That shot you got while on the "third rocket" is SOOOOO dope. I had to rewind the video 'cause my brain was like... how???? then I figured it out. Really cool shot.
Great review, thanks. Don’t know if I’m late to the conversation but a question in case you’re still fresh with your memories about the lens: I’ve seen other pictures and reviews and it seems there is a perceptible amount of barrel distortion, unlike the Voigtlander 15 [which has much less; I own one]. So my question, did you experience said barrel distortion? I’m using an M10R. I really appreciate the speed of 2.8 but I’m not sure whether to “upgrade” from the Voigtlander to the Zeiss to have to deal with the barrel distortion. Any comments are welcome...
good evening, what about the image quality on a 45 mp camera? Is not better a sigma 14 mm art or the newest nikon 14-24 s line? I work with a nikon equipment. thank you
Thanks for the helpful review. Any thoughts on this vs the Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/21 mm lens? Obviously, 21mm is not 15 mm - not even 'close,' but on 21 too has all the Zeiss build quality plus a much more budget friendly 82mm filter size. I am more interested in the image quality comparison however. Cheers!
No I haven’t used the milvus, although I would expect fairly similar results. I have since moved on from this lens to the Canon RF 15-35 f/2.8, which at 15mm is better than the Zeiss in every way.
What is the difference between a fish-eye lens and a wide angle? I shoot Micro 4/3 so a 12mm Micro 4/3 lens is like a 24 mm full frame. So would you be able to direct me to a good ultra Wide angle lens for Micro 4/3 system. Thank you for your time.
A fisheye lens is a 180° angle of view, and will give you a distorted rounded view of the world. It sounds like what you want is an ultra wide lens. In the micro 4/3 system, you want to something that is about 7 mm on the wide end, maybe like a 7 to 14 mm zoom.
What filters do you recommend? I’m looking to get a 6 stop and a CPL. I’m about to pull the trigger on BT Photography filters but was hoping you had diamond in the rough alternatives. Thanks
Todd Falasco Hey Todd, I use tiffen and B&W filters. I usually have a 3 and a 10 stop in my bag along with circular polarizer. I also have a Haida filter system that is a little more cumbersome to use but they work well. Bill
Very very nice video. Thanks so much. I love the Zeiss Distagon 15 mm 2.8. You make great picture!!
Thanks for watching!

There’s only a slight bit of distortion. Not even really noticeable until you correct it in the computer.

great review, helpful to make my choice
Have you used the milvus 15mm and if so do you have a video comparing this and that?

@@BillEricPhotography The Zeiss has better microcontrast, build quality and longevity. The Zeiss will last a lifetime, the Canon won't.
Probably true fortunately I’m not planning on keeping it a lifetime, just long enough until a better (for me) lens comes along!
@@BillEricPhotography lol Yeah I have a few zeiss that have lasted several lifetimes already but canon's AF wins in most circumstances nowadays!
What about the barrel distortion?
Very minimal and easily automatically correctable in Lightroom
Did you have a chance to compare this to a Sigma 14mm 1.8 Art?
No I never had the chance to use that Sigma

Is it WR
I’d say no, although I’ve gotten it moderately wet and had no problem

Torn between this and the nikon 14-24
