  • On todays video I cover the steps to add a safety switch / disconnect to the lithium converted golf cart system that will not allow the golf cart to power on while its charging.
    Diode - amzn.to/3HVIjwX
    36v Relay - amzn.to/3SAG5rJ
    48v Relay - amzn.to/3HWQoS6
    72v Relay - amzn.to/3OHkYD8

    Great idea. I got in the habit of putting my Yamaha in tow when charging just in case I forget and pull away. Realizing we all don’t have tow run switches this covers it. One of the fellow’s I did a conversion for stopped over with his charger in hand with the cord pulled out. Drove away with it plugged in . Luckily was able to repair it so he didn’t have to buy another. With kids around we have to really make things bulletproof. Great tip !

    Great video, only question I have is wouldn’t this be ineffective if the charger cycle was over? Because it only works when the charger is active and has a voltage output?

    That is a good safety feature. Somewhat surprising that these manufacturers marketing to golf carts isn’t putting out an all in one product that would encompass those parts

    Another great video, thanks! My question for those who have lithium batteries that have the On/Off switch like yours, why wouldn't turning the battery off (which should mean no discharge) do the same? Or do you need to have your battery switch turned on to charge it?

    Hi Ryan. Thanks so much for your great channel, I have learned a lot from you. I replaced my eight 12volt lead acid batteries with eight lifepo4 batteries in my 2015 Polaris Ranger EV. I also installed the Victron BVM-712 battery monitor. The batteries get out of balance on a regular basis and it’s a pain to individually gauge each battery with my voltmeter. Is there a way I can install a gauge on each of the eight batteries so I can just look under the seat and determine whether they’re balanced or not? The BVM 712 monitors the entire battery pack, not each battery individually. Thank you for any guidance you can provide.

    Hi Ryan. I am confused about the diode. I understand that the diode allows electricty to only flow one direction.
    I already have the wireless keyfob that disables the key switch. Wont this prevnt the cart from moving when charging?
    If I connected a relay to another portion of the constant power leading to the key switch, that should also prevent the cart from moving regardless of whether the wireless key fob is on or not.
    Since the key switch output wire connects to the solenoid and then to the controller, I dont understand why the diode is needed.
    Thanks, Brent

    Interesting, nice job thanks a Lester summit 2 charger onboard should have the same diode/relay set up with LEAD acid carts? but nun the less do leave the f/r switch in neutral at least Cheers basically if you can key on during charging its an issue I guess

    The Facebook groups are chomping at the bit for you to review the new Alltrax AC motor/controller kit. 72v. There is no other option. Your audience is waiting brother.

    I have a question regarding your Cushman hauler. I just upgraded mine with the Vatrer 72v lithium. What did you do with the gray and red interlock wires that were in the charger loom? I’ve read to just connect those 2 together to close the circuit. I respect your knowledge and would appreciate your input. Thanks!

    • @Fentertainment
      @Fentertainment  2 месяца назад

      Mine didnt have the stock charge receptacle because the cart had the onboard charger when it was stock. In regular carts I just unplug that receptacle and run the red wire to the batteries positive.

      thanks Ryan but maybe we’re talking about 2 different things. Coming from the stock charger loom are 2 wires, a gray and red. Supposedly they tell the cart that it’s charging and disables the cart from running. Since the new charger from Vatrer doesn’t have anyplace to connect these it’s been suggested on a forum to connect them to close the circuit. I didn’t want to do any damage but maybe I should give it a try? Thanks!

    What about using the blue wire on the Ezgo txt and rxv (can’t touch key switch) that comes from the old charge port
    48v no
    When diode has power it switches output to zero v and controller shuts off movement

    Can't I keep this from happening by flipping the tow/run switch to tow mode?

      @Fentertainment  7 месяцев назад +1

      Sure, if you remember to do it every time.

    Once the battery is fully charged and the charger kicks off, won’t it move again since the relay is no longer getting 48v from the charger?

    I have the 5 pin converter installed on a ezgo txt I am in the process of installing a relay but I'm not sure what to do with the switch wire from the relay and the green switch wire from the converter? Help please.

    • @Fentertainment
      @Fentertainment  7 месяцев назад

      If you are asking how I would install a 5 wire converter & relay? Easy. Converter Yellow & Green to Relay 87, Relay 30 to Battery Positive. Relay 85 to battery ground, Relay 86 to key switch on the cart, Converter ground to battery ground and distribution ground for accessories, Converter Red to fuse block, Converter blue wire wont be used.

    • @Fentertainment
      @Fentertainment  7 месяцев назад

      If you wire it like I mentioned then the green wire on the converter will get its power the same time the converter does and the relay is switching it on and off.

    Either put the charger on the drivers seat or hang it off the wheel,

      This solution won't work with an on board charger.

      @@chriswilson5917 correct, but I would maybe run the extension cord through the steering wheel. However you would have to remember to do that every time!

    Wouldn't it be easier to just take the key out. Do people still leave the keys in their car lol.

      I leave the key in my cart. It's in a garage in a gated community, and I have dogs and guns. It's not going anywhere without me knowing it. I don't want to have to search for the golf cart key from the last family member who took it out.

      @@bernieglass8098 My kids don't have any problems with right/wrong, just like I don't have any problems with leaving my key in my cart. Live a better life and then maybe you too can be somewhere that you don't have to hide your cart keys from everyone.

    • @Internetpilot
      @Internetpilot 7 месяцев назад

      @@bernieglass8098 I'm not making up excuses and again don't have any problems because I actually wouldn't do this mod since I'm running lead acids with the OEM charger, and will continue to do so as long as Lithium batteries are ridiculously overpriced while providing relatively little to no benefit. It's just a good safety solution for those who have moved on to Lithium and/or aftermarket chargers. Absolutely no reason to poo-poo this like you felt the need to do. Face it, dude. You're just another hater.
