I studied Greek and Roman mythology 10 years before I learned about Astrology. This background made it very easy to approach the underlying archetypal concepts in astrology. My first observation of the astrological “system” was the vast under-representation of aspects of the Feminine, Outside of the Moon and Venus, the feminine aspects were always in subordination to the more primary masculine archetypal representations. As a female you become MORE aware of this disparity than when you grow up in a male body with all the subtle rights and privileges granted to males mere because of your gender. In Hellenistic astrology, the qualities of the Feminine as a Divine Being are vastly under-represented, but this is to be expected given that Ancient Greek society held women as second or even third class members of their culture. It is WELL past time that other qualities of the Divine Feminine be given equal standing to the Masculine in Astrology. Steve, I’m not in agreement with your use of the “Dark” Feminine. I think I understand why you chose to use it, but given how much the Aquarian shift is going to help us navigate the future, there are still millions and millions of people and many cultures that still equate “Dark” with negative connotations. Imagine calling the rapacious side of the Jupitarian energy as “DARK”…. The howls from the chorus would be deafening! The “dark” sides of the masculine are just given monikers for what they are ( aggression for Mars, e.g.) and no one blinks. Let’s start affording the facets of the Feminine the same autonomy and begin to anchor those attributes into the lexicon. Other than this one suggestion to re-think “dark” alongside “feminine” I say YES!!!! It’s about fricking time!!!! (Said she with a 12th house Scorpio sun which is conjunct Juno, Pallas Athene and Ceres ) I agree, bring it ON!
I appreciate everything that you wrote. The Dark feminine often refers to what was suppressed in Lilith. The one who in connected with the Earth, deeper intuitive sources, her own body, feelings & creativity. From the dark rich soil the Earth is born. There is a strong connection to the Moon, to what is born from the darkness in an integrated way. The darkness connected with the feminine is about a primordial power that is repressed in many women, including sexuality, creativity, the transformational power of the heart, soul & spirit. Also, the experience & expression of the mind connected to the deeper wisdom within a female body/a divinity rooted in the female body/soul/heart
Thank you, Steve for sharing!! I feel like I wouldn’t want to do away with the old myths, but incorporate and expand their meaning. Being a woman, supposedly the “hero’s journey” never applied to me. But, even at 50, (and still being on planet), I am still on a journey of discovering what I can do… so I still find it inspiring. In a similar vein, I have always heard Venus in Scorpio is in detriment, but why can’t it be a time to embody and exalt the energy/idea of Hecate? All signs, planets, placements have the positive and negative aspects. It feels to me like astrology and it’s “teaching tools” or too universal, and therefore fluid, to be just black or white; yes or no…to borrow a lot of terminology here! :) Always enjoy your musings!
Artemis. Aprodite. Demeter. Hera. Persephone. Athena. All specific archetypes. Of course, the feminine asteroids of Pallas Athene, Ceres, Juno and Vesta are now used by many Astrologers. In the Age of Taurus both Hindu and Shinto (Japan) saw the Sun as female and the Moon as male.
Bravo! Not only in astrology but we see this playing out in real life and the toxic masculine needs healing. Needs to lean into the feminine. Love this message!!
I made a YT video published back in March of this year outlining a feminine chart system. I took it down due to fear. I will reshoot it. Thank u Steve for lighting the martian fire under my root chakra, haha!
As a professor of gender studies, I know the importance of this recognition and discussion. There is major backlash going on with many wanting to uphold/reestablish patriarchal and misogynistic “values.” There is an us vs. them dichotomy that is difficult to dismantle.
I agree that the Feminine is rising but I don’t know about the “dark” part. I see the light that Notre Dame brought back after rising from the ashes! Leaving all the old behind, the renewed Feminine is here to take her place up high and up front. Also, I like the idea of viewing the planets through their energies without attaching gender because we all are a combo of Yin (female) and Yang (male). ☯️
Perhaps when Steve states ‘dark’ he is ultimately referring to the ‘Yang’ side of the female? Esp if in the past most people only ‘see’ women as ‘Yin’. Then it may be time to see/view/embrace both sides (of a previously neglected thought or the imbalanced view ) that women hold both: Yin & Yang.
Yes, you've articulated what was in my mind as I listened to Steve speak. Why does the feminine have to be "dark"? (What does light and dark masculine look like?) But also to name minor planets/asteroids as female deities, while seeming to restore the feminine to cosmology, actually relegates the feminine to second place. I think we need some other terminology for feminine/masculine. Yin/yang is good - at least, in Western culture, those terms don't carry the gendered baggage of feminine/masculine - although I suspect many people aren't familiar enough with which is which for those terms to work as a kind of shorthand (hence your explanation of their associations in brackets).
@ This perspective is truly groundbreaking if humanity can get there. I think masculine has been ascendant because they possess X and Y chromosome (yin and yang) while females only possess X. We’re now being taught exactly how crucial that single X is! We in the US are about to experience life void of feminine energy under a man who was born on a void AND eclipsed moon. The agony of birthing something new has arrived! 😓
@@AverillBuchanan When I heard Steve say the Dark Feminine, I tool pause at 1st; than I thought about those Black Madona's ,all over Europe & many believe that the early archetypes derived from ancient Egypt as Isis & Horus. The life cycle of humans has been mostly represented by the development of the youth going out into the world and becoming a man, followed by his collected wisdom as an elder in the community. The archetype in the Tarot going from Fool/Knave to Magician/Knight to Emporer/King. I found Síle na Gig, the old Irish fertility goddess, to be a great counter to this. She represents the full circle of life through birth, death, rebirth by having 3 personas - Maid, Mother and Crone. Old women are often depicted as crabby witches. The Crone represents her lifetimes knowledge and the collected knowledge women have passed to eachother through every generation. Her time has come. We need both male and female reflecting the development of both their positive and negative sides to have a clear view of all.
Because we need compassion, nurturing, empathy, love! We are all in dire need of the feminine to rise above the controlling leadership and strong hold of the masculine! Amen, AMEN! 💕🙏🕊🌍 🌎 🌍 🕊🙏💕

BTW anyone wanting to look up the asteroids Pallas is usually built in but is 2, and Athene (note the spelling ends in E not A) is 881 (if you haven’t noticed there are 2 different ones, Greek and Roman- its fun to look and see how your readings may work with one and not the other. Follow your own myth❤)

Sorry for being that annoying greek know-it-all, but Apollo was the twin of Artemis/Diana for the Roman pantheon enthusiasts, not Athena. They can be mixed up with them being both virgin goddesses that bear arms. However, Artemis was a more nature oriented goddess, with a dark and dangerous side and one gets the feeling that the Ancient Greeks were a bit wary of her. Athena was a more civilized goddess, a goddess who rarely expressed her darker side and the Ancient Greeks were quite fond of her.
I believe, and I have learned that the 26,000 cycle is divided in four 6,500 year cycles of Patriarchal and Matriarchal 6500 year cycles. And currently we are moving back into the Matriarchal cycle. Am I correct?
The 26,000 year cycle is called the Precession of the Equinox - but then every 13,000 yrs we go from masculine to feminine (or that’s what I read). So we aren’t just now discovery of the dark feminine but rather its her return/rebirth/resurrection. We are all “children” of the Divine Mother…mother and guardian of the spiritual root of the human species. Womankind came first then created the human male from within herself. In essence, the male always evolves from the female. All forms of life, when originally conceived, are in fact female. Whitemalegod was created by man. But regardless we have both masculine and feminine within us so age of Aquarius is bringing both into union and balance.
Can you connect this to the ending of the age of Pisces, or is the general public suffering adverse reactions to the last few decades of excitement about this, so much so, that you must be sensitive to them?
Isnt masculine and feminine a part of everything? To me every energy is masculine and feminine and the balance simply shifts when needed. I think of Jupiter/Zeus as male because of mythology but Zeus turning himself into a cow is feminine. Perhaps all we need to do is reframe our own perceptions and when society catches up to the truth is its own business. Be an example for others in your day to day life. You cant change everyone nor are any of us here to do that. But we touch one person here and there and do our jobs and the balance can find itself in everything because it is there. We just either dont see it or its being repressed and we may not be the one that can free that one. Just my perspective❤
It isnt about gender. I have masculine and feminine qualities. Every body has its place and timing in naming. The female has never been gone. To get over it...,stop talking about it and move on. Most people have been talking about this for decades already. Woke is broke........so past this type of talk.
I’m sorry that talking about the oppression of women is so painful for you Jon. I hope that you can recover from this emotional pain very quickly because it’s awful that you have experienced this tyranny
Yeah total boomer take. As above so below. Astrology reflects earth and vise versa. The Physical hierarchy is also reflected in the spiritual. Man / Woman / children / animals / nature is the way it all works and as it should be. The point of astrology in to help align one self with the universe. To upset that order creates chaos which the universe deplores. Why are so many male astrologer feminists? Because women are the majority of their clients. There's a reason astroids are considered feminine....and its not because they bring harmony and peace
@@sbren777please enlighten us. Other than attempting to shame Jon for your gross sexism, tell us what are you doing to fight this oppression of women across the globe.
It sounds like you've overcome certain types of conditioning common in the west, which is admirable, and likely means this video isn't directed at you, but the types of dinosaurs Steve is speaking to. The mention of "woke" is interesting, based on your evolved condition. Misogyny is alive in many, especially those who regularly speak on "wokeness", and characterize any attempt at equality as such, rather than helping end the problems that trigger the need for such attempts. Problems that show themselves frequently, in one form or another. I'm glad that moving on has helped you, but closing one's eyes doesn't end the problems for those affected by it most.
Please how ?
