My brother was sat on the first carriage in the first seat. We arranged a trip on The Flying Scotsman for his 40th birthday. I had no idea thousands of people would line the route like this. I cried all day watching these kind of clips with people giving the train a cheer as it went past.
What a lovely thoughtful present for your brother. He must have loved it. I was lucky to see it at St David's and must admit I had a tear in my eye too 🙂
Yea! Surprises me too sometimes, its mainly because its a world record breaking engine and for some reason even though there are identical engines such as Tornado it attracts a huge crowd
It's all we've got left when it comes to steam trains ,they are all modern, ugly and like sitting on a bus now,but when i was young they were all steam with wooden compartments and little leather blinds, you thought you were on the Orient Express and the atmosphere was fantastic 😢
Great video Jacob so many people on the Seawall to get a glimpse of the Flying Scotsman, that is way to busy for me but I was happy with the location i picked.
@@JacobsTrainVideos Thank you. I'm 81 with happy train spotting memories. I lived close to what was Durston Station in Somerset. I was an inquisitive kid and used to ask loads of questions from the staff on the platform and was taken up to the the signal box. This was the junction of the GWR line and the Somerset and Dorset line. I remember the shelves of instruments and the massive levers for controlling the signals and points. I can still remember the smell of the lead acid batteries charging in the basement. Thank you for stirring the memories of Signal man Mr Gunney. Who knows, it's a small world, someone might know of him.
A great spot for filming with the dramatic appearance from round the corner and so on. Really good to see a mainline steam special without the de rigeur dirty diesel at the end. And giving it some welly too.
This loco always brings out the crowds. Even in the Portsmouth Flyer video, which went via Eastleigh, Fareham down to Portsmouth, the closer it got, the more crowds started to turn out. Stations PACKED to the edges. ruclips.net/video/JiF3M1b0BoE/видео.html

I googled the FS but couldn't find simple straight answers to these questions- When the FS was in regular service, did its route start in London and end in Edinburgh? How long did the run take? Was it nonstop all the way? What towns and cities did it pass through en rout,e?
Yes went along the East Coast Mainline from London to Edinburgh, was the first steam train tk travel at 100mph and im not sure if it stoppdd anywhere or not
Oh god it is just a steam Engine plucked from being scrapped by Alan Pegler as the only type of it's class, has bankrupted 3 owners and more than likely the National Railway Museum as well before long, there are loads of Steam Locos arround the Country that require just as much following as Flying Scotsman
Something I don't understand. Thousands will go to a Grand Prix to see a few souped up cars chase each other at speed and see the cars for a couple of seconds at most. And hundreds with stand and wait an hour or more to see a train pass them withing twenty seconds. Weird. I'd much rather watch the video.
The size of the crowd is almost as exciting as the locomotive, itself!!
Yea! Lots of people
just goes to show how many people show up for a 101 year old steam loco
Awesome. I can't think of many better sights and sounds than this !
Cheers!! Is impressive!
What an absolutely beautiful train, Great British locomotive!
Cheers I agree its quite majestic

Do you mean 100th birthday
@@motorsportsguy69 Shes talking about her brothers birthday not the FS
Right, sorry
Wow, that’s a lot of people❗️
Great shot Jacob👍

It gets a lot of publicity on MSM.
Your Big Boy attracts big :)) crowds too.
@ncs8730 Sure does!
British engineering at it's finest.
agreed!
Way better than American engines and thats coming from an American
Good to see it out without a thunderbird at the back end.
Yea definitely, this one had no diesel assistance throughout its whole journey, surviving ascending the Hemerdon and Rattery banks on it own!
Awesome sight!
Definitely!!
The amount of people to see this one particular loco staggers me.
Same!
Such a beautiful train 🚂
Definitely!
what a brilliant video jacob of the flying scotsman so good to see all the people regards kevin😊

There was alot of people ye, somone walked onto the wall with a step ladder so he could see over everyone!
Fantastic video, and great that such a crowd is waiting for the train (well, as long as you have a good place to watch for your own).
Cheers!! Never see crowds like thjs for any other steam train, its quite cool to see even people that have no interest in trains flock out to see it!
Fans lined up 5 deep to see the train for 2 seconds. That's dedication.
Definitely!! People love the Flying Scotsman
So cool to see soooo many people come to see a train go by.
Yea it is!
Not just an ordinary train, mind you!
@ncs8730 Apparently not!
People say scrap the flying
Scotsman look how many people were there and it’s a British icon
I agree, the Flying Scotsman is iconic but you can see the arguement against it from a safety and climate perspective
@@JacobsTrainVideos American diesels are probably worse
He's making dogs sing again! Nice video. Thankyou.
Haha always! Cheers!
They should put this locomotive on another American tour. I'd go see it.
Yea would be cool!
