- Apollo 12 - Splashdown (Full Mission - Day 10)
November 24, 1969, 20:58:24 UTC
The final day of the Apollo 12 mission - The crew wakeup is followed by photographs and a P23 update. Solar Eclipse phots are taken in what the crew called the most visually spectacular moment of the mission. A last correction burn is made as they approach the earth and Service Module separation occurs. Re-entry is followed by TV coverage of the splashdown. The crew are transferred to the USS Hornet and into the Mobile Quarantine Facility where President Nixon calls them. The second mission to the lunar surface is complete.
Mission duration: 10 days, 4 hours, 36 minutes, 24 seconds

Watching now..love this Era in time.
Enjoy!
Pete Conrad came into our Motorcycle Shop years ago. Still have his autograph. A colorful character that loved life!!
Awesome
The Apollo 12 crew were the best sent to the moon because these three men (Conrad-Bean-Gordon) were true friends in life.
Thank you LM5 for another great production! From what I have read about this mission the re-entry was just a big worry for mission control as anything else because there was a possibility or speculation that the parachutes might not have worked because of the lightning strike at liftoff
Thanks Joe
Great job LM 5 you havet complet apollo 12 full mission. Apollo 12 2 Eva when is ready? now wait for apollo 14 full mission and maybe apollo 10 reentry
Yup still working on Ap12 EVA 2 - that will take a while yet to get done - and am taking a rest now for a while to decide whats next - several projects on the go at once but yes will get to 14 eventually
@@lunarmodule5 I have in my play list Apollo 15 & 16 from " HOME MADE DOCUMENTARYS" ..you by chance that guy?
@@fredthompson4568 Hi Fred no I am not the guy from HD - however I do know him, makes awesome content
Thanks lots for another great video, LM 5!!!! You're the best!!!! :) :) :) :)
Welcome!
It's really wonderful that you have put this together and made it available to everyone. Thanks so much for this fantastic work!!! PS in addition to being a great scientific story, the flight of Apollo 12 is a story of friendship, teamwork, and how to take a joyful attitude toward your work.
Thanks Ron and I couldn't agree more
Outstanding replay of the Apollo 12 reentry, splashdown, and recovery! Your copy of the NBC-TV footage was of better quality by far than what another site previously uploaded years ago. Brought back many memories back to me, as I was 17 years old and a senior in high school then, and watched it completely, including NBC News anchorman Frank McGee in New York tossing to a Gulf Oil commercial. Many thanks!
@@GaryW48 thank you, much appreciated and glad it's brought back many good memories
Is that Bill Pozzi searching for the D ring? Lol, he speaks about this on Jocko's podast ep 284 i think
Only Al could get himself knocked out with a camera!
And pointed the Video camera into the sun on the Moon. Oops. Poor guy had some bad luck with cameras. No wonder he went into painting instead of photography as his hobby. :D
Great stuff.
Were the crew told that the lightening strike could have affected the parachute deployment?
I am sure it was on their minds...especially after seeing the "streaks" on the command Module in lunar orbit
@@lunarmodule5 Ah OK. There was a secure communication channel wasn't there? I remember hearing about it. Or was I imagining it? 😀
I don't think so but not sure...
My Dad is the Guy hanging the 3 more like before sign....
Thanks again LM5! Remember that she rode on top of one of those thirteen beauties.
Thanks John
@@lunarmodule5 Thank YOU for all your hard work !
welcome!
That's amazing wonderful watching these videos. I enjoy these videos of space exploration.
Thanks Neil
Bill Pozzi was on the Jocko podcast. Bill talks about this event. Well done LM5!
Thanks Ben
Song @ 22:35 is country & western star Faron Young's _Wine Me Up_ - a Pete Conrad selection.
The amount of pride in this video is too damn high! Thank you again and again LM5
Thanks Hicham
Wonderful job, Lunarmodule5!! Looking forward to Apollo 15 full mission--my favorite mission of all time!!
Hey I totally forgot that Apollo 12 had to be finished lol. I'm actually in the process of rewatching Aurora 7 for some reason my brain wanted some Mercury all of a sudden ahahah. Will watch this as soon as possible and always thanks for your work
always welcome Yassine!
Think this is going to be my favorite one due to the footage of the solar eclipse from the spacecraft. That is amazing.
Yeah I love that bit too!
3:31:14 is it me or that guy is shooting at sharks ?
Never noticed that before lol
Maybe he is firing a water dye pellet?
@@lunarmodule5
He is shooting a line gun. The frogman then grabs the line and secures the capsule to it, or uses it to pull out a larger cable to secure it.
@@dansv1 thanks I still learn new stuff about Apollo everyday!
Absolutely love it. Thanks for the production, really immersive MOCR views.
Thanks Steve - there was only one MOCR view lol
@@lunarmodule5 That goes for all of the series. :)
well saved! lol
Movin' the ol' minus sign at 2:08:17. :) :)
I missed that! lol
Reentry MOCR! I'd know that game anywhere!
It's actually from Paolo's original but looking into if Petri and I can work together to with re-entry to show live consoles
No stream?? Some form of error here
No stream because its not a historic time line event - just a "normal" video release - hope all ok mate
Yes, it’s working now. Wasn’t working early. All well here, steadily emerging from the pandemic and getting busier. Hope all ok in your neck of the woods.
@@hardakml if you were watching on a mobile there is a copyright issue which I have challenged so there might not be an issue at present
Lol they didn't identify Faron Young funny
