Been a Lightning fan since the 1st puck drop, my 2 favorite moments were 1A) Dave Andreychuk holding the Cup, 1B) Stephen Stamkos holding the Cup
As a Bucs/Bolts/Rays fan I'm very familiar with sports pain, but there have been some pretty great times as well.

He was one of the best players in NHL'94. That Sabres team was really good, Hawerchuk, Mogilny, LaFontaine, Fuhr etc. Can't believe they didn't win a Stanley Cup.

Those Buffalo teams had talent up front, but lacked depth. I swear Fuhr has to be the most overrated "great" goalie of all-time. Roy badly outplayed him in that 93' series.

With Andreychuk I remember as a kid watching him play and I'm like "this guy isn't even moving, how does he stay in the league?" But I guess like Andrew Brunette, a player can be very slow but have his hands make up for it.

Dany Heatley also was that way for awhile before he completely fell off. He was actually a really good skater for his size in Atlanta before the car accident and after that he just never moved the same. Even during his prime in Ottawa he wasn’t a great skater and was usually just floating around but still put up 40-50 goals a year because his shot and hands were just that good. But unlike Dave, Heatley dropped off really fast once the injuries and age caught up.

The absolute prototype for the man you want in front of the net. Screens, rebounds, tap ins, you name it he's gonna get the job done. It won't be flashy, it'll just be effective. Perfect compliment to an elite center and speedy winger on the other side. LaFontaine and Mogilny being good examples.

As an Av fan,I felt so bad for him in 2001. Everybody was thrilled for Bourque...but most people forget Andruchuk came over with him in 2000. Losing WCFs game 7 in Dallas,(& Bourque hitting a post in the dying seconds)-was so rough for Andrechuk-cuz he left as free agent,as you pointed out.
I honestly thought about him, pretty soon after we beat NJ in game 7. Thought bout Adam Deadmarsh also-but he was here in 1996-so I really felt for Andrechuk. Was rooting very hard for him,& TB...& was kinda ironic he tied Bourque for longest drought-before also ending it.
Not counting my Avs 3 Cups-I was happier to see Andruchuk win, than probably any other player in my now 27 years as a big nhl fan. Oveckin with Washington,& TB in 2020 were the other teams I was pulling hard for that stand out. Im sure I'm forgetting some others. But I really wanted to see Andruchuk get it done.

We love him in Tampa. Now he’s a commentator with Bally Sports Sun here in Tampa. The fans love him. His lifting of the cup is still the most iconic moment in Tampa sports history.
Funny story. Before Dave came to town and the Lightning started winning, we were a bottom feeder franchise. We finished last for a few years and there was a joke that “If the Lightning win a Stanley Cup, hockey will end.” We won the cup in 04, and hockey ended.

Even in the 80s and 90s, for a guy not selected in the top 5 of a draft to come in and immediately put up good numbers is pretty rare. I know it was the 80s, but 37 points in 43 games for a rookie straight out of junior hockey in any era is still impressive, and he was a PPG player in his first full season. Even though a lot of goals were being scored, not everyone was putting up a ton of points.

Joined awful Lightning team in 2001, when everybody expected him to sign with contender to get a cup as Bourque did. I guess he knew what Lighting were capable of and he brought his leadership to a team who won a cup with him as a captain.

Good scorer, not the most complete player but reliable on the powerplay. I would argue Andreychuk is one of those HoF:ers that could probably have waited for their turn a bit longer in favor of others. But then again, it's hard to deny a player that scored 600+ goals their spot.

Regardless of the games played and I say this as a Lightning fan who loved Dave, neither players were undeniable or exceptional at their peaks.
