This Single Track Was BRUTAL.. | Sidewinder Trail Colorado

- After taking a dip in the Gunnison River, we headed back out into the mountains to finish the next half of the ride. With the heat setting back in, and the fatigue from getting to this point, we were in for a treat on this next section of single track.
Sidewinder is the name and it is a brutal trail full of jagged rocks and steep drops. It seems to be an infinite loop of hairpin turns followed by harsh rock faces and angry trees.
I was having the time of my life as always but it was one hell of a battle.
Enjoy the ride!

I last rode this trail about 5 years ago at age 62. I've since sold my '08 KTM 300 and have hung up my single track boots. When the trail was first opened, it was very difficult (still is, I would imagine) as it was a shovel wide and not bedded in yet. In spots it was hard to discern the trail location. I rode this many times by myself, and I don't recommend that, and usually in the north-to-south direction you did, but never rode it in the summer, always spring and fall. At 20 miles long and unrelenting, I never had the energy to ride it both ways in one day. Great video.
Looks like a great mountain bike trail. Looks flowy and fun. There’s a trail near my house like that.
So nice to see a trail that is not groomed and shaped to perfection, this is proper!
Keep telling yourself you are having fun even tho you have no more air to breath. Freaking awesome!! :)
Always! I love the pain. Thanks for watching😁
@@AdventureDaily are kx good because I got a 1989 kx125 you can see it on RUclips James bawgus
@@jamesbawgus4811 that bike will teach you how to ride. Jet it for your elevation and keep up on maintenance. Ride on!
@@cheddarshredder6572 thanks buddy.
I bet you are so glad you went to Colorado. One great ride after another.
Epic ride. Cant believe you did sidewinder trail right after the river trail. I think sidewinder is my new favorite trail although ive never been on it. Maybe this spring when its not so hot.
I’ve always ridden it on 500cc KTM EXCs. More of a handful, especially because it stalls out so easy.
Thanks for the vid.
Just got my new bike and aspire to get to your level. Crazy trails and rock climbs- congrats and appreciate the video share!
Seat time! You will get there. Thanks for watching
I currently live in Gunnison, and watching all your videos and the videos at Taylor really make me want a bike
20 minutes from the house. A great trail
It gets better on the Northern section. Tons of good stuff out there!
All I can say is WOW.
Gnarly stuff!
Best to trail riding vid ever I’m new to the channel but can already tell you are a great person
Welcome aboard! Thank you for the kind words.
@@AdventureDaily no problem
Nice video! I live in Montrose, and we ride the Sidewinder (my son worked on the trail crew that developed it) on mountain bikes - it's a real challenging set of trails, and is a lot of fun. It's interesting to see it from a motorized perspective. And it can really get baking out there ...
Gods country. I like the woods of Colorado but that looks fun.
Looks like fun!
That trail looks awesome!
It was!
Looks like IRC gummy tire heaven!
My Shinko loved it.
Well, I won’t complain any more about the measly rocks on my OHV trails! I had some body English going here in my recliner helping you over some of that stuff. 😀
That's awesome Chuck😂
really really cool - btw still recovering from 3rd tier shoulder separation - all I remember riding my 2020 crf 250 hitting some soft high dirt/sand and taking a spill - still dont know what happened sunk in and stopped but your video was killer - rookie rider but love it
Crazy how far you've came since the 250L. Not sure if you still have it or not but that would be killer to see someone really taking it in some gnarly stuff. Keep grinding. 💯
It really is! I still have the big girl but I am not sure what her fate is. Thanks for sticking around!
@@AdventureDaily man when you're feeling better you ought to bring her to Wayne just too see how far you've came and make ya appreciate that KTM that much more!
Those rocks in sidewinder/Montrose will bake you in the summer. Best time is late OCT or Nov (or springish). Fun trail though and great job on it! Good fun and a cool area to ride. Sidewinder is super long...best to do it as a morning thing then just do easy stuff in the afternoon. on COTREX it says sindewinder is about 33 miles long. (actually that is Eagle Valley and Sidewinder combined).
awesome trail
Was a blast!
I've only run the south end from Peach Valley about half way up before we bail out back down the road. Need to do the whole trail before I get too old. Was just up there mid november and weather and trails were perfect. Nice vid!!!
that sun was brutal.....My skin was melting :)
Enjoy the pain!
Nice ass ride! 👍👍 😲
Really cool to see! Nice channel friend 😻💕💕
Awesome video!
Thanks!
Awesome video. Looks like a great trail. I see you said 20 miles. About how long did it take you? Thanks for sharing!!
Man I've been missing ur videos and streams and I've been watching for awhile can't wait till Sunday to try to get to the stream
Awesome, I wanna go to Colorado and ride in these trails! We live in Mo, you ever head of Chadwick?
I have not! i'll definitely check it out though.
No way. 1:34 min. in and I had two pucker moments just watching!
If you ever try a 200 two stroke that would be a good vid.
Thanks now I'm tired. Whoa.
It 25 degrees and I got done blowing snow so this is a treat
That sounds awesome haha!
Is Snow your dog?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤘

You need to hit restocks night horse out there if you want truly brutal!
Wicked trails! Some nice head splitters in there. One suggestion, if you devise a go pro mount off the front fork, it will steady all the footage when you get into the tight bumpy stuff. Your head wobble translates to stomach turning footage haha. Also the POV off the front wheel actually shows the perspective of how technical the terrain is. Just to mix up the footage 👌
You local to Colorado by any chance? Just discovered your channel today and realized I'm just a few hops and skips away from here down highway 50 in Fremont County, just got my bike running too so im looking for a few riding buds at some point.
Hi Mr deficit I was wondering i know you have a brozz 250 I was wondering if it would be a good first bike as I've never been on a motorcycle
you can ask anyone that question sir. any 4 stroke dirt bike is good enough for beginners
I think it would be a great first bike to be able to work on yourself and such. But just know any japanese 250 would be much faster and more reliable.
You would probably outgrow it fast but yes it would be a great starter bike.
@@AdventureDaily I don't want to go fast 65 70 is good enough for me I might not even be going that fast on it
I honestly think you should get a crf300 rally
I remember I used to ride you for sitting and now look🤷🏻♂️
You would say oh I have 300$ seat so Imma use it or your to tall you said. Now your preaching standing. Atleast you learned lol
How the knee btw
What was the elevation like....were you slanted, going up hill? Hard to tell. I saw Slo slide to the right once, but he looked to be on level ground.
This trail was pretty flat for the most part, steady fluctuations in elevation. The rocks were the challenge.
95 degrees on Sidewinder😂
Drink more water, I wear a Camelback Mule. Works great and is comfortable for all day rides. Great footage btw, I love Colorado. Have you ridden North Delta OHV or the Grand Mesa?
I had a 2.5 Litre Pack and had to fill it up in the river for the second half of this ride. A couple salt tabs too. Just Taylor Park and Sargents but I will be back soon.

Some foreshadowing.
What camera are you filming this on
Can you imagine if you tried them trails when you had the 450L you would have a lot of editing to do because you would be none stop swearing
I might have died out on the trails from exhaustion😂
"I have bad knees". Oh the horrible foreshadowing.
Did the guy in front of you in the first part of the video ever have his feet on the pegs ?
No offense but you were riding sitting down until this last season. If you’re riding standing up and feel more comfortable that way now then good on ya, that’s awesome
Are kx good?
@james bawgus: yes! Jet it for elevation and kx's are beast!
@@cheddarshredder6572 good because I got a kx125
@@cheddarshredder6572 thanks buddy
All these bikes are so similarly designed there really is no "best" bike aside from material qualities and perhaps a few aftermarket parts collaborations from time to time and minor design changes, just depends on how good you are at tuning your stuff that makes a good bike.
But I'm team green all the way, been riding Kawis since I was 5 or 6.
Oh yes destroying the natural environment selfishly for about 70 yrs now? But hey its fun.
What do you mean? People have been making trails for thousands of years
2 stroke suck
@george sishinde: obviously you cant ride. 2 strokes have no equal!
@@cheddarshredder6572 non sense from a cheese head
