- The peace and tranquility of the Wychbold and Stoke Prior Garden Railway is rudely disturbed by a new kid on the block. He's an oily character and doesn't mind who he upsets. Unfortunately poor Toby is the victim of his cruel tongue.
Sir Topham Hatt has had a brand new shed built and he's very proud of it, but with Diesel's couldn't-care-less attitude it may not stay in pristine condition for very long.

I quite like this a lot. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a G-scale video and usually they’re silent films. Really appreciate how you utilize railway/road terminology such as the loops, engines pulling their trains backwards; aspects of fan directing that aren’t all that common. Also you do a great job with green screen, something that’s really a hit or miss technique that you hit.
Hi David. Thanks very much for your comment. It is very much appreciated.
The viewing figures for this video are very pleasing and so I've decided to make a sequel. As you will understand this is going to take some time. Its title will be Paxton and the Runaway Trucks. I've almost finished writing the story but before I can film it, I need to do some more work on the railway, then afterwards there's all of the post-production stuff. Hopefully it will be completed by the end of July. I hope you will like it.

What a wonderful story!
Thanks Justin. I dreamt up the idea over a year ago. It's taken most of the year to get the railway in shape for filming, including making the paint store. The filming and editing has taken nearly a month.

I kinda think the voices for all the chat were actually quite good, though as a Thomas fan, I do request that Toby sounds a lot older like he does in the tv series, just my opinion btw. I love this episode from Kieth Edwards, I really wanna see more from him.

I decided to use children's voices in the main to play the various characters as I felt that the film would be much more relatable to my target audience. However, you are not the first person to make this comment so I will take it on board. I would love to make a sequel to this video but I'm struggling for ideas at the moment.
@@CaverKeith why not bring in Paxton, where his role can be the new diesel to fill in for diesel, but everyone is skeptical about Paxton and think that he is just another rude locomotive like Diesel, yet really, he’s just the polar opposite and loves working with the Steam locomotives.
@@levidarling5107 Thanks very much for your suggestion. I had already decided that I would bring in Paxton as a replacement for Diesel while he is being mended. I like your idea that he has to win the other engines over but it would be great to bring Diesel back in. My idea is that he would then play tricks on Paxton but I can't think what. I also need an ending with Diesel coming to a sticky end again but again I can't think what I can make happen to him.

I loved this story. But I recommend animating the eyes on the engines. So they don’t appear as wonky in some shots

Thanks. I use a piece of software called CrazyTalk 8. I take a still from the video and import it into CrazyTalk. In CrazyTalk the lips are synced to the imported audio. The video from CrazyTalk is then imported into Final Cut Pro. The final bit is then to apply a mask and balance the colour to make it look as seamless as possible.

If an engine is rude to him, he just watches them fail, and does it correctly
Try watching the Unlucky Tugs Sodors Finest Toby (foul language warning) but it does show the real way Toby should be, from the original books Thomas came from
Some might say “He knows how to get free candy from the machine if he just hits it a certain way” -Some guy who told the Unlucky Tug
I like to think that my stories are within the spirit of the original railway series books, not what has been done to the characters since. The Rev. Awdry wanted want happens to the engines to follow correct railway procedures, not silly stories like engines getting lost in the mountains or racing each other on parallel lines.
I guess I will not be able to please everyone.

It was a fundamental mistake. When it's rebuilt I'm sure it will be placed in a much better position.

I have written the story for the sequel to Devious Diesel's Disaster and I'm hoping to begin filming it next month (July). At the moment I am busy doing some work on the garden railway in preparation for the film. I'm making a bridge for the spiral and making walls for the embankment. As soon as I've finished these jobs I can begin on the video.
Oh, and it's going to be called Paxton and the Runaway Trucks.

Why are they talking like children they’re over 100 years old
Hi. Thanks for watching. I decided to get children (in the main) to play the parts of the various characters as it is mainly children that watch Thomas videos. I felt that by using children the story would be more relatable to them. I still think it was the right decision.

If you stop and think about it, the whole concept of Thomas doesn't make sense - engines don't have faces. On top of this I was finding it quite difficult to recruit voice actors over 100 years old. 😀
@ when Thomas was young diesel engines didn’t even exist. So yes I had thought about that
