Using strokes weights when you don't have an stylus but a mouse how to get the different weights I was learning to make a fish the old coloring book ones making the scales was a headache .
Great method Will! Just a quick tip - if you double click the layer with the original artwork on it you can set it to "template" and lower the opacity. This locks the layer and also keeps the artwork visible in outline mode.
I honestly have been using Photoshop and Illustrator for over ten years now and not until this video did I fully understand how easy the pen tool can be to command. Thank you so much for this!
so basically, "place the control points where the bounding box touches the shape" maybe that's obvious to many, but for me, just getting to grips with the pen tool, this is a killer tip many thanks for sharing your knowledge subbed
Thank you very much for the video, just as a recommendation it would be helpful to see what keys are you pressing when using hotkeys, I know you say it and there are CC's but I think is always helpful to have them on screen :)
I remember Von Glitschka talking about such a similar method, which he called "Clockwork method". I love this technique and it's been very helpful throughout my design career! Great video!
this is very helpful but would be nice to know what keys you are holding down to go back and forth between different tools and options (i know there are some instructions in there but what I find trickiest about the pen tool is getting "in" and "out" of it smoothly and quickly). Thanks though! this really did help alot
Yeah, whatever app shows the keystrokes on video-I think it's an app?-would be really helpful for videos like this. And I have to agree, the video was pretty brilliant.
conceptually, this in fantastic... but for example, when you say "command F" at 5:25 that is the hotkey for "find" on a mac, at least. and do you mean ctrl/cmd+v (paste)? is it on the same layer? you've lost me a bit there.
Hello maybe you can share your resources so that we can follow along i couldn't find this particular pice you are working with. kindly share. helps beginners like me
Hello bro. Paterson the one i struggling is how can i proper paid of as a logo designer or branding designer. Any tips from you? For your video very informative hope for more tips
hi I want to ask a question, when I use the pen tool what setting do I have to turn on to see how my next line is going to show before I click on the second point?
Superb method but you go a bit too fast fro example i m a beginner i dont know how to create guide or duplicate shapes ect, if you added the shortcut it would be much easier for beginner, I m going to check you writing version now to see if I see the shortcuts :-) Thanks for the tutorial!
This may sound totally dumb, and if anyone else thinks so...please be kind. I cannot for the life of me find the smooth tool in Illustrator 2020. I am completely new to illustrator and I'm old...so learning new stuff is HARD! Can anyone tell me why it's so hard to find stuff in newer version of Illustrator bc i remember some of the older places to find things, but I'm lost. Thanks!
What are you guys struggling with? Let me know down below and I'll make content to help!

The pen tool has been my worst nightmare. It has prevented me from learning illustrator. This was a fantastic tutorial

Hi
Jennifer Stark, at the end of the toolbar you will see three points (...) click on these and you can see all the hidden tools.
Indonesian
I thought this would be how to use pen tool, not "InkScribe." So, I guess the correct way to use the pen tool is to use something else?
you made this very difficult to use
