The only time we ever sang this song is when we recorded it. This was one take on Cuba Habana Television. Lip sinking not too shabby.
The Duprees have entertained audiences who love their unique and romantic sound for more than six decades. Although members have changed throughout the years, the singing group stayed in touch with their East Coast roots and dedication to bringing favorite classics in an updated style.
Joey Van Canzano was the lead singer in the early years of the 1960’s when The Duprees, with repeated hits of reimagined oldies from the big band era, hit the charts with more than 15 charted recordings.
Joey Van left the group to pursue a solo career to be replaced by Mike Kelly in the late 1960’s to turn in a more "pop" direction they released an album under the name "The Italian Asphalt & Pavement Company" and charted with lead singer Mike Kelly with one song reaching #97 "Check Yourself". Then again with a great performance by Mike Kelly on "The Sky's The Limit".
By the late 1970’s the group was finding it hard to get a record contract and music companies went off in many other directions as the British invasion, Motown and Disco became mainstream.
In 1978 lead vocalist Mike Kelly left the Duprees and was replaced by Tommy Petillo on lead vocals and the group continued to perform throughout the tri state area. The last of the original group's performances with members John Salvato, Mike Arnone, and Joe Santollo's with Larry Casanova on vocals and Tommy Petillo on lead was New Years' 1979-80.
In the mid 1980’s John Salvato formed his own Duprees group with Tommy Petillo on lead vocals for a second time.
Mike Arnone never stopped and continued to perform with his own group with Richie Rosato on lead vocals from 1982 until 2002 to be replaced by Tommy Petillo for a third time for The Duprees..
Tommy Petillo and The Duprees with Phil Granito and Jimmy Spinelli continue to perform today in the tradition and sound that originally made The Duprees such a well-loved and successful group. The romantic moods and deep meanings resonate in the lyrics by the smooth lead vocals of Tommy Petillo in the true essence of what has always been the heart, soul and voice of the Duprees. The Duprees classic songs will never die recording 10 cd's from 2001 to date.

Tommy I think you are one of the best singers I have listened to..I danced to You Belong To Me back in 1966. I have to say I like the later version better. And you are really handsome

I’m a huge fan of your performances as a member of the Dupree. I once saw a video of you doing “Wonderful Tonight “ by Eric Clapton. I haven’t been able to find it on RUclips. If it’s there, someone help me find it, please. If not, someone please post it. Probably my favorite performance of yours.

We flew to Florida to film a Cubana Television production. From airport the producers limousine us to a men’s store and bought us three suits each with all accessories. We filmed in an old monastery full production of dancers and crew many scenes then buses to a four level yacht to cruise up and back the inter coastal shooting outside performances and the scene you refer to with the shining suits is one. I would do it all again in that suite my friend. Tp

The only thing these guys are lacking is "Originality". They were never on any of our hits.

To Tom Bialoglow, in 1961 you were truly blessed to be a part of the early recordings of "The Duprees". That being said you left the group in the early sixties at the very beginning, over "61 YEARS" ago and must have many regrets, as you continue to grab onto something you have no right to do. You were a background vocalist who Mike Arnone brought back into The Duprees to bolster a lawsuit between another member. But your stay lasted a very short time because you were tone deaf. So, get over it and appreciate the fact that you where apart of some great recordings by the The Duprees and stop the nonsense. Everyone knows we are not the ORIGINALS. But we also made our bones in singing these songs for over 50 years as well as recording 9 cd's over precious years. . I sang with most (4) originals and know the difference. I pray for your peace of mind. Tommy Petillo

Correction! You never sang with me. I'm an "ORIGINAL". And you never sang with Joey Canzano also known as Joey Vann. our lead singer. He was also an "ORIGINAL" In 1989 I got a call from Mike to be part of Mike Arnones Duprees. That was after a hiatus of twenty-seven years. We sang together for two years doing 85 shows a year. I go to mass every Sunday and sometimes on Saturday evening. I'll pray for your peace of mind too.

@@tombialoglow549 That is correct I never sang with you or Joey Van, but both of you were not there very long.

What is your purpose of slamming us at every opportunity. I have a beautiful peace of mind for what We today’s Duprees have accomplished. You act like we stole something from you. YOU WALKED AWAY, YOU MADE THAT CHOICE. And PS they carried you till the case was over. You didn’t write the songs, you do not own any claim to the Duprees except to say you sang on the records that a thousand other guys could have done. It’s You trying to steal Fame from those who have worked for it for more the 53 years. So let me say by wishing you a better peace of mind, we are not terrible people and if you accept the fact that we have made a very successful career from what you started you might have had an opportunity to enjoy our friendship.
