The explanation of the symbol of the tongues divided by fire that in Christ now the world made of people who speak different languages can now be united. God’s message of salvation is for all and when the spirit of God is allowing men to speak in different languages we can see that the message will spread throughout the world🙌🏼

“And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬
This is my God shot for today, as to me it highlights not only God‘s provision for his children, but reminds me that each of us have been given unique abilities from God to fulfill his plan. I pray today that we can all utilize our abilities to not only fulfill God‘s plan, but also find purpose in ourselves and remain faithful in Christ. God bless all of you today.✝️

Aloha, praise the Lord and good morning BR family. I love as Jesus ascends to Heaven and assembled together with the apostles and commanded them not depart from Jerusalem, wait for the promise of his Father, that heard of me. John baptized first with water, but this time he will be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah and praise God because he is where the JOY is!!!❤

My Godshot was in the healing of the lame man AND the aftermath where Peter made sure God got the glory. Every true blessing in our lives is for our good and His glory! If He answers our prayers with a yes, or blesses us in any way, and we keep it to ourselves, the blessing is not complete. We must tell others about His goodness and faithfulness so that He gets the glory! He IS where the joy is🙏

At the beginning of Acts we see God’s promised Holy Spirit come down as wind and fire filling the disciples. When addressing the crowd after they are sorrowful for what was done to Jesus they are told to repent and be baptized. Thinking back to how God filled the temple and even the tabernacle, I wanted to parallel the journey Israel took from Egypt, crossing the water of both the Red Sea and the Jordan into the promised land, baptism, with God dwelling among them, the Holy Spirit in us. However, the Israelites did not get wet in either the Red Sea or the Jordan. In Joshua chapter three God told Joshua to choose twelve, one from each tribe to go first with the ark to the river. Then God held back the waters as they crossed. It was not yet the right time and yet these things hint, foreshadow, what was yet to come.

God is a God of His word, and Peter hid God’s word in his heart (Ps 119:11) so that at the right time, he shows Who Jesus is by relying on God’s word. In living out the Gospel with our non believing friends, we can rely on what we have learned in His word and the Holy Spirit will enable their understanding.

Thank you for this. It is a great reminder that we can trust the Holy Spirit will enable their understanding and our role is to live out the Gospel in our lives as an example to others. I want them to believe, and waiting for their change of heart is challenging and tests my patience. But I know that God's timing is perfect, and He has a plan. He knows what is best, and I cannot rush His perfect timing.

Praise God for his power and wisdom! The foreign visitors were able to hear about the mighty works of God in their heart language- the one they grew up speaking! That is the impetus for Bible translation. People shouldn't have to study a foreign language just to know who their creator is, and that he loves them and has a plan for their lives! Here God once again makes his love for the nations clear, skipping the approximately 40 years it takes to translate the Bible into a new language, and revealing himself to them instantaneously and miraculously by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is no wonder that 3000 people were saved that day!

    The Holy Spirit is coming!
Indoor tornado, fire holograms, language convention! The next phase has begun.
Peter preaches repentance and baptizing over 3000 people.
Peter has been studying God’s word.
It’s all in his sermon. Peter knows you cannot feed the sheep with food you do not have.
God has the best ideas and plans for us.
Hardly ever look like what we think they will. But because God knows past present and future He knows what is best. It’s so good knowing we can trust Him completely.

"Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off-for all whom the Lord our God will call.”'
This is a promise we get to receive and I am so grateful. I am so blessed and thankful God called me and allowed my heart to be soft enough to hear and to receive. I see how special it is.
I am flawed and need forgiveness. Lord, help me remember to repent, to feel the deep sorrow of my sins. Help my heart long for change to help my body and actions to reflect my repentance and Your forgiveness. Lord, we are flawed.
Help us as Christians remember our flaws and be more humble. Help remind us to serve others, especially those who believe our God is not the One True God. Help us all be better examples to everyone around us. God, may Your Will be Done. Thank you for Your care and Love. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Just a thought; 3000 people saved, 125 people received the holy spirit, each of the 125 people baptize 25 persons equals 3,000. Very doable. God is in the details. He knew before hand how many were going to be saved, so he equipped the right amount of people for the task. Our God is Awesome ❤️

I felt excited this morning knowing we were stepping into Acts, but also a tinge of sadness about Jesus having left and no longer hearing direct words from His mouth.
So much in these chapters of Acts. The Holy Spirit had come and the apostles were baptized with Him as Jesus promised (Acts 1:5) and they received power when He came on them as Jesus said would happen (Acts 1:8). Acts 2:4, "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."

When the disciples asked about whether Jesus was now going to set up His Kingdom, He didn’t tell them no not ever, He basically said not right now. He said, “it is not for you to know the times or the epics which the Father has prepared.” The old testament thoroughly predicts a coming kingdom that will be earthly. I do not think the scripture portrays the kingdom as entirely spiritually realized. Just a thought.💭

  • @Foodie.Mommie

    Beautiful!
Not only did the tongues spoken in Acts 2 seem like a miraculous reversal of the confusion brought about by God’s judgment in Babel, but this miraculous sign was also pointing to how through Jesus, the gospel and salvation would come/was coming to all nations of the world and not just the Jews - (Acts 1:8).
I have a question though. Acts 2:4 states:
“4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit AND BEGAN TO SPEAK IN OTHER TONGUES as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
Why does TLC think the disciples were all speaking Aramaic? Verse 4 clearly states the disciples were speaking IN other languages (which they crowd also heard in their native tongues (vv8-11)).
    Did I miss something?

  • @pattimiller2357
    @pattimiller2357 Год назад +12

I have to disagree on one point... Acts 2:4 speaks specifically that the believers "spoke in other languages as the Spirit enabled them." They actually spoke the languages that the people heard even though they may not have understood what they said.
Food for thought... James spoke about how unruly the tongue is. Doesn't it make sense that we allow the Spirit to control it?

The Lord, who is power, gives us power to live and walk through this earth to glorify Him.
Before He ascends to heaven, Jesus tells His disciples‭in Acts‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭(ESV‬), "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
When we receive Jesus Christ as Savior, we are given the promise of God's spirit that will live inside of us, which empowers us to live for Him.
We must repent (turn away) from our sins, and when we do, we will be given refreshment in our souls (3: 19-20).
Thank you TLC, for the reminder of the importance of knowing God's word. We must read it, study it, meditate on it, and treasure it in our hearts. "I have hidden Your word in my heart, that I might not sin against You" (Psalm 119: 11).

It’s not supposed to be a true statement, it’s just supposed to be a joke, as they are not really equivalent 3/5 of a mile or 8 football fields from the passages. They can however be a size of a person because the company puts many coupons on it, making the CVS stores receipts longer than any other store. 😆
