That first story ag is something i can't understand. When my wife was in the hospital for 11 days dying the entire staff was my support team and family. I knew everyone by name and what they did and they knew me. I WASN'T GOING ANYWHERE as Angie was my soulmate. They even brought a rollup bed in for me and would always bring an extra meal to make sure i was eating. They let me use the shower and would personally bring me books to read to her. When i lost her, nurses, doctors, technicians, janitors and security all came in to cry with me and hold me. God bless our hospital workers. I hope ag one day gets it how much they actually care.

Once upon a time. Security cameras were a novelty & the wild Karen's would run free making up all the lies they wanted because it always came to a 'He said - She said' situation. The Karen's (or family) seem to have a good standing in their community, so the situation would mostly come out in the Karen favor.
Then the 'evil' security cameras started popping up all over the place & cell phones have video cameras. So, now the Karen has no way to manipulate the situation to get her way.

Tabards would be better, they're much easier to put on and take off (and people like me with bad shoulders can wear them...my Range of Motion doesn't allow me to wear any shirt that doesn't have buttons/zipper from top to bottom).
A Tabard is like a huge beach towel with a hole in the center. Your head goes through the hole and the ends drape down your front and back with ties near the bottom to keep it from flapping around in the wind (like a cloth sandwich board).
Make them Black with Eye-Searing Burn-Out-Your-Optic-Nerve Neon Fluorescent Glow-in-the-Dark so Bright/Obnoxious even a Blind Person can see it Yellow lettering...

If a patient is always rude to the nurses, they tend to leave him wait.
That misfired one time, I was in a hospital.
My "roommate" was often rude to nurses, complained very often and rang the bell often. I calmly let the nurses let do their job (my mother too was a nurse (but not there)) and almost never rang the bell. I should say, that to this time, I couldn't leave my bed. But my "roommate" can.
At one day, my "roommate" wasn't in the room, I had to ring the bell, because I had to go to the bathroom. I had to wait and I rang the bell more often.
I couldn't hold it any longer and urinated in my bed. At this time my parents came in to visit me. My mother quickly realized, what had happened, and went to the nurses to ask, where (I don't remember) was. Now a lot of the nurses came to me, helped me, and apologized. They told us, they thought, that my "roommate" rang his bell.

I'm always shocked at the number of stories where customers grab people and assault them. I'm fairly short but thick and strong from years of powerlifting and martial arts. Also, though I tend to be very calm, my friends and wife say I give off an aura of barely-leashed violence. That's probably true. No sob story, but I was heavily abused as a child. I'm also in my 40's and my tolerance for BS has long since ran out. Ever wonder why some old people are so grouchy? They've just hit their limit. Or they're jerks. Point is, things like this never happen to me. My wife has said that, while I'm handsome, I also look a bit like a thug. That helps when a-holes are around, but I also get pulled for "random extra verification" or whatever at airports. For every. single. boarding.

Retired doctor here. None of us like to not be in control of our lives, and illness involves not being in control. Now, for some people, that's not just annoying, it's terrifying, and they respond to that fear by desperately trying to re establish some sense of control. That's why some people in hospital are really nasty. They're terrified of things the rest of us don't think about. That's also why, during the pandemic, people were put screaming at strangers for wearing a mask. People with masks were a reminder that there was something going on in their lives that they couldn't control and that made them feel like cornered animals. I think that's sad, and a touch pathetic. It's also not uncommon.

After spending months in the hospital I learned one truth. Doctors are like butterflies nice to look at but NEVER upset the nurse who controls your life. These angels work very hard for way too many hours. They can also make your life uncomfortable. Not a good idea. They can go home you can't. I would send my group flowers just to let them know I appreciate them.

In the first story with the jerk in the hospital; many folks wonder why people act that way. Believe it or not it is usually out of fear. They are in an environment they don't understand and are powerless to help a loved one. So they become jerks in order to feel some control. It helps if nursing takes some time to educate and reassure family members. Not all folks stop being jerks but most do. Unfortunately, there is, and has been for a long time now, a nursing shortage so a lot of family teaching just doesn't occur.

I notice that when a Karen/Chad grabs someone, we usually don't see the stories of self-defense- or when we do, it is described as an involuntary response due to an emotional disability. Grabbing you is more than enough reason to deliberately disable them with as much force as you can muster. I understand that when you defend yourself you have to be aware of assault charges against you, and lawsuits, so maybe that's why.

When it comes to Karens in hospitals, it's not always caused by self entitlement issues, it's because of very bad care and or past experience. For instance a hospital 8 years back I was sent to check out on several complaints. When I got to the floor in question, I was shocked. Almost every room had a page going off and no visible staff on the floor except one woman who I recorded on a pc playing a facebook game. She ignored ne and I started checking rooms. Found out no one had gotten lunch hence the pages going off to machines beeping due to IV fluids being long gone and seeing some not checked in over 3 hours. I contacted my supervisor who immediately contacted the pd and I was sent to find anyone from admin. All were on vacation. I left and in 2 days it was on the news about a patient found dead in room and a huge investigation that led to several attests and a huge change. I was sent a few times to follow up and have not seen the place ever like my first visit.

So i showed up at her work and this guy was being the worlds biggest ass when i got there. I go " Sir may i ask you something what do you do?" Turns out He owns a boat dealership in another town. So i go " Sir if you had a customer come in and start demanding things and gets rude to you and starts lying to other people what would you do.?" Him " Well his repairs go to the bottom of the pile where a simple 1 days job takes a week waiting for parts or i simply tell him to... " it was like a light bulb went off.. " i go yeah yelling, demanding and being rude to staff here could result in the same thing, your means start tasting really nasty, takes them for ever to come shut off alarms or respond to the call button. " Wife said after that little chat he knocked things of was a little demanding at times but not like he was. Mind you they would of never let him be in pain if he was in it and if thing critical happen they would deal with it.

Lose the stupid earpods, get your face out of your f*ing smart phone, and PAY ATTENTION to your surroundings, unless you WANT to be a victim. I’m married to a battle scarred ex-cop and she has taught me a lot about situational awareness and reading people.
