In the othertale universe gaster - creator of the two brothers- was a being who’s head radiated pure fire similar to grillby but he was still skeletal beyond that, as such both papyrus and sans have traits from that fire side and as such after sans was attacked -by who? Nobody knows- his skull caved in, his soul, in a desperate attempt to save itself, replaced that skull with blazing fire. Soon after he adjusted the human was due to be judged and sans did, eventually tire out and get hit, but once more it was replaced with blazing fire. However, why it flashes rainbow is yet to seen.
