@ DuoMon is the best thing I have bought for Pokemon Go, I've been using it for months, I left a detailed review in a separate comment but it is just great. Thanks for your review on it because you were actually the one that lead me to it. If I remember correctly you were doing a detailed comparison between it and the Gotcha and was testing it with the help of Mom.

I bought the Duomon a couple of months after it released and I am very happy on the performance. The connection is solid (you can go far from the device and still be connected (very good if another player is using your Duomon), and it catches and spins fast which is the main selling point to me.
    Some cons.
    1. It is expensive. I have the Brook and Gotcha evolved before this. It is the most money I spent on an auto-catcher.
    2. It uses AAA battery. I bought rechargeable batteries just for this.
    3. The device itself seems flimsy. After 2 months of usage, the clip that keeps the cover on the battery just randomly broke. I never dropped it prior to this happening since it's always in my bag whenever I use it. The device is fine and I can still use it. I just put some masking tape on the battery gate so that it stays shut. It's just a bit of a hassle whenever I need to change the battery since I also need to re-apply the tape after opening the battery gate.
Overall, I still recommend the DuoMon.

The main benefit that u get with all auto connect gotchas is having it ALWAYS be spinning and catching as long as u check it every so often.
Meaning u can stack up ultras and pinap berries before big events. Aka u never have to spin a stop manually again.
I dont think i have in the past 2-3yrs since i got my duomon.
i of course have it on spinning stops during events but having it catch makes no sense IMO. U have a higher chance at getting a catch using a ultra even with out a nice or great catch circle; and u get more candies as u can add a pinap quickly on top before u quick catch in AR mode n run.
Point being the auto resource getting before events that u need them for is the REAL golden goose with these devices.

I'm loyal to the Pocket Egg Catcher. On heavy play the batteries last about 2 months (using Amazon basic AAs). The signal strength is better than the gotchas and the go+. I don't care for speed too much, if I'm on a heavy catch event, I'm gonna hand catch and leave it on spin only. This was one of the first devices that can be reconnected through in game only, and that's what sold me. I've had mine for about 5 years and back then it was single account only. That being said, I wouldn't get it now but wait for the new official catcher and see how it works.

I’ve used the ball plus with a clip from Etsy since then and it’s worked really well. The vibration was annoying at first but it actually is kinda nice to know it’s working and I just keep it in my bigger pocket. I did preorder the new one coming out this summer so we’ll see.

    Some things I've noticed:
The Pokeball Plus does spin pokestops automatically with a massive caveat: there must be a pokemon in it. New pokeball pluses have a Mew in it (It's for Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee games). If the Mew is still in there, poke stops spin automatically. If you've taken your Mew out into Let's Go (or someone lied in their amazon description and the ball is Used, watch out for that) and not returned or replaced with another mon, the ball doesn't autospin in Pogo. Took me a while to figure out why it auto spun for the first day I played with it and not after that -- I started playing Let's Go Pikachu with my Mew and didn't put any other pokemon in the ball after that.

Strap still stays tight in place but slide off easier to recharge, have done this simple mod to dozens of Gotchas and never had a complaint. Inside the wristband there is a square nub that locks the band to the watch. Cutting that out makes the band use the rubber resistance instead of "Locking" into the band.

  • @Nik-Dybdahl

Fyi the gotcha evolved doesn't just disconnect, it now also comes with the nice feature of randomly just not doing anything when connected. It'll stare at pokemon and stops and not touch em (even when inventory and pokemon not full). To fix that you have to completely disconnect it, meaning you have to go under your pokemon go settings, go into devices and remove it, you then close the pogo app (sometimes a Bluetooth reset is also necessary), open up pogo and connect it again. So basically you don't just have to reconnect it, you have to do the entire setup. And it does this more than I'd like. If its disconnected at at least the PokeBall in the corner is greyed out and all you gotta do is press it again, but with this the only way you'll notice is that you aren't getting new Pokemon and items.

I bought the Brook Auto catcher which lets you connect to 2 phones. But honestly the ability to recognize stops and Pokémon’s is pretty slow. Like sometimes it’s so quick, it catches faster than hand catching. But most of the times it takes so long to recognize that even if there is a pokestop or not.
Biggest glitch is that if you have no regular balls, and there is a bunch of pokestops or Pokémon’s around, it’s going to get confused on what to do and would keep locking on Pokémons for the longest time and then won’t catch them because obviously you don’t have the regular poke ballsz
Still I would say it connects to 2 phones and when it works it’s actually amazing. And amazing keychain holder design with rechargeable body. And a great and diligent lighting system explained on what is happening inside the system.

Wow I thought had them all but no. Thank you. What I think :
Gotchas- had about 4 of these but kept losing them they would get knock out of the wrist strap did find them a lot of the time but eventually lost them all. Had the old pin charging which had trouble to make a good connection. Maybe that flimsy new charging way might be better.
Gotcha Evolve- I hated the Evolve charging. I did have trouble getting the strap off to charge, ended up pulling the wrong end off and the strap no longer was a strap had to carry it around and eventually lost that one too
Dual Catchemon - have 2 and love them but I go through soooooo many batteries it’s ridiculous
Pokeball plus - oooo I have to get that cage you have thx for telling me about that
247- I have to get that. Didn’t know about it. With 5 phones I often can’t tap one of the phones in raids. Looks great for being at home
Conclusion - I don’t drive so for me the speed not as important but the power life and easy to operate the most important to me
    Thanks so much

My favourite is the Brook Pocket Auto Catch LIGHTNING. I love that it has a physical button to press so you can press it through your clothes without looking, and you can't press it accidentally. Also the settings only change on the app, which is a lot better than the likes of the Gotcha (which I had 2 of before). It's so simple and works really well. My only complaint is that the strap sometimes comes undone on its own if I'm carrying my toddler on my arm. The little button gets caught on the end of the strap so it doesn't completely fall off though. I still MUCH prefer it over my Gotchas I had previously.

The bluetooth range in that device is so good, you don't need to keep the device close to you. You can easily put AirTag or similiar device under that rubber cover/case what is included in a box and you'll never lose your quite expensive catcher.

It is niantic after all so I doubt they would do something that genuinely nice for the community of grinders that even use gotchas.
But if they do holy moly ill never use a red ball again. lol
Me and most grinders id say straight up delete great balls.
We then save reds for when im not playing and when i am ill save up ultras so i can throw one and run away quick increasing my catch speed for an event.
If they made this change moveing up to great balls would sure help a ton with this method we already have set up.

I have a modified Go+ that has a autocatch-switch (you can decide if you want it to autocatch or if you want to press the button - there's a thing pressing the button inside if you choose autocatch) and the battery has been replaced by a rechargable battery (so you can just pluck it in to charge it). It was a bit expensive (about 65$), but I really like it.

@Crysal Can you explain some questions? I guess all those devices uses ninatic API for their own autocatcher (and doesn't capture the screen) so where we can find a description of this API? And second: if we talk about advanced developers and DIY: does we really need those parts and bluetooth controller, why we can't just root the phone and create the same fucntionality as blutooth device emulator program (I guess android should allow "register" software emulators as devices, but I'm not an android developer..)?

I have the brook reviver plus and like it over all the ones I've had! I had an Evolve, original got-cha, got-cha generation, and go-plus. Like you said, I hated the Evolve's strap and the connection lol. I wanted to try Brook's watchic plus, but it doesn't ship to where I am at. The Reviver has fit my needs, it typically lasts a week for me. I sometimes play 6 hours+ a day. It connects better than all of my other ones I've used. I haven't bothered with the duomon because I don't like the puck design lol, I prefer a wearable thing that doesn't look silly. I have to say I really love the egg best. First and foremost because of the reliable connection. This thing NEVER ever gest disconnected. And I like that I can turn it off.
Then I really like the dual catchmon. I have the old version so I am very surprised to see there is a newel model with a button to turn it off/on. Makes me jealous because I really want that option. Since it uses smaller batteries, being able to turn it off/on would be a really time saver. I would not have to replace the batteries as often.
The one I like least is the pokéball plus. It is annoying to carry that pokéball with me ;; I wish I had that plastic thing around it to keep the button pressed down like you have. Where did you get it ? I use a rubber band and it is very flimsy. Very often it slips away so... yeah.

Not an issue with Brook, but with all auto catchers in general. So, if you are looking for something to spin stops and throw low level balls when you are not able to, it does the job!

Just want to add that the longevity of the gotcha evolve hasn't been great. Between myself and my wife we've gone through 6 of them. With each dining around the 3-4 month mark. I believe this could be down to the charging brick used as with the last ones purchased we have only used the small apple charger instead of the large older version. We use it directly and not with an included charge cable so it's likely the issue but neither of us can find the cable and can't remember if one was even provided.
I've also been using the gotcha ranger more recently and that has been quite good also but the protruding touch screen can be an issue when in your pocket as it can cause the screen to activate and next minute your no longer spinning stop because you've accidently deactivated it in your pocket.

One big issue regarding the batteries is that any device here that can be charged over USB has an integrated battery that cannot be replaced.
A lithium battery *will* be dead at some point and then this device is useless. I have an old Gotcha here that I can't use anymore for that reason. I have a Dual Catchmon and a Powermon with regular batteries (AAA and AA) respectively and I can use rechargeable batteries with them. Additionally, if I run out of batteries on the hunt, I can replace them with another set of batteries that I either brought with me or bought at a nearby store.

You probably didn't notice that Gotcha Evolve got an app that you can toggle/enable the features, and you can also see battery percentage in it
    Adding my experiences
Pokemon Go + : Terrible connection range. Five meters and it would drop, and even having it close to my phone could make it drop out, making the connection last from a minute and up to 30 minutes, mostly less. The vibration is so annoying, and it's noticeable for anyone close by, even when it vibrate in your pocket.
Gotcha Evolve : Fast spinning, fast catching, even when my screen was off. It caught and spun super fast, probably faster than having PoGo open, while the screen was off. Love the iOS app for it, and i agree with the funky charger, not bueno. The screen broke on mine and is only showing 5% from the bottom, after a random day in my backpack. It still works tho. I never had connection issues with mine, tho it could disconnect being more than 10 meters away, even in open areas, but otherwise it did last that one hour they are allowed before reconnecting.
I only tested those two above, tho both had very slow, super super slow catch rate, at spotlight hours and community days, which is probably made this way by Niantic as they can control something at their end. Having it catch both pokemon and spin stops can make you catch super slow and miss a lot of stops, but if you only enable spin, you can spin a lot, as it fly through those, with the Gotcha Evolve.

I’ve had multiple ones and the Gotcha evolve has been top tier for me. I remove the wristband and get a keychain attachment and then it’s super small. I drive a lot and I average 200-250 catches from just driving around from job to job.

I had a Pokémon go plus (hated the wristband so wasn’t using it) that I lost while shoveling snow off my sidewalk. Found it in the spring after the snow melted and it still WORKED 😮! Unfortunately, the universe didn’t want me to have it as it jumped out of my pocket into the toilet just as I was flushing 😢😂. Then replaced it with a go-tcha with usb charger. Found it way better than the go plus as I didn’t have to press buttons. But it did get snagged out of the wrist band and lost it a few times. Eventually couldn’t find it so bought go-tcha evolve. Lots people assumed I was wearing an Apple Watch type device. The integrated charger was a plus since you couldn’t forget to bring it with you like the original one, lol. The curved design made it kinda annoying to charge it in car or with other items on multiple port charger. Unfortunately, despite being careful when removing the strap to charge it, I somehow managed to break it, half stayed on the device, half came off on the wristband 😭😭😭. Biggest issue, there’s no customer service to talk to see if it’s repairable. Twist of fate, found my original go-tcha and back to using that one. I’d love to try a duomon but like everyone else, waiting to see what go ++ does to auto catchers in the summer.

    Another Duomon Review+Tips:
TL;DR: expensive but worth it. Fast, good connection, good for catching as you fight rockets and car ride (as passenger). A little big, has 1 feauure that I can’t mute :(, but overall, I am so glad I got one of these.
    The long version
$90 is a lot, but i play a lot so it’s worth it. I’m on a college campus and probably caught 30k Pokémon in 4.5 months. The absolute best part of it is spinning pokestops before comm days. I can go to the library for part of 2 days (access to 6-9 pokestops bc of GPS drift) and wind up with 600 great balls and 400 ultra balls. I also really like how the device brings value back to pokeballs. I actually care abt spinning them again.
My 2 biggest complaints are the overall size (I hate carrying stuff in my pockets, could just be a me problem). It comes with a clip, and so I attached my earbuds so I don’t lose either. My second biggest complaint is that you cant turn off ALL sounds. There’s buttons you push to see how many Pokémon each side has caught and stops each side has spun, and you CANNOT turn that off. It’s a bit mortifying in class. It’s a great feature, but I wish I could make it more difficult to access cuz I don’t use it much.
    Using it:
It is very fast, and actually I’ve found that if I’m a passenger in a car going 30-55mph, Pokémon spawn that otherwise wouldn’t be there due to speed limits. I can catch these manually if I’m below whatever the speed cap is. When I’m going like 40mph+ it struggles to hit stops. If you lock your phone, it actually does a better job of spinning far away stops, or spinning stops when you’re going fast.
I find that when I’m consciously playing, I don’t have the auto spinner on unless I’m doing rockets. It makes rockets so much easier to convince yourself to do, which is nice. The device has also come in clutch when real life interferes with Pokémon events.
The connection is quite good, but there are periods where the avg connection time seems to drop. I’m not sure why, or what changes but it seems to come back. The vibrating feature signaling it disconnected works, and it’s a good level of vibration (not to loud, but still noticeably if in your pocket). For a while, I had issues connecting. It wouldn’t recognize my device, and I had to do a bunch of weird things to try to fix it. The company’s support is very good, they want to help. Eventually I figured out that my earbuds sometimes interfered with the initial connection. Luckily, if I briefly disconnect my earbuds, connect to auto spinner, then reconnect earbuds, it stays reconnected for most of an hour.
It has AAA batteries, which I think I like. I use it in the winter while skiing, and it’s nice not having to worry about damaging a rechargeable battery. I’m on campus, so there’s lots to catch/spin. Therefore, I’m connected for probably 7-11hrs a day. Idrk how long the batteries last, but it’s at least 2 weeks, which is acceptable. I do use the 2 person linking more than I expected. It’s nice when doing trades, as a bonus for the person I’m trading with.
