Ashley Laroche Says Courage is Essential to Being a Firefighter

Ashley Laroche says representation in firehouses matters. Seeing a woman firefighter is what sent her on the path to join the FDNY.
“When you see someone doing something you never thought you were able to do, I think it creates inspiration and it allows them to take a chance on themselves,” said Laroche. "Being a firefighter has allowed me to reach certain limitations that I thought I had for myself. It has truly changed who I am as a person. And I'm forever grateful because it does require a lot of work."
