I was watching a Pink Floyd cover band today called Australian Pink Floyd just hours ago and I ain’t never heard this song until I heard it live. I was high from weed and this came on and it was FUCKING Awesome! They played THIS music video. I had an awesome time watching the band live. Quite the experience ✨✨✨💖💖🌈
As a teen I used to do claymation and hand drawn animations with a video camera I found at a second hand store and bought audio equipment i mainly was into claymation...yes this animation is extremely complex... it took me 4 hours for 2 seconds of film when I did a claymation of an ape escaping the zoo (wasn't good lol)... more movement more frames more art more time! I might start it back up been looking for a hobby
Hey guys I tripped.on this video so much earlier days wow still love pink Floyd am 53 loved pink Floyd when I was 8 78. ! Listening to darkside ! On the run wow! Been non stop guys
Not an official video commissioned by EMI, this was an animation made for the BBC's The Old Grey Whistle Test. In the early years of the programme animation students submitted works using album tracks from artists featured in the programme.
Yes, 1972. Until recently, I thought the video was made to show on screens at concerts at least fifteen years later. I'm the 'wrong' age to remember my favourite era of music, yet pretty much middle aged now!
This was broadcast in 1972 on BBC2's The Old Grey Whistle Test. The video and song were put together by the shows production team, it wasn't a PF project or music video.
Loved seeing this animation on the screen at the back of the stage at the uk pink Floyd experience last night. It was like watching the real Floyd. Out of this would!
FUCK. WOW. I am running out of descriptive words to describe this EPIC group of musicians. Magicians even. I listen to PINK FLOYD every single day of my life and have been for 25 years. To be brutally honest, I discovered PF whilst serving a couple of years in one of Australias HM Prisons, in Victoria, to be exact. The prison time itself was completely unremarkable, and the ONLY reason I have mentioned it is because it was the point in time that PINK FLOYD entered my life. If not for the fact that I landed myself in a court room and in turn, in a cell, all thru my own failure to see the self destructive path I was travelling, I may never have discovered one of the most awe inspiring, emotionally raw, beautiful, fucking awesome, soulful, musical experiences that coaxes tears from my eyes at least weekly, if not more, in a way that moves me unlike ANYTHING ELSE that I have heard, EVER. PF are not just listened to, the true Floyd lovers experience PINK FLOYD. I have never become bored of it, and for me, NO OTHER MUSIC COMES ANYWHERE NEAR AND NEVER WILL..
I first heard this around 1975. . For years i thought it said "One of these days, I'm going to dance with the little creatures". I didn't realize until a decade later that it was "One of these days, I'm going to cut you into little pieces". I think I like my version better. . Lol
there is another story behind thisA film, French Windows, was made by Ian Emes,[3][9] set to the piece and featuring people and gibbons dancing against various backgrounds. After being seen on television by the band, it was back-projected by Pink Floyd during live performances[3] and Emes was commissioned to make further films for the band. It has since been released as an "extra" on the band's Pulse DVD,[3] and is to be included in the 27-disc The Early Years 1965-1972 box set.[10]AND I KNOW SOMETHING I WONT POST HERE
"One of These Days" is the opening track from Pink Floyd's 1971 album Meddle.[2][3] The composition is instrumental except for a spoken line from drummer Nick Mason, "One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces." It features double-tracked bass guitars played by David Gilmour and Roger Waters,[3] with each bass hard panned into one channel of stereo, but one bass sound is quite muted and dull. According to Gilmour, this is because that particular instrument had old strings on it, and the roadie they had sent to get new strings for it wandered off to see his girlfriend instead
Makes the stereo effect work well. Thank you roadie and girlfriend. I hope they're still together nearly 50 years later, albeit a little muted and dull.
Fascination discussion tonight by the university student, Ian Emes, that conceived, storyboarded and produced this jawdropping experimental animation on Old Grey Whistle Test - For One Night Only
Does anyone here recall an alternate, possibly fan-made music video that was in black-and-white that featured a collage of old footage of various surreal imagery including a sandstorm and a fish riding a bicycle? I recall it being on RUclips for a long time and cannot find it anymore.
I went to the movies because I was bored and having no friends I went alone and I saw Rocky when that was still brand new. And then halfway through there was a bomb threat and we sll got moved outside and as long as you had your ticket you could get back in so instead of going back to Rocky which was a dumbass movie I went to see this other flick called fantastic Animation Festival which is where I saw this clip for the first time. It was just a collection of animated stuff to music and it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I just wish I could find that movie again and I looked believe me I've looked.
on my original stereo cassette tape, the left side says "one of these days,i'm gonna chop you into little pieces". at the same time, the right side says,"one of these days,i'm gonna dance with the evil beast". clear as a bell. no if, ands, or buts about it., the right side says,"one of these days,i'm gonna dance with the evil beast"
do you have an old original vinyl or cassette? i swear some had "one of these days,i'm gonna chop you into little pieces". at the same time, the other side says,"one of these days,i'm gonna dance with the evil beast".
i know this might never be answered, but what is this effect called, in 2:43 , it sounds like a very low sirene or something, you literally cant find this in any cover or live versions of this song, not in anyplace anywhere
Play it backwards and it sounds like it says "You've really / recently gone too far Syd, IT'S ENOUGH!" which is merely a funny coincidence, since backmasking is utter bollocks. and the Threating phrase spoken by Nick Mason was believed to be targeted at a Radio DJ, Sir Jimmy Young, of BBC 2. Dave Gilmour called this "The most collaborative effort of anything we ever did."
@@mrinalkundu1521 No he didn't. He entered the animation into a film competition, (in Belgium?) and it won. One if the producers or production staff in OGWT saw the film and decided to match up with the song. It was broadcast in Spring 1973.
It looks like the shadow dancer is Syd Barrett . The first part show when "The" Pink Floyd started they were all happy go lucky with the success with Piper. Then the middle part represents Syds break down. In the latter part the other members of Floyd are dancing clowns enjoying success and Syd spins away into madness. With the two orangutans I have no clue!
Author of this animation - Ian Emes - used to cycle at speed, through an underpass complex, in north Birmingham (England), on his way to school. The sensation(s) of these bike rides is a central inspiration to this work.
The little icon at the bottom is distracting and the rainbow credits across the screen really ruin this incredible clip. I remember it from the Fantastic Animation Festival movie.
Long time a go... The wall was proposed to show in Broadway... And Roger Water he did not agree with that, why? .. He explained... I don't want a group of gays dancing my song's... jejeje..

Definitely one of my favorite tunes by Pink Floyd 🤘🏴☠️
Agree, id say their heaviest sounding tune.
Psichedelico puro...il mio video preferito in assoluto
Saw this at the Laguna animation festival close to 40 years ago. A pioneering piece of animation done the old fashion way. You can tell.
I saw this on 2 " video

This bit of music+animation shows why Pink Floyd were away ahead of their time..Faultless!!!!
Thank you for the memory. Donna bleach blonde thick as frozen grits and that 79 Camaro with the 350 and TTops . Oh what a night.
L'indimenticabile sigla della Domenica sportiva..
My favorite band of all time.. wish I could see the remaining members together one more time....

This is my favorite Pre-Dark Side of The Moon Pink Floyd song. After the line my Nick Mason, the song becomes a total jam.

Hi Julian, you should test klaus schulze's Timewind album, composed of 2 songs, the most hovering after pink floyd (or before) ...
