I go to that hotel a lot in my lunch time it's sad I didn't get to see you I would have been very happy if I've gotten to see you but I'm going to be there more often till the end of summer
Beautiful Jamaica. I admit that as a person living in Kingston, I can't understand why ur so excited to come here. Least likeable part of the island for me. 🙂🤣
Excellent video. You know, it’s so exciting to see that my native land is embracing EV. Tesla, one of my favorite EVs; I wonder how many of them are on the island.
Not exactly embracing. I was in Mobay by the airport last week Wednesday and Thursday. We didn't see a single EV, even though we popped into downtown Mobay and Bogue via Fairview. Not a single EV in sight!
Also to see your real world mileage click the three dots in your menu and click energy, always use your navigation. And cruise control on the highways, the computer is more accurate than your foot on the accelerator. The energy set to 30 mile range and consumption will show you the actual range you will get based on your driving habits, fast or slow. The Energy app is not known to many but it is very accurate. Hope this helps.
There are quite a few Teslas in Jamaica including a Model S Plaid but, Tesla is NOT in Jamaica, No showroom, no service center. These are all grey market imports.
Yohan, do you know if the Jamaican government charges less on import duties on EVS. Are there any certified repair shops in Jamaica for Teslas and other EVS?
I am know there is are people starting to offer repair but it is very much limited ATM. there is some tax breaks but not much. But you can get more electric cars directly from dealers now.
So, from the ower of this car, it actually doe snot need much maintenance, he has done a few things himself. I do think there are som shops starting to pop up but it is early staged still.
I dont have to worry about range problems since my car use gas and if I run dry there are tons of gas station for me to fill up in a few mins, electric car no thank you.
To each his own, things are changing as this becomes more normal, one thing to consider, the owner has solar panels at home, he basically runs this care for free.
I got extra charge in Kingston just incase we meet traffic, I also mentioned it was a Sunday therefore it did not have the normal traffic. Sitting intraffic does not run down teh battery as much as most lightly only using AC, the motors only use power when moving, it is not constatntly running like an ICE engine.
@@YohanPartap That is correct. EVs use very little energy while sitting in traffic even with the AC on. The engineers that designed these cars use the most efficient ACs they could find so they use very little compared to the energy needed to actually move the vehicle. It is kinda hard for people to wrap their heads around this!
@@YohanPartap If you were more used to the car you probably would not have bothered with the stop at AC Hotel. With all the options along the way you could easily have taken the chance. Of course there is the nonsense of needing an account to be able to charge at the public charging stations.
This is becoming more common, of course not everyone will be able to afford it. MOre dealers locally are starting to push EVs, BYD is making a big push, so to think this is doesnot have a market is actually delusional.
@@YohanPartap u still haven't made a point pushing something and making something worth while is a different thing as a mechanic working around ev this is crap and only the disconnected ppl in our society can afford them so they will never be able to make the difference that they pushing for the average Jamaican can only afford 5 years old used cars and 5 years old ev is practically useless at that point so that = to delusion
Its not that deep, diconnected or not, there is a market for it. The larger points you are maing is not even close to what this video is about. @@marlandodaubon21

@@YohanPartap You did well!
I've got the model S plaid and I love it ❤
Nice!
Another top video
Glad you enjoyed it
You can easily make it to Mobay with 54%. I have done northern Maryland to DC and back with 56%. Easily.
yes, over cautious. Thanks for watching!

Remember, where Jamaica is concerned, if it’s egg, then we have to be in the red 🇯🇲.

Interesting, how much did you pay to charge?
AC Hotel provides this for FREE! Thanjs for watching!
Dude that's so cool. How were you able to get your hands on one?😂
It is owed by a friend, Thanks for watching!
@YohanPartap that's really cool bro. Keep up the good work.
The Tesla you have is long Range ? Dual motor
I have the specs in the discription. But Don't think its the long range.
@@YohanPartap impressive 👏🏼 mon
Are there charging ports between Kingston and Mobay, if not that's certainly needed.
There are, at Boots in Drax Hall and one other place i saw, forgot the name
@YohanPartap , great, so you were just doing a worst-case scenario test, cool😄😄
Would have been nice to see how auto pilot handles the highway....
Will not want to test that one a car that is not mine. thanks for watching!
@@YohanPartap yeah I understand
You and I have the same name cool
Cool!
Video too short bro . Give us more of the journey next time
I always feel it gets boring after some time. thanks for the feedback.
Contemplating importing one to Jamaica, where do you take it for maintenance if needed?
/
So, from the ower of this car, it actually doe snot need much maintenance, he has done a few things himself. I do think there are som shops starting to pop up but it is early staged still.
Not sure if you're still looking, but I know one for sale.
What was your average speed on the highway?
I drove to conserve, so never to fast or slow. once it read I was being efficent. I would say abput 80km but on down hills more.
I dont have to worry about range problems since my car use gas and if I run dry there are tons of gas station for me to fill up in a few mins, electric car no thank you.
To each his own, things are changing as this becomes more normal, one thing to consider, the owner has solar panels at home, he basically runs this care for free.
Having an electric car in ja really pays just imagine you probably saved about 7g worth of gas
Yes, saves alot especially seeing the owner of the car has solar, so it was free!
Did you get the latest FSD?
I am not sure, but did not test, remember this is no my car. thanks for watching!
@@YohanPartap that would be a really great video frfr! As always we love you ma'an, we enjoy the journeys you bring us on🙏🙏

Thay car not suppose to be in jamaica
Why?
I am sorry the charging is what i cant take,,,,,,,,,,its too much time
It can, there are faster changers, and the owner usually charges it at home so it is not an issue most times.
Lol 😅 Tesla n chances dont go along 😅😂
Yep, had to make sure
