Wow, I didn't imagine there was such many ways to use the monopod. I'll use this video as a handy guide from now and then. Thanks for all the tricks. I loved the explanation and the results. Blessings to the family.
I watched this a few months back and learned a number of things. I bought a monopod and came back to watch the video again. The impact of your sample movie at the end is even more impressive this close to Christmas! :)
Dude, I think you just saved me a lot of money and time. These look great, I am a beginner filmmaker and did not know about the monopods at all, looks like a great alternative to some much more expensive gear. Thank you!
I just bought the iFootage Cobra 3 and this video has turned into a one stop shop for me as it showcases such a diverse range of monopod shots. Great video!
Just came across your video which is so inspiring as is the very nice footage you pulled together into such a lovely family video - it both ispires me and melts my heart!
Some new ones there for me. Especially liked the shoulder one. So simple yet so versatile if adding lunge, squat, kneel, twist with it. Thank you I'll be trying that out today!
This is super great! I have a Gimbal Crane and it was pretty expensive and I still can't figure it out. It's always hard to balance the camera and gets a little frustrating. I stopped using it, maybe I will consider something like the Monopod, similar to the Gimbal but so much more control. I Will be watching this video over and over, these are great tips and I'm going to ditch the Gimbal. Thanks for all the great videos you do, you are a true inspiration and by far my favorite tech/film related channel. Thanks again for the channel review. Merry Christmas to you and your family, 2022 is going to be a great year!
Terrific ideas on how to use a simple piece of equipment! Most other RUclipsrs here only suggest using a monopod if you have a big long length and need it steadied due to weight. Thanks for your out of the box thinking and getting your whole family together to demonstrate your creativity! Definitely subscribing my friend!
Great video!! Thanks for sharing, I’m wondering if I need to close any stabilizer no matter the lens and the DSLR, then do stabilizer in post-production?
Great tips, thanks. Needed the info re using my monopod as a gimbal. Props to mum for double jobbing as lighting tech while also carrying the little one!
Amazing technical creativity... ❤ 2 people requested b roll and I've been into photography more till now... These tips will help me learn the art! Thank you for the vision
@@CamberFilmSchool appreciate that! Now I just gotta find how to record more than 30 seconds on my cam before it automatically stops... ( Researching now)
@@CamberFilmSchool lolz I JUST watched a video about it! Lol thank you! For today it looks like I'll be doing "live" photos😂 and making a hell of alotta cuts like a music video...
Enjoyed the video! Thanks for sharing. I find myself grabbing my iFootage video monopod far more than a gimbal. Due to the time/effort to mount a camera on a gimbal, there is a tendency to just keep the camera on the gimbal for everything even if not needed. The video monopod is instantly ready and the camera can come off/on as needed. The one video monopod movement I use quite a bit is a "reveal" shot, having the camera move past a foreground object to reveal the subject. The monopod movement is basically the same as your dolly shot, except I turn the camera plate 90º so the camera is positioned to the L or R (sideways) on the fluid head. Start movement with the camera low to floor and raise the camera up while tilting the video head in order to keep the camera's viewfinder parallel to the floor throughout the motion (side-to-side motion not back-to-front). Hope I explained that clearly. 🙂 Easier to do than to explain in words.
I've been trying to get into gimbals but I'm just not feeling them. I wanted to back to the old school and just rely on tripods but I know for some shots, I will need some smoother movement. With what you have showed in this video, I will definitely be giving the monopod a try. This might be the solution to my gimbal problem
Thanks for these tips! While I use a monopod, mine has no tilt head, it's just a stick. I did not even think about it! I use it mainly as an extender for filming public events over other people's heads because sometimes it's difficult to push through the crowd to get into the first line. I have the camera screen turned downwards so that I can easily monitor the image.
I shoot strictly mobile. I think this will work like a steady cam for me and be more versatile than the gimbal. I mount the phone in a Beastgrip to mount lenses, mic and lighting
great video! all that without a gimbal! Your monopod is a manfrotto Xpro correct? have you tried the iFootage Cobra 2? trying to decide between them...great video!
Yea, it’s the XPRO w/ the 500 head ( amzn.to/3132Dq0 OR bhpho.to/3FBPvuv ). I haven’t used the iFootage but it seems like their features are pretty much the same. However, I have a lot of Manfrotto tripods and heads in various pieces of equipment so haven’t the same attachments for everything is nice.
@@CamberFilmSchool yeah...I have lots of Manfrotto heads and plates etc so that is easy to mount cameras etc...I don't want surprises at the last minute. I will try to compare the Xpro with the iFootage...I just want smooth movements. I usually shoot at 60fps and that helps...thanks!
Really cool! Guess what I just found out from the last video I watched: you can actually mount your gimbal on top of the monopod and it will be even more stable and versatile
Yea, but if I’m using a long lens, it would probably make more sense to set the tripod on the ground the way it’s meant to be used to make a long lens stable for a photo.
Which of these tricks was new to you? 🎥 Got any others that you like to use?
Thank you so much ❤️
All new! I may have to write them down and do reps. Till my crnematic buffness is up to par.

3:00 shoulder rig
That might be a good technique for still photography.
More stability the way a rifle is more stable than a pistol
It shouldn’t really matter for photography unless you’re using a slow shutter speed.
@@CamberFilmSchool "slow shutter speed" is relative. With a long lens the minimum shutter speed is fast. Stability is important
