a city to join your culture. Pretty sweet...
I remember one time while playing this I won a domination victory and I saw that Russians were in the map but I never found them and they were apparently almost more powerful than me
The Greeks are usually the least aggressive AI civ in the game, so they probably won't attack you, but they're not going to help you either. If you're down to one city, you might be hard pressed to take the fight back to the Egyptians, especially considering as the Romans your only real useful ability is half price Wonders. Hmmm, what difficulty are you playing on?
CCSMediaDesign Deity. Thats why i'm scared. But in the beginning I thought it was good to ally the Greeks because of the Spartan army. Guess I was wrong lol.
Stephanie espersen Deity huh? Who has tech advantage, you or Egypt? To militarily turn this one around you're gonna need at least one veteran defensive army, and two veteran attacking armies that are just as advanced as what the Egyptians are fielding, if you even want to make the attempt at taking one of your cities back. If your tech is high enough that you can make Cruisers, you'll need a fleet of those too if your target city borders the ocean. You'll be outnumbered hugely, but its not difficult to outsmart the AI even on Deity, if you use the terrain to your advantage. If you can't do that, Start focusing on those Wonders before Cleopatra obsoletes them. Go for Oxford University and Magna Carta if they are available.
very good and very helpful walkthrough! just got a quick question about RESEARCH. me and a friend have been struggling with research times being either very long or very inconcistent, what affects the research times?
Mostly its the amount the amount of science that you are outputting. The more resources you devote to Science to bring up your total output, the faster you will research technologies. All technologies take a certain amount of accumulated science in order to learn them. For instance CONSTRUCTION costs 80 science to learn it. If the total science output of all my cities combined is 20, it will take me 4 turns to research it. However, another factor is if the technology you are researching has a pre-requisite. CONSTRUCTION is normally 80, but if you have its prerequisites IRON WORKING, and MASONRY, that cost will come down to 60. Good luck, I hope this helps you out a little bit.
To each their own. Bronze Working should never be prioritized over Alphabet, unless your city has instant access to a fish resource. Unless its an emergency or being put to immediate use, military technology should always take a back seat to domestic technology.
I assume you mean the Playstation store. I can't say for certain but since its on the XBL marketplace I have no reason to assume the Playstation store won't have it available as well.
Why are you wasting production opportunities by throwing away your turns producing markets that you don't intend to finish? Why not just pop out more warriors instead?
None of that production is wasted, It gets stored up and can be seamlessly transferred to any other building or unit. Pumping out warriors beyond the initial ones I spawned is one of the worst things I could do with my production unless there's an immediate need for it.

ROFL!
Crazy isn't it? ;)
CCSMediaDesign I just love the unintended satire.
Civilization does not care for your pitiful "real life" history! It plays fast and loose with these things.
Good lets play, I LOVE this game!
When I think of "using" great people rather than settling, I think of grinding them up into whatever it is you want.
this is the first sid meier game i play back in 2013 on ps3 soo much nostalgia and fun
You really making me play in the middle of the night XD

Been on hold, for a number of reasons. I intend to get it out ASAP.
Thanks for posting these video`s. Really helpful for our new player gaming group program.
Cheers,
John

You needed to put your second city on the hill next to the river
Majestic Browz
Agreed.
That was driving me nuts.
squirreland
Lol
and, started researching tech with the first city
Brows you are so right
Wow I love this guy he definitely has another sub!
Because Boston, New Orleans, and Detroit are remarkable, awesome and extraordinary xD
They (excluding New Orleans to my knowledge) actually were all big powerful cities once.
Nothing says remarkable like the drug filled city of Detroit :D
***** New Orleans (to my knowledge) was a big part of the south during war times
why does this guy always say this tech is his "favorite technology" when after you research it he says something else is his favorite technology?
Botulonium Toxin Type H and guess wot
ALPHABET IS NOW A TECHNNOLOGY

Mark Cameron ,
and why didn't he start a tech right away?
Dan Conrad because he didn't
You dont get 400 gold in any era untill the modern era he would have got 50 if he did that

+CCSMediaDesign seems like technology makes all the difference. so what of Atlantis?
did you ever end up making another video explaining all the techs and wonders etc?
Love this game, when Boston was built, since you wernt getting any science or gold, change manage workers to food, have lots of food, city will grow faster 👍
You sound nearly identical to that 2bcproductions Guy
In the version of this I play on my ipod, there is also a great person that increases Culture by 50%, or they can cause a city to join your culture. Pretty sweet...
That happens in this version as well.
New to the game, enjoying it thus far.
Where’s is the inventory of the little hammers displayed? If that’s even an important factor in gameplay.
Yay! you pronounced detroit right!
I hate it when people say it 'dee-troit'
Big Baby Blue Eyes
You just *hate* huh? You get pissed if the toilet paper isn't double ply?
Big Baby Blue Eyes
I won't stop you then. Go ahead having a stroke at 40 lmao
I learned so many things did not know about the game
I remember one time while playing this I won a domination victory and I saw that Russians were in the map but I never found them and they were apparently almost more powerful than me
Elijah Elsasser The AI is kinda weird like that. For whatever reason they seem to grow at a faster pace if you don't make contact with them.
The way you move the explorer around is nerve-wracking. Also, why didn't you use the same Warrior for all barbarians? Get faster upgrades.
Egypt took over all of my cities except for Rome, both of our cities are huge, good thing Greek is on my side :P
The Greeks are usually the least aggressive AI civ in the game, so they probably won't attack you, but they're not going to help you either.

You should not put a city next to hills and definitely not 2

Superb this will help a lot i'm sure.
Is there any DLC for more civilizations?
In this game, no. the DLC is for additional Wonders, Ancient Artifacts, and Scenario Maps.
CCSMediaDesign Oh i see, Thank you.
I would have researched Pottery to make use of the less fruitful plains around Boston
13:17 wtf. How the heck have two warrior units and one great explorer survive without food or water or sleep for 1700 years!?!?

Hi, is this Stanislavsky Appliances?
Oh sweet victory types.
You forgot about great culturealists
Where is part 3?
He should've started with bronze working
To each their own. Bronze Working should never be prioritized over Alphabet, unless your city has instant access to a fish resource. Unless its an emergency or being put to immediate use, military technology should always take a back seat to domestic technology.
+CCSMediaDesign , KILL EVERYTHING, GO MILLATARY!
Is it available at play store?
I assume you mean the Playstation store. I can't say for certain but since its on the XBL marketplace I have no reason to assume the Playstation store won't have it available as well.
Is it Spain another in the game?
Yes, Spain is a playable Civilization in this game.
