    I bought 3 4-panel dividers to section ruclips.net/user/postUgkxWv_wTHyTRVm0QkcOw1Rz2-5g_gDoRTkU off a living room space into a bedroom. The panels came on time, in good condition and were reasonably priced except the $25/panel shipping cost could have been a bit lower. They do have considerable gaps between the panels, which I will tape with a black electric tape. They are light, however with no wind inside, this is not a problem. You cannot make out any shapes through them, though they also let diffused light through so it does not darken the room.I calculated that every two panels at an angle can cover up to 24-30 inches width on the floor. It is safer to be around 26 inches (for every two panels) since by 30 inches it begins to be a bit unstable. I have 7 panels covering 92 inch width, and 5 panels covering 64 inch width. I had ordered 3 4-panel dividers, but I was easily able to take one panel off and attach it into the middle of another, thus creating a 3-, 4- and 5-panel dividers within a few minutes.

    Hi,
    How did you get the construction to stand up straight? I see in some comments that it fit, but how did you make sure that you could stand it up in the room? How much shorter does the entire construction have to be and won't you see the height difference?
    Thank you so much for the great tutorial!

    • @DMaker_builds
      @DMaker_builds  Год назад

      That’s a very good question but I don’t if it’s possible to see in the pictures, but in my case the divider is under a beam, so on the side of the beam the ceiling is higher giving more than enough room for the rotation. But anyway since the width is only 15cm there’s no need for much space for the rotation, I would say a few millimeters. I hope it helped 👍 Thanks

    I wish you had shown the installation because that is the hardest part. How do you get it to stand up without scrapping the ceiling or is it made a few mms shorter?

    • @DMaker_builds
      @DMaker_builds  Год назад

      Unfortunately I was not able to get it all on camera, but thrust me, it's definitely not the hardest part. 😉 You should make it a few millimeters shorter (5 mm should be enough but you might want to leave a 1cm gap to be on the safe side). I hope it helped 👍

      Thank you! The most challenging part of this project is handling a big structure, specially if you don't have a lot of space in your workshop. Also you should be very careful and precise with the measurements and drilling the holes for the dowels to get everything aligned perfectly. Apart from this, it's an easy project to start. Good luck! 👍😉

    Beautifully constructed. Thanks for sharing your creative process with us. I'm planning to build a similar unit with the hopes of incorporating a desk (either by depth or attaching a console desk top, to the unit). Do you know whether MDF is strong enough for this type of build? I'm based in the UK and based on a quick Google search so far, it seems that most of the plywood suppliers are based in other European countries which probably means the delivery will be more expensive than sourcing locally. Are you familiar with the EU/UK market or do you have any general advice for sourcing the materials please? I wonder whether it's more cost effective to purchase a pre-made unit instead of building from scratch? Would love to read your thoughts.

    • @DMaker_builds
      @DMaker_builds  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much for your comment! Regarding your questions, MDF should be strong enough for what you need, but it depends of course on the size of the desk and how you will integrate it in the build. About the availability of the material in the UK I really don't know the market so I can't answer your question properly. Here in Portugal it's easier to find MDF (and it's also cheaper) but you can also find plywood in this particular thickness and veneer. I hope I could help. 👍😉

    Really great job. But i miss the part that you lift it in the room and it fits exactly on the ceiling...

      @DMaker_builds  2 года назад

      Thanks! Yes, I was not able to film it but I was pretty lucky because it was just fit. But actually, I was not very worried about it because I measured it 10 times, before the build! 😀

      @@DMaker_builds hi, thank so much for the video! how did you manage to set it up straight in the room, usually it won't make the turn, how many millimeters should it be shorter? Thanks!

    • @DMaker_builds
      @DMaker_builds  Год назад

      @@fijevj That’s a very good question but I don’t if it’s possible to see in the pictures, but in my case the divider is under a beam, so on the side of the beam the ceiling is higher giving more than enough room for the rotation. But anyway since the width is only 15cm there’s no need for much space for the rotation, I would say a few millimeters. I hope it helped 👍

    Brilliant, this video is exactly what I need! Do you think 1 screw in the middle and 2 dowels on the sides (but no glue) would work alright? Thinking more about being able to take it down and reuse it someplace else in the future.

    • @DMaker_builds
      @DMaker_builds  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! I think it might be ok, but I would go more on the safe side and use 2 or 3 screws instead of one. 👍

    Great job, very clean and precise! How did u install the wall in the house without scraping the wall? Are you disassembling one of the bottom of the frame?

    • @DMaker_builds
      @DMaker_builds  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! I’m not sure I understood well your question, but I’ve just slide it under the ceiling, and it fit perfectly. There was no need to disassemble the bottom of the frame. 👍

      Thanks for the reply! I am planning to build one in the same room I need to divide and I was not sure how to fit it perfectly when I lift it, or if I need to stay a bit shorter that the height of the ceiling

    • @DMaker_builds
      @DMaker_builds  2 года назад +1

      @@SofiaCarenzi If the width of the boards is not much, you only need the frame to be a few millimeters shorter than the height of the ceiling, so that you are able to lift it.
