    The Kharadrin Overlord lore really throws me for a loop, they went into the sky which is arguably the most dangerous place to go in a Warhammer setting, did they forget that like 80% of the Tzeentch roster can fly? Along with most Bloodthirsters, hell even plaguedrones would've fucked em up good

    • @2Tough
      @2Tough  2 года назад +3

      Well I imagine they didnt have good choices all round, XD I'm not sure if it was confidence or desperation that put them in the OG boats

    • @farseeraradrel4808
      @farseeraradrel4808 2 года назад +3

      As far as we know, the technology that allowed them to lift themselves into the sky was a prototype breakthrough before Tzeentch invaded. I assume they went for it due to a lack of better options and having the mean to do it on hand.

      @@farseeraradrel4808 Yeah, AFAIK, it was their discovery and application of Aether-gold that attracted Tzeench to Chamon. And when the holds were falling, they only had one escape route, the aether ships.

    Since the some Fyreslayers would work for chaos if they paid, would it be possible for some lodges to be corrupted by chaos? Or is their worship and reverence of Grimnir too powerful for them directly strengthen chaos and keeps them "untainted" so to speak.

    • @farseeraradrel4808
      @farseeraradrel4808 2 года назад +1

      There's a White Dwarf article (I think) which mentions the possibility that a Magmahold got taken over by Hashut (the Chaos God the Chaos Dwarves worshipped in Fantasy and whose name has been dropped a few times recently). We'll have to wait for an actual Chaos Duardin Army for details (if any), but it's certainly a possibility.

    Oh I just had a thought when you said you didn't know how the figured out the runes, my guess is it was a ring or part of armour and when 2 dwarfs got in a fight they got more powerful instead of beating each other up

    • @theDackjanielz
      @theDackjanielz 2 года назад +1

      I would like to point out that in a white dwarf there was a short story that explained how Fyreslayers are infact changing that philosophy.
      And i quote as a Runefather looked down apon a daughter instead of a son - "the Mortal realms are changing.......Maybe its time we changed with them..."

    • @mannypinerio9415
      @mannypinerio9415 2 года назад +3

      @@theDackjanielz As a fictional world they can change whatever they want. But like anything when you change something enough it stops being that original thing. Fyreslayers are and were an inverted reflection of the Daughters of Khaine and that is part of what "makes them so stinkin' cool". Sure GW can suddenly make Fyreslayers a "progressive" society, but it is always telling when calls for 'gender equity' only target all male ideas while leaving the all female ones alone.
      I love Doug, I am making no accusations at Doug, I am literally saying I think Doug is missing an interesting theme and aspect of the Fyreslayers that make them unique and interesting in the setting. DoK are an all female group of Aelves on a semi-secret mission to restore their dead god Khaine. Fyreslayers are an all male group of dwarves on a semi-secret mission to restore their dead god Grimnir. DoK are a super authoritarian group ruled by one high Oracle, the Fyreslayers act as self determined lodges that pursue the goal in parallel with no over arching leadership.
      One has a power hungry megalomaniac subverting their cause to steal the power of their cause in the shadows, the other stays true to their cause even when done in dubious ways.
      They are literally the exact opposites of each other. Dwarf - Aelf. Top Down - Bottom Up. In the Shadows - In Broad Daylight. Male - Female. Tall and Regal - Stunty and Square.
      Does making Fyreslayers suddenly have Rune-Daughters ruin all of their themes? No. Does it break the overall place they have in the story and reduce their unique aspect? Yes. It would be like adding male models to the witch kit, or adding Hag Kings to DoK.
      We have egalitarian dwarves in the KO and the CoS. Leave the patriarchy in the lodges alone.

      @@mannypinerio9415 Yeah i disagree, i want Fyremaidens and Fyrequeens.....It's been directly suggested various times by GW, it should happen.

    • @mannypinerio9415
      @mannypinerio9415 2 года назад +2

      @@theDackjanielz Those models would probably be cool models, and Fyremaiden is way cooler than Rune-Daughter so props for that. The problem is that just doesn't make any sense from in the context of the setting and the faction. It is not a matter of, "GW can and so should." it is a question of why would the Fyreslayers do it? That story you reference, what "changing world" in the realms would motivate a stubborn traditionalist dwarf in the Mortal Realms to come to that conclusion.
      We know what "times are changing" in our real world, but inside the fictional scenario the duradin of the lodges what has happened to create those changes? Logistically... either the lodges would have to be so hard pressed that their numbers are so diminished that they are forced to call upon their women... or they have to be flourishing so well that they have excess populations to the point where they are free to throw their women into the meat grinder without destabilizing their societies. In the modern world, we are the latter. Society is so populated that we can throw women into the grinder of war and society won't collapse.
      The lodges though... they are depicted as somewhere in between. Some are under constant threat but still hold out. Others are flourishing better, but in all cases they are still in realms dominated by chaos forces and in near constant states of conflict.
      A Fyremaiden unit could be cool, sort of like a female Fyreslayer who renounces hearth and home to seek death and glory in combat... but a unit like that would be more akin to the slayers of the old world... strange exceptions to the normal rules.
      If a person just says "nah I just want girl models and I don't care about the faction's thematic identity." Then that person isn't really a fan of what that faction is.
