Hi Nicolas, I find your videos are really good quality input for someone starting out in Photography. I`m gonna try to stick to deliberate Topics on my next rolls.
Very inspiring video! I’ve been trying to come up with a theme I can photograph that can tell a unique story about being a toddler in London. My imagination went wild while listening to your video and I’m very excited to finally have the final ingredient to make my theme interesting 👌👌
Nice video thanks! Did you shoot these with digital ? Or film? Do you find it easier to focus on themes like that when you shoot digital or film? Zenon
All pics in this video are on digital. To me the exploration of a location is maybe better suited for digital because I waste so many frames. For example I shot 1000 pictures for the project about surfing. 🙃 Digital does bring a feeling of safety, the confirmation that you got the shot… The more specific the picture I have in mind, the harder it is to accept the accidents and randomness that sometimes goes with film… In that way I guess it’s easier to stay tightly on theme when shooting digital. There’s sometimes a feeling of looseness with people that shoot film : they’ll accept small accidents and imperfections in images. This looseness can lead them to accept accidents and imperfections at the the scale of the project as a whole. “I’m emotionally attached to this image so I’m gonna include it, without once questioning if it fits in the story or not”. I’m the opposite of loose when using film cameras : I prefer them for mostly staged/posed pictures and always on tripods. Hope that makes sense.
Incredibly informative video. Thank you!
Much inspiring! thank you very much!
