"You missed Clay!!"
I missed cozy cottage
I’m 22 this year. I remember watching this for the very first time as a 12 year old, clueless about life. The only thing i wanted to do was turn on my dad’s laptop and boot up the cracked version of minecraft, load in singleplayer and just have fun. Little did i know, i was making one of the fondest memories that i now will cherish for the rest of my life.

Me too ❤😭😭

Back when I couldn't afford Minecraft or a good computer, watching these videos were my style of playing the game. Memories.
I still can't, but I fondly remember watching these :)

Want to download Minecraft for free
I loved watching these videos while my parents got a divorce .... goods times
It comforts me seeing everyone else coming back to these old vids because of childhood memories
same so true
True, i litterally watched these episodes as i played, i built the exact same things he did
I used to watch his videos years ago.
same
It also "comforts" me knowing that all you people have been playing this game for years, and I'm just starting out right now, in 2020. Oh well.....
Well, it’s been 10 years. Time flies, doesn’t it? 10 years ago, I didn’t even know what Minecraft was. Then one day, I found this series, Survive and Thrive” by pure accident. I had no way of playing Minecraft, but that didn’t matter. I watched every episode, learned every tidbit, every little bit of information you gave us, and absorbed it like a sponge, until the day I was finally able to play it for myself. Then, one day, I could. It was amazing. I played Minecraft for days on end, anxiously waiting until I got home from school to open my mom’s laptop and play away. Back then, things didn’t matter as much as they do now. Things were easier, and I wish I could go back. But times change, and we have to change with it. I speak on behalf of most of us in saying, thank you Paul. To a lot of us, you made a difference, and for some of us, more than you could ever know. Thank you Paul, for a wonderful childhood, and an introduction to an amazing game. Here’s to 10 more years. Cheers 🍻
i’m legit crying over this message because this is exactly what i would have written in a comment to him. it’s been 9 and a half years for me & i still find myself coming back to this series he made just to recreate those memories of watching them as a kid while hearing the minecraft music play on my ps4 in the background gaining more & more inspiration & motivation to not just play around in creative, but create survival worlds & survive in them the way he did, as well as thrive.
I remember me and my brother would always watch these videos, and we would always wait for them to come out :)
100% correct assessment. We had the same experience; I used to fight my siblings getting home from school for minecraft time on the one computer 5 of us shared :3
Very well said
Preach brother, preach
2018... I cant express how nostalgic this makes me. especially seeing how much the community has moved on from the game :[

Dude I Agree
Prothom Playz makes me sad
Hazues The nostalgia has hit me so hard
The comments have moved from "Hey this is a great series, I think I'll watch!" to "Dang, I'm sad to see the series end but I guess I'll come back to watch again!" to "watching in 2014... 15... 16... 17..." to "The nostalgia of this video alone brings tears to my eyes."
Thanks for the company all those years ago, Paul. I'll always remember my time with you.
he should make a 1.16/17 version of this since the game is so different
It can’t just be me that comes back for nostalgia every like 8-9 months
It’s not just you

10 years ago... Paul I don't know if you'll ever read this comment, but just know that you made my and so many other people's childhoods. Watching this video takes me to a time in my life that I forgot existed, where I had no cares in the world except getting home from school and waking up early on weekends to play Minecraft and watch your videos. This game and your videos gave me the happiest childhood that I could have asked for. I wish that I appreciated that more back then, because now life is just work. But I'm still grateful that it happened. Wishing you the best Paul.
So true.
Same I just came back to this video only to realize a bunch of other people did the same and we’re all around the same age I’m currently 21

I still remember vividly the night of watching this video for the first time being introduced to mine craft 9 years ago. That night I was young and couldn't afford minecraft right away so I used my couch cushions, chairs, and pillows to make a "Hidey Hole" in real life, and slept in it that night imagining myself playing minecraft. Very soon after I bought and played minecraft my father passed away. Your videos and minecraft got me through those hard times. Thank you so much for the great night, the therapy, and nostalgia paulsoares, we salute you. (I am tearing up as I am writing this btw which is not an easy thing to make me do.)

2 years ago, my friends were talking about Minecraft, and how fun of a game it was. I was curious, so I went on RUclips to find out what it was really all about. "Look at all the videos!" I thought to myself. But, I'm new and I want to know how to play. So I come across Minecraft Tutorials, Paulsoaresjr. I clicked it and watched the video. "You know what, that video wasn't that bad. Let's watch another," I thought to myself. 10 videos go by, and I just couldn't stop watching. Video after video I got more interested, and soon to get how to succeed in the game. Then, I get the game in 2.1 update (I think, I'm not to sure though), and I'm thinking to myself, "just do what Paul did." And I did. I followed his ways, and got better and better at it. Looking at myself now, I am experienced, talented, and very profound at this game. I play hardcore on hard mode, and I'm not too shabby either. Now I look back at Paul's channel and check this old playlist. "I couldn't have gotten to know how to play this game without you Paul. You've done a great job, and you're doing so much better."
Thank you so much Paul for giving the best Minecraft Tutorial on RUclips. You deserve an award for this. You've taught thousands, and maybe even millions by now how to play, and you're still teaching them more. Thumbs this if you love Paul and his awesome videos and absolutely this tutorial!
11 years dude. man, Paul, you carried my childhood, love you man.
This series is a classic. I remember being an eight year old kid discovering Minecraft for the first time by watching this video. I played a lot of video games, even then, and this video series instantly had me hooked. I remember thinking that Minecraft was such a cool game, and you could do whatever you wanted. The survival seemed like endless fun. At the time, there was only about 5 videos out in the series, but i was always anxiously waiting for the next video. Not only did the videos provide good knowledge, but they were just entertaining to watch you progress. I also heard about the Minecraft Daylight Owl series from my 4th grade friend, and i started endlessly watching that series too! I remembered always asking if i can buy minecraft, because i wanted to have the same experience you did in your survival world. My dad surprised me with the xbox 360 minecraft just a few days after it came out. I knew it wasnt as expansive as the PC minecraft was, but it was still some of the most fun i have ever had with my dad and brother. I soon after got minecraft for PC, and i have spent countless hours on that. I still get out xbox 360 minecraft and play it with my dad and brother for old time sake. Me and my 5 friends are currently doing a survival world on PC, and it has reminded us how fun minecraft can be.
Thanks for introducing me to one of my favorite games of all time!
This story represents my life, I played fortnite for a while since season 3 but quit because Minecraft is just so more entertaining! This series brings me nastalgia, I was 7 when I watched this! I still can’t believe it really. It’s kinda sad tbh. I have Minecraft on ps4 and PC, I played ps4 since it came out, but pc Minecraft I have SOOO much stuff on one vanilla survival world.
Discovering minecraft will and always will be my top most memorable things i do in my childhood, i remember playing this game after playing outside and after finishing homework, but since i grew and grew and grew i became more distant to this game not because it's boring but because other games with much cooler features are being released and with that 2015 is my last year playing this game, cause just like life you'll have to learn that not everything last the way it is now because new generations will take over and replace the fame and glory of an old timer, so with that i've moved on and played another game, i still keep the game launcher in my pc but i never even ever mentioned it anymore to the point i've forgotten that the game is still on my pc, but 2019 came along and with, the new age of minecraft arise people are flooding Minecraft with love and joy again (including me) remembering the nostalgic feeling of their childhood is still live on.....
See this is why i love Minecraft because you can always go back to it and it will never be a boring video game even though the objective is simple you mine and you craft that's. It

The funny thing is, I remember watching and following along with this, and everything you teach us how to do here hasn't changed since the game was released in retail. Of course, the game has been updated, but I could link one of my friends to this tutorial and they'd probably still be able to follow it successfully. There still is a difference though, you know how to play, you know the basics, singleplayer is not really epic anymore and survival is a piece of cake. ;(

I got bullied really badly in elementary school and your videos were a savior for me back then. Thank you so much 💛 it has me in tears that this was 8 years ago.. where has time gone
Heya, Paul. It's December 1st, 2021, where I am, which means this video is now 10 years old. I'm sure you're about to receive an influx of comments like mine, so I'll keep it short and sweet- this video means so much to me. It is a symbol of a childhood- one now long passed, yes, but one remembered fondly in no small part because of all you've done here and in your other series like Hoodie and Tale of Kingdoms and Man vs Minecraft and Minecraft family. I'll admit I don't often watch your videos these days- tastes change quite a bit in ten years, I guess- but I'll keep coming back here, forever and always. Thank you for getting me into this wonderful game via this video, and thanks for helping to make me the man I am today. Here's to another 10 years of Soarviving.
I remember watching this when I was nine. Binge watched the whole series and watching his videos were actually better than playing the game.

Woah really? Well yeah i could relate. After discovering Herobrine I've never felt at ease in minecraft ever again. Hahaha!
+PatrickL Me either.
+PatrickL me too and my first dead was shocking...
I remember My first ever world... I had been watching PSJ for awhile and was so exited to start up my very own survival world! So I booted it up expecting to find plenty of trees to punch, plenty of coal to mine, and plenty of stone to make my own hideyhole. Instead I spawned in a mushroom biome! I was so confused I didn't even know they existed! I ran around looking for any thing remotely similar to what Paul spawned until I died of starvation. I didn't create another survival world for a couple of weeks haha
After 7 years im back here, and also playing Minecraft again. I was 12 at the time, didn't know crap, so i found this channel, and played along. Being back here is a giant step into memory lane, especially the "Hidey hole" (which I still use today). This very video has a special place in my heart, and always will. I honestly gotta thank you for teaching me how to play Minecraft the proper way.
I know you've heard this before, but you were a huge part of my childhood! I started watching you when I was nine. My brother got tired of me constantly asking for help in Minecraft, and he turned me over to this video. This series along with Stampy and MC Spotlight were what got me obsessed back in the day. Now I'm burnt out on Minecraft, despite not playing for months. I've come back to your channel for inspiration. So that I can play Minecraft the way I did almost ten years ago. Thank you so much for teaching me how to play one of my favorite video games!
