Hi there; thank you for introducing IComendium. I wish I had known about them before publishing this video, and I would have made it a top 5 with Compendium possibly (after trying it first, of course) pretty high on the list. It's a great price point and perfectly suited to the needs and unwritten rules of the art world for artists. Thank you for sharing; I'll pin this comment so others can discover it as well! 🙌
Yes Squarespace definitely. I have looked at this in detail. Current distractions have it on hold upon overcoming these will subscribe. I actually took out their trail offer and was impressed.
@@mikenoneofyourbusiness7122 Hi Mike, getting noticed or building a following is a different topic that we cover in other videos. Feel free to watch our video on how to get discovered as an artist next or our other videos with career advice for artists.
Hi there, thank you for tuning in. Adobe Portfolio can indeed be a great alternative. However, I thought it was only free for those with an Adobe subscription. Otherwise, it was approximately $15/month, and the domain name is not included. But please correct me if I am wrong. Have a great day!
@@mikenoneofyourbusiness7122 Advertising and marketing (which are not the best ways to climb to ladder of the art world) are two different things-in this video, we discuss the ideal platform to have an industry-approved website. Further, you don't need a huge fan following, or pay for ads, or go offline and sell via word of mouth; you can also work towards gallery representation and apply to art opportunities. And to do is, you will need to have a professional artist website. So the website has an indirect effect on your sales.
That’s not really how it works; it is an independent survey in which we promote the best option, not the platform that would pay us the best comission (otherwise we would be promoting Artlogic or Wix). Even more, thanks to this promotion Squarespace is 10% less expensive for our audience and we can monetize these free surveys, articles, and videos indirectly. We offer free advice, free videos, and try to save hard-working artists money while doing so.
@@contemporaryartissuebut you delete comments that respectfully disagree with you. WordPress cost $39 all up and you could hire a pro to build, promote, and maintain your site with the change. It would also be faster and more scalable. Your video isn't well researched.
@@SpaceGlizzy Hi there, I have never deleted a comment in which someone respectfully disagrees with me-and it happens all the time; I love these discussions and encountering various opinions and perspectives on this channel. However, I have hidden comments or, once, even an entire profile when they are trolling or harassing my users and me in the comment section with excessive and false information or rude and inappropriate comments. Further, we literally promote Wordpress in this video, partly because of the great price point. Outsourcing to a pro will make it more expensive, of course. Further, Squarespace websites are pretty much as fast as Wordpress websites and you don't have to be knowledgeable to make a fast website, whereas with Wordpress, you can unknowingly make some mistakes slowing down your site. When it comes to scaling your website, that's not applicable with artist website.
@@mikenoneofyourbusiness7122 Having a Facebook page is less professional than having an industry-approved website if you want to find gallery representation or be accepted by residencies, grants, awards, etc. So it does make a difference. We do not advise doing paid ads; they are frowned upon in the art world and ineffective. Feel free to watch our videos on how to get discovered next.
Hi, I follow you on you tube and enjoy your advice and recommendations, forgive me for mentioning this but some5kmes, as is on this video the wording is not so clear, so comprehensive. Thank you
What about ICompendium. Have you seen that site builder?

Needs to inform ..... Includes paid promotion. As it seems not to say this, so it is basically an underhanded advertisement.
