Fun fact - the Beasties originally started as a hardcore punk band, this particular song was titled in homage to the British band Motorhead album "No Sleep 'til Hammersmith".
This was the very first song I heard by the Beastie Boys and the Beastie Boys were the first music that I fell in love with that wasn't a band my parents or older sibling (sister) listened to so I feel like a weird sense of pride like I did something... 🤷♂️ LOL
I was 12 when this came out, and it was one of three hiphop albums that were pivotal to my development as a music fan around that time. It was Licensed To Ill, Raising Hell, and Bigger And Deffer. I’d been listening to hiphop for a couple years at that point thanks to breakdancing comps, but those albums are what turned me into a hardcore hiphop fan. When hiphop was reaching out to a white kid in Kentucky you know it was starting to reach far and wide.
The Beastie Boys and the Young and the Useless (Ad Rocks punk band) were playing clubs in NYC since 1978. They merged into one band by 1981 and their first recording went out in 1983. They were the FIRST RAP GROUP to sell A MILLION RECORDS, they had the biggest selling RAP ALBUM OF ALL TIME, they STARTED DEF JAM, discovered LL COOL J. The Beasties were the Elvis's of Rap and the Crowned Princes of Rap. Run DMC and Jay are the Kings.
Great review! But any Beastie Boy fan will say that you gotta review a song or two from the Paul's Boutique album. "High Plains Drifter" or "Shake Your Rump" is a great video. Every song on that album is a banger. As always, love the reviews!! Keep em coming and Happy New Years
Rick Rubin started Def Jam in 1984 and left Def Jam in 1988. Before starting Def Jam he was hired by the Beastie Boys to be their DJ. I got heated on the reaction that you said Run-Dmc basically wrote the album, they actually got co-writing credits on one song and wrote one. This time you all made valid points about them loving hip hop but never biting other styles (Run Dmc a little), jumping on the latest trend, they just did what felt good to them. I do not care for Intergalactic or Sabotage either, but you all should always be real in the reactions if you do not feel it than you don’t feel it. It would be cool if you checked out something from the album Paul’s Boutique, maybe Shadrach, Car Thief, Shake Your Rump anything except Hey Ladies. I like what you all are doing, quality reactions.
Beasties had an awesome song called "Too Many Rappers" with NAS. There's also a pure rock and roll banger called "Gratitude". There's the super funky "So Whatcha Want?" And there's the purist hip hop of "3 MC's and One DJ" which also has a really fun video. Another fun video and classic hip hop on the song "Alive." There are tons of great live Beastie Boys performances but watch "Ch-Check It Out" From The Subway To The Stage on Letterman. It's incredible. Beastie Boys also have a great full length live video shot in Glasgow Scotland in 1999 that's on RUclips.
"Ch-Check It Out" From The Subway To The Stage on Letterman. is a master class in live hip hop at the highest level. These guys should 100% react to that.
@@anthonyv6962 That they perfectly time their verses as they move down the street for the entire first half of the song and then explode onto Letterman's stage right when MCA says "Shazam and Abacadabra!" is, like you said, an absolute master class. Such a brilliant live performance.
beasties weren't just "white rappers" who respected the foundations, they were foundation for many acts. Props to Run DMC but listen to most rap before them breaking out (both bands) and a few years later. Em was hugely influential too, but b boys were another level. Who helped produce the first LL and Def Jam records? Paul's boutique is my favorite.. deep dive is due.. But let me also suggest Rock Hard and Beastie Groove. The link below has two more bsides. And you might get struck for RH, the sample was never cleared and their first EP for Def Jam long deleted.
Truly the group that crossed all barriers. Bringing the middle class white kids into hip hop. Only Eminem has come close since. Although I don't listen to hip hop or rap anymore, Beasty Boys will always have a place on my heart.
I was just 13 when I saw them live on their "License to Ill" tour. Mike D. Tossed me a can of beer & his chain, but someone tried to snatch it from me. The chain broke & they got the VW emblem 😢. Later I gave my girl the chain to wear. We broke up, of course, she kept it & I never saw it again. Still a great concert & just completely berserk.😅
Raising Hell Raising Hell is the third studio album by American hip hop group Run-D.M.C., released on May 15, 1986, by Profile Records. The album was produced by Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin. Raising Hell became the first Platinum and multi-Platinum hip hop record.
Hard to imagine. The Beasties broke the world. Every Carnival was blasting the Beastie Boys ... No rides till Beasties. Check out the people that were braught in by these guys. Check out the millions of fams that had no idea what hiphop/or rap was. Eminem wasn't a thought when these guys were done sleeping on couches and bringing a new style to the playground ..
I'm not a big Beastie Boys fan but I do like this song. Yesterday, I listened to a song I haven't heard in a long while. The song is Dragon Attack by Queen. I immediately thought of you guys reacting to the song. I pictured Corey dancing in his chair, not that he definitely will, but I think he will. Anyway, that's what I was thinking. Thank you for your channel, I really enjoy it.
Had a friend on Facebook one time post 'If you had a sex song, what would it be?'' I answered 'No Sleep Till Brooklyn!' She's like 'Dudeus you're not right!'. 😎🤠
Great vid as always. I would love to see you guys react to Ren - "What You Want?" He is an artist who has really been getting a lot of notoriety the past few months and the vibe on the music video for that song reminds me of Beastie Boys.
I'm not a fan of the Beastie Boys at all. I can get into most any type of music, but to me these guys are just awful. To each his own I guess. I feel the same way about the Grateful Dead. I don't understand how they have such a huge following because there's not much I like about them.

fun fact metal fans loves this song even though the video makes fun of us
Legendary song, hilarious video, classic Beastie Boys. And the dude shredding on the guitar is Kerry King from the band Slayer.
And "Slayer goes to Church" is a favorite too 👍🐶😎🇺🇸 Happy New Year 🎊
Thanks. I was wondering who he was.
Fun fact - the Beasties originally started as a hardcore punk band, this particular song was titled in homage to the British band Motorhead album "No Sleep 'til Hammersmith".
Thanks Sheldon haha
LOVE ❤️ BEASTIES 😅
Kerry King, guitarist for Slayer, played the guitar riffs and solo. I love this song especially being from Brooklyn NY.
Beastie Boys forever
Beasties are serious musicians that never took them selves too seriously..
This was the very first song I heard by the Beastie Boys and the Beastie Boys were the first music that I fell in love with that wasn't a band my parents or older sibling (sister) listened to so I feel like a weird sense of pride like I did something... 🤷♂️ LOL
I used to love this song, long live the Besties boys
6:02 This is such a classic !! The whole album was straight FIRE
Beasties’ Three MC’s and One Deejay- pure hip hop gold!!!!❤( the live MTV performance in the basement with Mixmaster Myke).
My fave and worth the reaction for the one (sic) take on LIVE video! SO FIRE🔥
All 80-90 east coast rap rules. Beastie boys were on top with the entertainment value. The lyrics just got better with every album
Three songs you should do 3 MC's 1 DJ, Root Down, Shake Your Rump
That was Kerry King from Slayer on guitar at the End.
I'm from the Bronx myself but, I still ride with this.

One of my favorite songs by beastie boys they were my group in 1987 and 88 they were huge back then rip to adam yacht
I was a full fledged hard rock/metal kid in the 80’s but I did have this cassette!
Kerry King from Slayer 🤘🏽🔥🔥🔥🤘🏽
I love your discussions so much, it's like a true reaction
The dust-smoking manager mentioned in the song was Russell Simmons

That’s why they’re 3 of the Godfathers of Hip Hop, them and Run DMC put it on the map and were in NYC when it started
Would love to see a reaction to So-whacha-want or 3 MCs and 1 DJ!!

I'm particular to Car Thief

I was like 12 years old when Beastie boys came out with their first album and every song on that album are good. Best rappers of my time.
Another video from them, "Watcha Want!" Is great. Quite different, but a banger.
Happy New Year, guys! Your channel is awesome! 🙂

Classic!, my favorite is 3 MC's and One DJ ft. Mix Master Mike ( Video version )
I was just 13 when I saw them live on their "License to Ill" tour. Mike D. Tossed me a can of beer & his chain, but someone tried to snatch it from me. The chain broke & they got the VW emblem 😢. My fave is She’s On It😊
That’s Kerry King guitarist from Slayer in the video and he did the solo
FenOm is right - best album 🙌

Please check out the video version of Jimi James!🖖🏼
Rhymin & Stealin is the only song I know of to sample Led Zeppelin.
It uses the drum track from When the Levee Breaks. Check it out…
Had a friend on Facebook one time post 'If you had a sex song, what would it be?'' I answered 'No Sleep Till Brooklyn!' She's like 'Dudeus you're not right!'. 😎🤠

Great vid as always. I would love to see you guys react to Ren - "What You Want?" He is an artist who has really been getting a lot of notoriety the past few months and the vibe on the music video for that song reminds me of Beastie Boys.
Kerry king of slayer the guitar player
You should check out Ryhmin n stealin video. It’s taken from one of their concerts.
Funny that he shoots up Marshall amps and I’m listening right now on Marshall headphones
Kid Rock also blended Rap and Rock! He even paid homage to the Sugar Hill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight” with his song “BAWITDABA!”
Kid rock suks he's not even close to th BB

Why the “ bleeps “
Insincere
And all they were doing was mocking glam metal.
Worst Beastie song ever!
