Wind an elastic band right behind and against the locking nut. That keeps it from backing off and acts as a foul proof hook keeper when moving from place to place. Works great.
Nice set up! Thanks for uploading a video - I've been eying a couple of the Maxcatch rods/reels and this is a helpful video. I've been living in Rapid City since 2014 and have been fly fishing for a little over a year now. We have some amazing spots in The Hills and even great spots in town! We have it lucky.
Wow this video is from 4 years ago already. I just ordered the same rod. After watching some utube reviews. I ordered the greenish one. Can't wait to fish this glass rod. I have some other Maxcatch rods also. The smallest ones have the same reel holders. And they are too long for a small reel foot. So i use a bigger diameter reel with a longer reel foot.
@@baileymoto it will take a “mid size “ Carp . So for panfish it will perfect. It’s not like the old Glass rods. It’s much faster than like a Sage LL I had for my first expensive fly rod . Casting and drilling is also fun with this glass rod
@@Iheartmyson I ended up ordering it, got it in yesterday (7ft 3wt). Only had a 4wt reel/line to throw on it while I wait for the new stuff. Practiced a bit in the yard, think I’m going to really like it.
@@baileymoto Nice. It’s always searching for the right line tho. I have the maxcatch gold and the singe Spey . But also a Rio in #3 . The single Spey casts further. The others are for a bit more finesse. Have fun with it
@@Iheartmyson Good stuff. I ended up ordering the maxcatch perception line. Was also considering their gold and Spey line. Will probably compare to spey in the future, as I’ll likely be doing a lot of roll casting with this particular setup.
that looks a beautiful little stream, is the rod still holding up okay? I am tempted as I'm looking to have a try of fibreglass, but a wee bit skeptical of durability due to the low price
We've got three of them in the family and we really love these rods! 🎉
I like glass fishing, and I like bright yellow which seems fair to give fishies that heads-up. Everything, I mean everything, comes loose over time. 👍

Just got the ultra glass this year 3weight love it. Now have the 5weight as well.👍
I don't know what I'm doing much and I'm about 3 hours from the Black Hills. I'm gonna come watch you fish !!
Great video! I am looking at buying this rod already!
Rubber O-ring on the reel seat will soon cure the locking nut coming loose.

How are you liking it? Considering this or the ultra lite for panfish, maybe small trout. Small water.

Number one, where is this stream ???!! looks awesome. Second Is the rod super thick/ heavy? looks a lot beefier than other 3wts.
This is located in South Dakota. The rod is thick, but seems pretty light. I really enjoy it!
Still liking this rod?
Just subbed been looking at the rod might have to get it now
Thanks, its a solid little setup. I dig it!
Ty the Fly guy 👍🏼

The rod is holding up FANTASTIC! I highly suggest their 3wt ultraglass rod. I've been using it more than my other setups!
can you use leeches fly on these?
Which camera do you use for recording videos?
Hi! I used a little Nikon J1, and a gopro hero 3.
Hello bro i take the same rod , what is the best line for this 3wt? 7ft
I like mpx lines but u might like something like the amplitude trout, do some research on both but the mpx is a heavier half size heavy line
