Thank you for sharing your process with us. I've been trying some of your methods and the results are amazing. The works that have come from that are nothing I could have imagined, even as they are being created. As you say, intuition takes over and the painting will speak to you as to what it needs. I love your impressionistic florals, they're just beautiful !!
Wow, thank you. I am so glad you have found my videos helpful in your own art practice. That sounds really exciting, actually! I love breakthrough moments, and finding the confidence to let intuition be the guide. Thanks so much, and happy painting!
The impressionistic painters have always inspired me. You are an inspiration to me. Your techniques, colors, style amaze me. Your videos are mesmerizing. The problem is me. I lack the confidence to master this style. It’s difficult for me to achieve loosening up and letting the composition flow. In this new year my goal is to keep painting. With practice it will come. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
I believe that if you dedicate yourself to painting often and allow yourself to experiment and enjoy the process, you will begin to let go a bit and find your groove. I recommended a course of mine to someone else in the comment section, and I am going to recommend it to you as well. I have had many students find the fun in creating and working through roadblocks with my course "Loosen Up and Find Joy in Your Art". Here is the link in case you feel it would help: kathleenrietzartist.thinkific.com/courses/loosen-up-and-find-joy-in-your-art
I am inspired by your beautiful paintings so I have purchased some canvases, acrylic paints, a catalyst wedge and some gloves ready to immerse myself into being free and expressive. 🙏💜
Beautiful work! Love it! I'm inspired by Monet too, but also more recent artist, YOU being one of them! I grew up watching William Alexander and Bob Ross on PBS. I enjoyed Thomas Kinkade. More recent era I am inspired by Paul Stanley (Shows his work with Wentworth Galleries), and Lindsay Weirwich (The Frugal Crafter here on RUclips). I probably will find more inspirational artists as time goes by. I started Acrylic Painting in October 2024. Here it is January 2025 and already I submitted 4 pieces for donation to a local art center and waiting to hear back when they've processed it so I can post it online to show everyone what I painted. I'm excited. My first time! :) I did finish a home study course with Art Instruction Schools in the mid 80s. And I always liked to draw and color even as a kid. Painting I avoided at first because it's messy. But when I saw Paul Stanley in painted jeans and shoes, I decided to embrace the mess. :) Then I saw your videos and how you do things and I tried some of it, and am even more inspired! I try not to copy. I try to do my own thing. We all need inspiration. And I thank God for artists such as yourself who are willing to show us how it's done and give us encouragement. BIG THANK YOU! I'm enjoying making art too!
I’m so terrible at letting my “intuition guide me”. I feel like I love the look of Impressionism and/or abstract but 1) my paintings always come out darker than I want, 2) I feel like everything I do looks terrible so end up tossing it. 😢. How do I let go and loosen up? 🥺 your work is beautiful! I’ve actually been compiling the supplies you recommend in your videos.
I'm sorry to hear you are struggling. Painting should be ask enjoyable experience, but I think we all go through times when it all just feels frustrating and we are not getting the results we want. I have a couple of responses: First, I believe intuition is something that is developed, and only time and lots of practice can make that happen. It comes from the confidence of knowing that the colors you are using work together and the composition is strong, and that the outcome will be good. It truly takes time. Second, if your paintings are all too dark, I suggest trying to establish your darkest and lightest values first before your middle values. Lastly, so many artists struggle with painting loosely and trying to control their paintings too much. I think that learning to enjoy the process instead of forcing the outcome can help a lot. I created an online art course called "Loosen Up and Find Joy in Your Art" because I saw so many students get frustrated and through out paintings that truly could have been saved. It is my most popular course, and has a lot of tips to help you find the joy in creating. I'll give you the kink to check out. But whether you take the course or not, I hope that something I have said is helpful for you! Thanks for your comment. kathleenrietzartist.thinkific.com/courses/loosen-up-and-find-joy-in-your-art

Wast a great result from dancing fingers. Bravo!!! Thank you.
I'm so happy you enjoyed the process. I do feel like I am doing a little finger dance on my canvas when I am creating so loosely. 🙂
