Pickup effect gone, ai penalties and correct me if I'm wrong but slightly touching the curbs didnt seem to completely to zap all momentum either. This seems like we could be in for a good year of racing

A tone-down of it would've probably been a good middle ground, but I guess we wont know until we get to try it out for ourselves. Shame if they made the game easy.

That pickup effect in MotoGP 23 was not realistic, at all. At all. Only people who know nothing about bikes, would think that it made any sense, from a realism perspective.
Please could you let the developers know that force feedback is virtually non existent for PC on 23 and RIDE 5. There should be feedback on breaking, acceleration and grip level.
People saying pick up effech isnt real have never ridden a motorcycle through a corner. Ive had several 1000cc superbikes among many other bikes and ALL bikes pick up when accelerating, we even get tought this at driving School. The intensity of the effect can be discussed, however it is 100% more realistic to have some pick up effect in the game! People saying the rear immediately step out is pure wrong. I use the throttle to raise the bike out of corners when driving hard. Everybody does. Thats also why you brake all the way until apex. Because you lean more whilst braking and raise the bike back up on the throttle
Oh man, they still can't reduce the autopilot time! we should be able to ride the bike in the pit lane, but if not, at least take the auto pilot off the moment we exit the pits, not 10 seconds after...
Hey Robo, damn rubber flew off your controller stick (now that's realism lol). What controller are you using ? I got a cheap PDP Xbox controller for use on PC, even though it is wired but it is a really good controller and solid build ! (£20.00 from Argos)
So a few minor changes, but not significant changes to the physics, the way the bike reacts under braking and acceleration still does not look natural as in the real world.........I am sorry, in all due respect, but I have given up on MotoGP games until they change the physics. I would also like to add that they should have built the SBK game closer to the same physics as ride 5 which feels more natural, but the SBK game was built on the MotoGP game, rather a facelift and called it SBK ...........anyway thanks for your review RB46, I personally will not waste my money now. Ride 5 is the only one worth it at this stage for me. I have played MotoGP for many years and I road superbike for many years.......but this is just my humble opinion that the direction they have gone with the physics engine is not positive. Not everything with the game is negative.
Actually, the rider still doesn't lean over completely in those corners on Portimao (T5) or Catalunya (T10), you can see it clearly in this video as well. So the same bug continues that started in GP22, on those two specific corners only and nowhere else. Would be interesting to hear what the reason is that they have the same very specific and localized bug for the third year running. I would call it lazy or even negligent, but surely there must be something so wrong with how the physics deals with those corners, that they've had to not allow full lean in those areas to "fix" it. Three years is a long time to wait for the rider to lean as much as I tell them to, on all corners and all tracks.
That pickup effect was unrealistic nonsense. The problem, 99% of MotoGP players don't know anything about bikes, so it's easy to fool them with rubbish physics. The only true bike sim, is RiMS Racing. The MotoGP games, just don't cut it. Not if you're looking for simulation.
Milestone should bring out a game which combines the Ride, motogp, and mxgp games. Make it similiar to raceroom or iracing. Support it for 10 years with paid content (hey they're a business after all). I'd buy it tomorrow if they released constant updates and content!
Finally Robo the pick-up on throttle is gone 28:40 is music to my ears. To be able to actually throttle out of bends without going wide. Now the fun factor can be brought back in because 23 was a rolling snooze simulator in my opinion where you never got to hear the engine in corners. It seem very shaky and wobbly, how did you feel about that, more sensitive again than 23?
Yes they fixed the pickup effect! Was so infuriating in MotoGP 23 as the AI didn’t have it. Rider transfers and Ai potentially get penalties like the player! Can’t wait for May 2nd!
i see a gyro there for leaning, which is good for finding the limit of bike, if the bike about to crash(low side) we knew it already so we can save it, and i dont think its necessary , and the sounds more realistic tho, i watch motogp a lot specially on board mode, and the sound is same, which is good
I'm really curious how many of the people commenting on the pickup effect being a good thing actually ride a road race bike. They do not just stand straight up and lose all ability to steer because you went full throttle at the apex. In fact, with an IMU, TC and ETV mapping this is quite the common practice to roll on early and let the electronics clean everything up. I am glad it's gone, its actually more realistic this way.
Totally agree, I have tried returning to GP23 multiple times but I just can't enjoy it with that pickup effect. It kills all fun of pushing the limits, hearing the bike which is a big part of the fun factor and badass feel. They did the right thing to remove it, let the best rider win now by pushing the limits.
Thanks for the video and review but I don't see much to make me want to buy the game after spending so much time perfecting my ride on 23. And for those who don't know how to get pass the throttle pick up all you need to do is reduce the final ratio to around two clicks and reduce the gears down to two clicks especially in 3rd gear upwards keeping first and second gear no higher than 3 clicks. For tracks like sachsenring use 1 click and 2 clicks for first gear and 1 on the final ratio, and SHAZAM throttle issue GONE.
