Hello Everyone,
This is your local realtor (real estate agent), Brandon Barkema. As many of you know I used to be a contractor for many years and I wanted to use these skillsets to create some easy tutorials on repairs any homeowner can make with some basic tools and a little know-how. These can be used to help prepare a home to go on the market or make those repairs that an inspector may have found during the inspection. In this video, I will show you a few different ways to harden latex paint to dispose of properly. After the paint is hard you can put it in with your regular garbage (be sure to check your local waste company before disposing of any paint). You can use a paint hardener, kitty litter, oil dry, sawdust, or just leave it out in the sun for a while. Don't mind Duke, the bulldog, breathing in the background, he is there to make sure everything is done properly. how about using sawdust to dry it out?

As long as it is dried out you are good to go. You can also leave it out in the sun spread out on a tarp and then roll it up and dispose of it.

what do you do with the clumped up residue that is there after adding hardiner/kitty litter, etc

If it is latex paint it can be tossed in the garbage for most trash companies. We also have a place that will take 5 gallons of latex paint at no cost. www.paintcare.org/drop-off-sites/
