You know, it just amazes me every time I look at a video about this LR, just how seemingly effortlessly it just "walks" over the rocks, boulders and steps! I mean the gearbox and transfer combo just harmonises with that diesel engine.... Together it's just simply music! Thanks again, and from the Western Cape in South Africa..... keep 'em coming. Best to you!
I’m a Jeep girl, but I gotta say that defender is amazing! I would love to do a diesel swap in my XJ. The drivetrain ratios seem perfect in that weapon of a rig! ❤️🐞

Bonjour les gars, La Jeep, forte de sa jeunesse, en impose , mais la veille et honorable dame ne se laisse pas conter. Bravo à tous.
"Easy does it!" The Land Rover driver uses much less throttle. He basically idles his diesel Land Rover over the obstacles. The Jeep---a Rubicon at that---driver uses throttle. Lots of throttle. One of these drivers is a gentle one. The other is more into brute force and brute power. Nice video!
Nice match up. Jeep tires didn't look aired down enough, but sometimes the camera and time zones away fools the eye. I didn't see the tires conforming to the rock at all.
He was aired down to 10-12 psi from memory. Like you said its sometimes hard to tell from the videos. Thanks again for watching and dropping us a comment 👍
@@waltermeono5253 yes the Series 1 LR got is roots from the Willies Jeep, that is correct but a long time ago. LR has come up with many firsts for 4wds since that even Jeep has adopted. Every make has it's advantages and disadvantages.
I have a Jeep myself but if I ever get the opportunity to get a defender then that would be the one. Good old fashioned looks and sounds without all the luxury and creature comforts.
Felt a bit like a race between the tortoise and the hare. Jeep with a heavy right foot made it look difficult while the slow and steady Landrover just cruised up making look easy :)
There's always going to be differences between rigs. Some are saying it's the difference in gearing others say its the difference between 35s and 37s. In this instance i think it's the difference between a petrol engine and the low down torque of the diesel. Love the hair and tortoise analogy!
Only difference I can see here is that the LR driver has pick different lines or do to be much cleaver or had more experience from the Jeep driver. I can assure you that Jeep can walk exact same on the same lines if they will have same clearance and both equip with Diesel engine to have the torque in low rpm. But one thing for sure that in the Jeep you drive more comfortable while in LR you need to open windows to put outside your arm to feel a little bit comfortable ....
Another fantastic video 👌🏼 To me it seems that the Jeep driver was more interested in the sound of his exhaust. He was fluctuating the revs so much, nothing steady about his driving. Easy way to break things when sinking the right boot so frequently. Surely with the gearing it has he could have crept up without the need for so many revs.
Love your vids and your landy. I've a 110 too running 33's but I want to go for bigger tyres, what mods did you have to do to fit those 37's? I was told having big tyres would make me break a lot, which axels do you have?? I've land Rover axels with Ashcroft inside them, do you think it will work?? Keep it going, great job 👍
Thank you, we will keep sharing our adventures 😊 33s are a good size and i ran them for a long time. 35s are probably the limit you could reliably run Ashcroft or other LR HD gear on. I don't think they will last long on 37s if you're planning on doing serious off road stuff.
The LR: slow, easy, constant movement and momentum. The Jeep: stop, go, rev, spin, stop, go. Don't know if it was the driver or the lack of low-end torque, but that Jeep was not efficient.
The jeeps right foot would be better on a drag strip instead of an off road course 😉. Excellent video as ALWAYS!!! I’m so glad that you got ride of the Jeep and went back to the Land Rover!! ( unless you are sad about loosing the Jeep and it wasn’t intentional, then I’m sad for you)
Great video again! Love the raw power of this LR and the diesel V8 sound! When I will a realistic RC video of the TRX4 Defender, I would like to use the sound of your LR ! Keep on the good work! Those must be fantastic days of adventure!
That County sure is purdy! I would love to know how you managed to get such a wide track! And the long travel, and everything really. I want to get my Perentie, her name is Heather, just the right outfit. Maybe similar to yours there. I'm slowly building up ideas, and the bank account...

Love the way the defender just cruises up and the jeep .plenty of welly ..that’s why I have a defender
The gearing of defender is incredible, only accelerates for more speed.
