How-to and Reviews
Mine is 10 years old, and still going strong, but, I don't wear them often.
Yours is a testament of how durable this sandals are.
Very few shoe brands as far as I know that you wear everyday, under every weather condition and environment, except snow, could last that long.
Tevas start to fray after 1 year of daily constant use, except, on snowy canditions.
Best bang for your buck sandals.
Absolutely! I’ve been wearing these every day, for everything, and they are still holding up exceptionally. No rear strap issues have emerged on these ones.
I drive a commercial vehicle doing deliveries
Walking loads into restaurants
This is the most comfortable footwear ever I love it and won't stop wearing it ☺️🤙
Best buy ever and I can only hope they’ll produce it forever
My new pair is starting to fail in the same spot again which is disappointing. But, they are two years old now and I have abused them. I will still purchase them again.
I'm 300+ lb and go through all daily wear shoes in about 6 months. Usually the stitching around the sole, and the sole itself wearing out very quickly. These are the exception, I've been wearing these constantly for 2 years, the sole is barely worn, stitching is strong. They seem to have stretched a bit in the heel area, because they are easier to put on and fit a little looser, but they are still solid shoes, just not quite as form fitting after 2 years. Great shoes. I got another pair just because I want something more snug for anything athletic. I soaked the old ones in some castile soap and they look like new...wear them for everything else.
That’s great! Thanks for sharing!
I agree that the sole is built like a tank, and it’s very comfortable.
I will remember your tip for cleaning them!
I had my first pair for five years, and have just replaced them with another pair of the same. They've served me well on expeditions from the Galapagos to the Great Barrier Reef. I'll still keep the old pair exlusively for saltwater kayaking, as Stonefish are prevalent in some of the estuaries I kayak in, and these Keens are the only water shoes I trust to stop a Stonefish stinger from coming right through the sole.
Awesome!
Funny video and I appreciate the review. Just ordered my first pair of these, after wearing Reef sandals daily, thought I'd give them a try.
Nice! I don’t think you will regret it. I seriously punished them in all environments. I wear them daily all summer. Very rugged and comfortable.
Bought a pair of these in Spain 4-5 years ago, still a daily user and the best pair of sandals I ever had at that.
I am a 110 kg dude so these thick vibram soles are just the kind I like, although they might not be for smaller people as the rubber soles might be to hard if you weigh say 50 kg.
Awesome! That’s a good point!
My new set has held up great. It’s been a year, and they’re still like new. I have not experienced the damaged heel strap this time.
Too bad keen hasn't improved the weaker less durable heel strap system after all these years. Making them more durable/repairable would keep them out of landfill
Best kept secret; when the heel strap gives up, cut just behind the ankle guard on each side, toss the strap and now you have a great pair of "slip-on" Keens. Works well...! Don't toss 'em...
Nice! Unfortunately, I tossed my 4 year old pair. But I won’t make that mistake again.
I've been wanting to buy a pair of Keen's and have been searching on Ebay. I still like to do research, even with used items, so I've been watching a handful of reivews. Your review was absolutely the funniest and most entertaining. Sometimes guys are too focused on coming across as really tough and gruff, but your review made me laugh out loud! Thank you.
lol. Glad it was entertaining!
Very entertaining review good editing. This is my first pair of these shoes. They were $110. If I could get two years out of them I would be very happy. Thanks for posting.👍🙌
I think you’ll be very happy with them. I wore the heck out of mine this summer, and they are still in excellent condition!
This video has inspired me to try hiking with my pair.
Awesome.
I'm getting a new pair. They really work.
I’ve been looking at these recently. From what I have seen, the leather ones are real move.
Nice. I really like these, except they started falling in the elastic again this year. I’m going to try something different next year. I’ll check out the leather ones.
I have 3 pairs…love them 😎
Keens are the best sandals I've had.
Same here!
The newer ones certainly seems to have superior stitching, and possibly better material between the two straps
My new pair is over a year old now and has no issues with the stitching so far. They are holding up great!
Your review is solid! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
lol at the hammer. great review!
Breaks happen literally in the same place on every pair, been through 3 or 4 pairs. I'm done moving on to their more durable versions now, Arroyo ii or Targhee iii sandals instead.
Yeah, my new pair started failing in the same area again a couple months ago.
Yup, i wear them in the dirt mostly, out with the dogs, they last me a year, or at about a year the ankle stitching is falling to pieces, use in water && sand doesn't help either. I weight like 160lbs, so I imagine someone near 200 or above, they don't last as long, with the same use.
Solid review
Anybody know how these preform on slick wet rock? For river hikes and canyoneering?
fav part of the video - snow mooooodeeee - unlocked! hehehe 🤣😆
I like the sandals. They're very comfortable, but the claim they remain odor-free is nonsense I have had to repeatedly wash them, and soak them in a combo of white vinegar and baking soda.
I just gave mine the sniff test and there is no odor. But I wore them in a river all day then left them outside in the sun the next day, so that may have cleaned existing odors. I will check again in a week or two.
Thank for the awesome review 👍🏻 Btw i planing to buy keen uneek sandal. What your opinion with that model?
They do look interesting. They appear to be light duty in compression and more for fashion than functional use in water and rugged terrain.
Let me know how they work out!
Great review! I was wondering if you think they’d hold up at a place like Disney? So not necessarily hiking but long distance, all day walking. Thanks!
Absolutely! They are comfortable and secure and perfect for that. I’ve worn them on several vacations where I walked miles on concrete.
@@HowtoandReviewsOfficial Thanks for the reply, buying some today.
I’ve found they’re especially great at Disney during the summer when it frequently rains in the afternoon. No wet shoes or socks to deal with! And if the feet start to swell from the heat, just loosen the laces!
Great video! Ever tried Tevas or Chacos? Or other brands to compare
I’ve been buying this style of closed toe sandal for 15 years. I have tried several other brands and the Keens have definitely definitely the best.
Unfortunately, I don’t remember the brands of the previous ones. Not Tevas or Chacos. A couple pairs were Airwalk.
ok can imagine closed sandals are best for security reasons@@HowtoandReviewsOfficial
You kick ass..👍👍
Do you recommend the H2? As I understand it, H2 just means it was designed to dry out faster. Did you use the H2's for hiking/walking, or more for water activities?
I definitely used them more for hiking and walking. That was 95+% of the use. However, I did get them wet plenty of times on beaches and lakes and revers.
I have a good 30+ miles on the new pair. Mostly concrete and grass, but also climbing boulders along a lake and in a lake.
I would absolutely recommend them for mostly walking and hiking.
If you are looking at heavy water use, I would look for something different like water shoes.
Can last in Indian condition?
Lol, thousands of miles, I don't think most dogs will be able to handle that many miles. If it lasted 3.5 years and used the shoes often, then you definitely got more than your money's worth. I'm a shoe alternating type of person myself. It keeps my feet healthy. Thanks for the interesting and good review.
I definitely got my money’s worth! I’ve had the new pair for a little over a year now, and they are in excellent condition. They are holding up great!
Have you tried the leather version. it does not have the separate sawn heel strap.
I personally have not. I’ll check them out next time!
It's the tiger stripes for me
Guess what my friend I will getting a pair of Keen Newport H2 sandals on July 1st from Zappos but different color.
Awesome! Just in time for summer!
Yeah it’s quite too small but my foot fits perfectly it’s 11 size like yours.
@@JuanOrtiz-ku2wz buying shoes online is tough. You don’t know if they will fit till you receive them and try them on.
I already told you How to and Reviews. The 11 sized Keen Newport H2 sandals it fits perfectly. You said you bought them from your local store right and I bought them from Zappos in online.
@@JuanOrtiz-ku2wz yes, I remember. I’m glad they fit perfectly!
Hi. Nice sandals. Will you do other videos of these sandals?
Now that I m starting fresh with another new pair, I could make some good real-time videos of abusing them.
@@HowtoandReviewsOfficial yeah, that would be great! Hope to see other videos of these sandals soon!
The old one is nice. What color are those?
They are both the same color! The old ones are just worn out.

Do they have anything for flat feet?
For the Keen Newport specifically, it’s just one design. They’re all the same. I’m not sure about other products that they offer.
The tiger stripes...😂
Totally have a keen tan…. Year round 😂😂
lol!
The soles get slippery.
4 years? But you dont wear them all year round?
That’s true. 4 spring/summer/falls. But they are 4 years old.
The most horrible sandal I ever buyed! I tried them for one day and I couldn't walk for the next 3 days, they are just torture for the little toe and the heel!
85€ for nothing but pain!
Also the grip is bad! I slipped many times..
Sorry to hear they were not comfortable for you.
Since you’ve only owned them for a few days, return them.
You didn't mention sizing. Their website states that they run small and to size up. Is that what you found?
Great question. My shoes are typically size 11, and my Keens are size 11 and fit perfect.
When I purchased the first pair a couple years ago, I tried ordering them online. They were too tight and I sent them back. After that, I just went to a local store so I could try actually them on.
From my personal experience, I recommend purchasing your normal shoe size. But, like purchasing any shoes online, you won’t know for sure until you try them on. Purchase local if you can.
