Why not take care of the military people that ate, drank, laid in it.. It went through the Fort before going to Anniston. Solder's went through a lot because of it. Go after of them for the solider sake.

Grew up 20 minutes out of Sauget. My mothers family lived in the same area most of their life. My mother died of a rare cancer that is predominately found in the middle east, my aunt had a brain tumor, and my grandmother had cancer twice(born in 1932 so right after they started producing and dumping in the Sauget/Cahokia area).
Monsanto lives on yet my mother does not.

I grew up in white street in Cahokia my backyard was the creek they were dumping in. Tho I was born in 97 and I think the clean up was in 99 I still wonder about what this could’ve done to my body. It’s scary.

Thank you for this report. What about Fort McClellan? My Dad was stationed there. I went through BT summer of 1980. I developed malignant cancer toward the end of AIT. I have other serious medical issues. It's now 2024. Why are the stuffed shirts in DC, Monsanto, EPA, OSHA & others ignoring the base?

when testing was going on you could only be tested for free if you lived in the city limits.. if not it would cost $300 for the test and at that time I had $0 in the bank. I worked setting up mobile homes within blocks of the plant and dug in the dirt.

Oh crap. I moved to Anniston after college to join my girlfriend who was in the Chemical Corp (chemical/biological/radiological). I wondered if it was dangerous to be on base but I wasn’t there that often. I did worry about her, though. I didn’t even know about Monsanto’s dumping then.
It was 1983 and our first place was on Noble because we couldn’t afford better until I got a job. She was still in chem school so we didn’t have much. We lived not too far from these neighborhoods. Good grief. I had already been poisoned by PBB in Michigan. But these poor people. I can’t believe I’m just finding out about this now.

I was stationed at Ft. McClellan, Alabama in 1977 for my WAC(Women's Army Corps) basic training. I entered the U.S. Army as a healthy 18 year old young lady. I had stage 2 breast cancer, and the VA hospital performed a bilateral mastectomy (surgical removal of both breasts) to save my life. I was denied my VA compensation as the outcome stated, "non-service connected"!!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

I maintain some of the remaining buildings on Fort McClellan. Mostly around the old polygraph building and that area. We used to have the old Officers club, ( Remington Hall ) and of course Silver Chapel, and Buckner point apartments. Well Buckner point apartments replaced the systems that we worked. Remington Hall has been vacant now for around 10 years, and Silver Chapel has what I think is a financial problem because they have so few members now. I grew up in Anniston, right where 431 and 21 connect.( or split, depending on your direction.) Right up from the now closed V.F.W.
