I'm a fervent admirer of Joseph, but the religious music of Michael is certainly as beautiful as that of his brother. Thank you for al this splendid music.
I got to sing the soprano solo in the Gloria when I was in college, and I've been looking for this piece for years, cuz I couldn't remember the name or composer. Finally found it last night in old music concert programs.
Observem a beleza textural, as partes nessa obra em perfeita integração harmônica; temos o quarteto de cordas, solistas vocais e instrumentais, coros e a orquestra enfim. As trompas são uma presença marcante do classicismo.
Micheal Haydn was also extremely gifted, a bit overshadowed by his older brother and he composed most kinds of music, that his out put was quite proliific manysymphonies and concertos for several kinds of instruments, his brother was always there to help him when he got into financial difficultys this bieng when he was once robbed at gun point, his brother joseph stepped in and gave him a gold watch, to help, micheal Haydn did have a drinking problem at times wich was a cause for concern by Mozarts father Leopold, as micheal was a friend of wolfgang Mozart and they often helped one another, in salzburg there is a small museum dedicated to micheal Haydns life and works, he is buried in st peters church in salzburg next to mozarts sister, app they got on well, joseph haydn said once that his brother wrote better masses than he did, quite an accolade, but joseph was one of the nicest by nature of the composers, this mass is so beautiful!!
