    I have been a fan a long time my friend and hung my first axe today…correctly. Right before I sold my folk’s place I found a very rusted Boy’s Axe head. 2 1/4 lb. The little axe will live with me forever. I want to thank you for showing me how to hang it properly my friend. It meant a great deal to me. mp

    I love it!! I’m hanging a wedge beater for my buddy this afternoon. Beautiful rafting pattern head. It’s a no name and the pole isn’t hardened, but it’s got the weight and wide butt that those wedges love! I got tricked and assumed that it was a real rafting head because of the shape. Plastic wedges won’t hurt it’s butt anyway, so everything is fine and great. Great stuff man!

    I’ve got a store bought axe that the handle broke on me but it had one of those round wedges in it, so I bought a new proper hickory handle and reused the round metal wedge and it’s always stayed tight since. It seems like a good method.

    • @johnnorris1227
      @johnnorris1227 Год назад

      Going off its specs osage orange will most likely be a little heavier than a hickory handle but it should hold up better than any other domestic species.

    Hey buddy. First off thank you for what you do. How do you determine how long of a handle to use on a axe and a hatchet

    • @shawnmann9491
      @shawnmann9491 6 месяцев назад

      The easiest way for most common ( and decent to above average quality manufacturers) is take your head weight in pounds and multiply it by ten to get your handle length in inches-for axes and hatches.
      Now this formula might get thrown out the window when you’re dealing with custom/competition axes but it should get you in a safe ballpark for 99 percent of your needs.
      I did some basic research and can credit Mr Dogstar from the BushcraftUSA forum for this genius advice and his putting a chart together for all of the top manufacturers offerings.
      Don’t forget that the handle length is from the top of the axe head all the way to the handles end🤙🏼
