For someone I've never met, we are sure spending lot of time together... Thank you so much Becky
I found her a couple or years ago and I'm with you. I feel like she's a great teacher.
Lol for real. Just love her to death
So agree with all of you. I look forward to when my notification goes off!! Love you Becky.
I’ve been watching this RUclips channel for about a year. One of the top I watch on the regular. Becky does an outstanding job with her content!
😂 same here!
I know this may sound weird but it just makes my whole day when I see Becky. I’m disabled and live alone with my dogs. They keep me from feeling lonely but Becky feels like I’ve got a real friend! Thank you for being you! 💜
Aw I'm honored you watched them! Thanks so much
It’s not weird at all honey . She is our friend and all of Becky’s you tube family are here for you .❤
Agreed. She is a real tonic. ❤
Hey! For the spiral hair ties, once they stretch out you can put them in very hot water and they will shrink back!
After I put them in hot water I then quickly put them under cold water when they shrink back and they stay!
I love these hair ties! I have hair down to my knees so I have to put it up every night or it tries to strangle me and these were the best solution I had found. I didn't know this trick I just rotated through 30 of them and by the time I came back to the first one it was back in shape so thank you for this tip!!
You can also use a hair dryer to shrink them back and they also make thicker ones for thicker hair! I get the “power” strength ones from invisibobble and they don’t stretch out as much :)
BLESS YOU!
I paused the video to make sure someone had added this tip! Love the idea of shocking them under cold afterwards too
I think what I MOST admire about Becky is how calm and positive she is! You make cooking and baking look so easy. I really really struggle I want and need to be my biggest cheerleader. I’m so darn impressed with your positivity. I’ve said it before I’ll say it again you are such a kind gentle old soul🥰🥰
Hey Beckie, you can freeze the lemon curd. I am a Baker and I freeze mine all the time. Let it defrost at room temperature it doesn't change the texture or taste. 😊
That's good to know, I just pulled lemons and started processing, so I'll ad curd to my preservation.
@@hdavis1291 yes, put it in a food container. Before closing the lid apply cling film to contact and then close it and freeze it. 👍🏼
Thank you
The recipe is in the All New Ball Book of Canning and Preserving, page 328 It uses 6 lemons, or so, to make 2 half-pint jars. Then it is frozen. It's pretty good stuff.
Lemon curd is as much about the eggs as the lemons, Becky. It takes surprisingly little juice actually. So you may want to wait until your girls are laying more eggs! 😊
Becky, since you like Asian food, you might also shop at a local Asian market. I'm also on the West coast and we have many. It supports your local community, not just big box stores like Costco and it expands your range of food. They have LOTS of fresh noodle choices. You can make 'take out' for a fraction of the cost! ❤
I agree. There's also probably a Mexican grocer there too. I'd be going spice crazy... LOL
And, at least in the Midwest, they are super cheap!
Same for Germany, the meat and frozen fish is also super affordable and the meat and produce is always super fresh and much cheaper than the supermarket. The meat is just in plastic bags but I’ve never had a miss there.
Yes!! so much good stuff in there. I get intimidated (just cause I don't know what a lot of the stuff is and I feel out of place) when I go but I still do.
I miss my Asian markets very much. I have to get family send care packages but I miss fresh stuff!!
The ball canning book has a recipe for lemon curd, and it is absolutely delicious
Ok this is my first time commenting on your videos although I am a loyal follower of yours. Since I have started watching your videos I have stepped out of my comfort zone and have made several of your recipes. My newest venture is making homemade vanilla extract. You have so much energy and when I watch you on the weekends you motivate me to get up off my butt and stop being lazy, lol. Thank you Becky!!!
Wow that is amazing!! Thanks so much!!
No thank you.
That's awesome! Vanilla was the first thing I did. Then after a year I realized I didnt use the right bean grade and had to get the right ones. Took about a year and a half to finally be able to use it but so worth it 😊
I followed many recipes and they all said use vodka which I did. Then I saw Becky's and she mentioned spiced rum and bourbon. My mind went into overdrive with the possibilities and flavor tones that would produce! Oh my gosh! Saving up for more beans and alcohol. Budget!!! But so glad I saw that video. Holiday gifts are in my future.@@sarad2083
I have marinate chicken freezer meals. Cooked them on my indoor grill. Turned out awesome. Love watching when you do freezer meals.
Quick tip for those hair ties to save you having to buy new ones because they stretched out!
Just put on the kettle 2 cups of water and boil it. Add your stretched out scrunchies to a heat proof cup or bowl (cover with water completely) and pour the freshly boiled water on them. Then like magic they are no longer strechted out! Just take them out with some tongs or chopstics (they'll be warm) and leave them to dry/cool on a paper towel. Once completely cooled on their own they're all set to go!🎉
What a cool trick!
Wow! That is interesting. I have never heard of that. I always thought that when elastic is stretched out it will not go back to normal. I may try that with a few of mine that are kinda stretched out.
@@tammymanuel9158 it all depends on the way the elastic was formed. They specifically make these with a polymerization technique that heats to form the curls. So by reheating it puts the elastic back into place...or something like that. All I know is I saved money and get to keep using my cute hairties haha
Ummm….or wash them with your laundry like any normal person should do?
@softpencil8738 umm, who on earth puts plastic hair ties in the laundry?
I love when you take us along, it’s fun to get out of the kitchen/garden!
Homemade lemon curd is suuuuper easy. It's always in a jar in the UK, both shop-bought, artisan-made and homemade
A lil tip for the propane. If you take it somewhere that actually refills the tank you already have it's sooo much cheaper than taking it somewhere where you exchange the entire tank. We go to our local Tractor Supply Co and it's a quarter of the price than any place else in our area.
My gas station down the road from refills propane tanks and you’re right, it’s significantly cheaper.
Totally agree, I pay half as much going to a place that refills propane tanks😊
It’s fun being with you, Becky, no matter what we’re doing!
I just refreshed hoping to see a new video and here it is! Thanks for keeping me company while I cook, and put away laundry. Love having you keep me motivated friend!
I just did exactly the same 😊
Me too
I have been cleaning out areas of my kitchen..so far the pantry..spice cabinet, reorganized all my pans and baking sheets. Two boxes of donations ready to go, next will be going through my clothes and linen closet. Thank you so much for always being so encouraging
It’s been three weeks since I went to the grocery store and I’m honestly having so much fun planning meals on what’s in my freezer and pantry. Tonight I made dinner completely out of my home canned foods (except rice and fresh carrots): Cajun Red Beans and rice, corn, fresh carrots and fruit cocktail. I feel like a pioneer! 😂
We picked up 2 of the pork loins, portioned them into chops and roasts for the freezer. Such a great addition to our larder
Freeze dried ginger is amazing!
Hello Ms Becky! Think about adding Peanuts and Parsnips to your garden this year! 😊 I make sweet green corn tamales every year around Christmas. Just make sure to spread your masa thin. They freeze great too!
Peanut seeds have already been order! I can't wait
@@AcreHomesteadMy mom and I grew peanuts years ago (zone 4-5)... we experimented a lot! They took a long time to grow, but we were successful.
@@AcreHomesteadI don’t know if much citrus grows in your area Becky but something to think about… when you see lemons on sale in bulk make lemon juice/ice cubes for your freezer for future use. I have dwarf lemon, lime, navel orange and ruby red grapefruit trees in my back yard and I had so much abundance I was able to give to family, friends and neighbors! Such a blessing🙏🏼
You can also freeze lemon zest. I haven't tried to freeze lemon zest in the juice, but when you use juice, you often use zest too. This might ght worth a try.
Thank you for sharing your pantry challenge with us Becky. I am not in a place to do a pantry challenge this year as I am on a limited diet, but I love following along with all of these pantry challenge videos. Good luck!
You asked what pots and pans we use. When my 55 year old son was one year old, my husband and I bought lifetime waterless stainless steel cookware. I have always done home cooking from scratch, so my pots and pans have been used a lot. I really like them, the only other pan I use is my black cast iron, love it! Just a side note, if you burn anything in the stainless, simmer baking soda for several minutes and that really helps loosen the burnt on grime. Here’s a funny for you, I have to admit, one time I burned popcorn so bad, it took me three days to get the pot clean. No way was I going to throw away my expensive pot!
We've been under the weather and it is so nice to relax for a bit and watch this. 😌
Great,an evening spent with Becky shopping! Bonus,Becky making on of her delicious dinners! ❤❤❤
We put our grocery list on our Alexa app and it is SOOOOO easy and convenient! It also catergorizes it for us based on what we put, so the produce is listed together, non-food items are listed together, baking together, etc. It is SOO nice...and we never have to worry about losing our list.
We do this too! And I’m constantly hollering at our Echo dot to add things to the grocery list! The worst though is when the store doesn’t have good signal, so I still take a screenshot too!
I love shopping with you Becky! Such a fun day!
I just love watching your videos. I sit with an elderly friend and she does too! Keep it up!!
Hi Becky! Thank you for your videos. I’ve done so many recipes and gotten so much good info from watching you! I appreciate all your hard work! Howdy from Texas!
Just got off work when this dropped! Can’t wait to settle in at home and watch! Love watching these videos when I relax
I have to tell you that learning from you to make garlic pucks to have in the freezer has been a game changer!
I was tell some friends about it last weekend and their jaws literally dropped and they said it is a GENIUS idea!
I have the exact same story!
Last week I was in a local store. In the freezer they had a small package of garlic puck, already made. I was thrilled, and last night we had company, and I used two garlic pucks for my pasta dish. They could not stop raving about the pasta. I was thrilled. I always have a tendency to try a new dish on company and one day it’s going to backfire. So far, so good. Now, I didn’t make them, but I did get the idea from Becky. So, thanks so much.
I want to have this in my repertoire for sure. I just get excited whenever she uses them I can't imagine how much I'll enjoy my own.
My four year old son loves u Becky! This is our conversation while i’m trying to cook.
As soon as i played the video: Mama please can you sit down so we can watch her together, I like her.
Ok Honey, one second let me get this ready.
I turned around and he’s sitting down with my phone on his side of the counter, watching the video 😂
Becky, you are so real and honest in all you videos, and it makes you so approachable. After binging the 2023 garden playlist, I've decided I'm going to try to grow a serious garden this year! Just ran water to my garden so I can irrigate, got a GreenStalk, am preparing things early, I can't wait! You really make me feel like I can do it. Thanks
I have been binge watching a lot of your videos. Girl you be with me while I'm cleaning the kitchen, cooking, juicing, crocheting. You have inspired me to make home made spaghetti sauce it was adventurous for me as I'm new to the cooking game but it came out magnificent. Knowing there was no unnecessary additives or even sugar made it that much more special. Hopefully this year I can start preparing to garden! I live in south Texas so the winters are not really cold. Still have lots to learn haha. I love your videos and being able to live and eat off of my own garden is totally goals! Keep up the great videos!
Hi Becky, I love shopping with you. You have inspired me to check my Frig and pantry first then meal plan before shopping. This has saved me so much money. Thank you for sharing your tips on planning and shopping. You and your channel are a blessing.
Hi Becky, Almay makeup is made by Revlon, I used to sell it, its good for sensitive skin.
I am so glad your noodles were so good. You deserved a satisfying culinary experience after all of your hard work over the holidays. Happy New Year!!
It is just so amazing that you can adapt recipes so easy. You are doing great. Thank you for sharing. Blessings
Love shopping trips with you, Becky! ❤
I’m so excited for the tamales! Such a great use for lard.
I planted sweet potatoes last year from slips from the potatoes. Worked out great! I will definitely be doing it again soon!
I love shopping, cooking and hanging out with you Becky! Thank you!
You can put those coily ponytail holders in hot water and they’ll kinda shrink back up - you do have to do it pretty regularly but it does work, if you can be bothered to do it!
Hi Becky 👋 I love your videos they are so informative and interesting. I love to cook and garden 😊 just like you !
I got so many sweet potatoes from 1 sweet potato that I used to grow slips. I am in northern Florida and they thrive in the garden in the summer. They require little water and the greens are edible and delicious! The funny part of growing them is I kept finding more and more after I harvested originally because some grew deep in my garden boxes. It will be fun to see if I find more in the spring. I think you will enjoy the process. Thanks for your fun and positive tips and sharing your experiences.
I love how you can plan things as you go. I also love lemon curd just never have made it either.
Hi BeckyI bought that same pan in white from Costco a few weeks ago! I have and love cast iron but I really love my new pan too! Nothing sticks, it's absolutely wonderful!!❤
Hello Becky I have been using Almay makeup for years it’s a great product and very easy on the budget. I really enjoy your videos. So happy you are feeling better. Best wishes for the New Year
I switched to cast iron and stainless steel last year and OMG the difference!! It never occured to me to buy those things but my grandmother cooked in cast iron only and you'd think it would have. I'm switching my kitchen over to higher quality tools and such to save money in the long run and it's better to cook in for your health. I love that you explain why you buy what you buy and why you dont buy something. Your channel is so fantastic!!!
It's so much fun to bring up your channel and see what you're up to next!
I believe there's a recipe for lemon curd in the all new ball canning cookbook your MIL has. But it's for the freezer.
I love shopping with you!❤
It is so interesting to watch you!!! I learn things and it's neat to see how others shop, etc!! Thank you!
I have an always pan and it is great! It does not stick and I have had it for over a year with regular use. I also grow my own sweet potatoes from slips. I did this with purple sweet potatoes and orange.
This is going to sound so crazy to some, but I just absolutely LOVE you for muting the video while you did your taste test! SO respectful! Just another reason I am always all in on your videos!!
Hi Becky. As someone who suffered from dry and chapped lips for most of my twenties (I'm now 54), I'd like to tell you that I was using a minty lip balm for absolutely ages. I was then told (by a dermatologist) that you are not supposed to put anything minty on your lips as it dries them out and irritates more than most other items. Being Swedish, I moved to the UK in 1998 so could no longer buy my absolute favourite lip balm (which is Försvarets Hudsalva - if you can find it in the US, I'd recommend you buy it) but I am currently using Elizabeth Arden's 18H lip balm and also Nuxe Honey Lip Balm. I can see in this video that your lips are chapped and I also know that you made some minty lip balms for yourself (and also gifted some). Please try lip balms without any mint in them and see how you get on. X
Those are great grocery prices! Looking forward to watching your pantry challenge!!
This 50 +old Grandma has always used Almay foundation and love it been told I still look in my upper 30's but this age is fading quickly but it's not the makeup. Almay is a good product. I use a Clinique lotion underneath my foundation. I still use the same mascara as what you picked up. It also has been my favorite. Looks like your ready for no shop January! Your dinner looked delicious too! Happy New Year!!
Thanks for another inspiring video, Becky! Have a beautiful day, y'all! Happy Tuesday! 🦋🖤
Becky, I ferment quartered lemons following Seasonal Homestead’s recipe - makes amazing hummus!
I also always keep some whole, quartered and sliced lemons and limes in the freezer (bought this time of year UK when they’re cheaper). Useful to grab for drinks, fish and salsa. 👍🏻
I am so grateful for you introducing me to the pantry challenge and all of your videos really. For years I was struggling as an "ingredients household" but now I have homemade meals, snacks and desserts and more aware of and willing to try new recipes!❤
Another fun shopping day. I'm smiling contemplating the scallions on the kitchen window sill. I just cleaned up my scallions...they produce a lot of compostable dry bits that my beet top (for it's yummy leaves) enjoys. Hugs to everyone there. Jim Oaxaca
I love your videos. I actually made your pizza dough recipe a few days ago and froze the dough. I made 8 doughs. So today I decide to lay one out and bake it as an Italian loaf. It's turned out fantastic. It tasted as good as it looked.
You got this, You been preparing the last year for it.with all the yummy food you made.👍🥰
Hi Becky, thanks for your videos. You are amazing, I so enjoy watching you juggle things around the kitchen. Fabulous recipes. You are so kind and wholesome. Love the way you address us as friend. Keep up the great work you do. Also love your moms contributions to your shows. Happy New Year, may it be awesome for you and your family. Cheers 🥡🥢🥂🍾
That big bag of garlic is such a great deal! I want to suggest to you that you rough chop it in your food processor and then FREZZE DRY IT! So much easier than making frozen pucks, in my opinion. Freeze dried minced garlic is my favorite and most used item that I freeze dry! A game changer for quick meals.
I am so curious how you go about filming in the stores! These are the things I think about lol, are the interactions awkward or are they fine once you tell them they aren’t in it, etc. love your videos!
😀 Good job Becky snap shoting in the grocery list.. it does help a lot. Anna In Ohio
I grow my own sweet potato slips. I do 2 ways. One in a jar of water and the other I put in a pan of dirt with dirt covering them. I got so many slips from the planting style and faster also. Try them both ways. They grow fantastic in raised beds.
Just a tip i learned this year. For your propane refill go to a propane place and they will refill and it is much cheaper they also inspect the can
It just fair warms my heart when I see one of your videos come up..love from Lesley in Scotland. Xx
Love the scrunchie... For when they get stretched out put in extremely hot water or use hair dryer they will go back to original shape
Hi Becky, your channel was suggested to me a week or so ago. I live in a studio apartment so I don’t have a pantry, but I’m watching for cooking ideas. Also, you’re just a great person to watch!
That meal at the end looked quite delicious and healthy!! Yum yum!!
Ooh I can’t wait to see pantry challenge videos!
Usually tried and true Italian families serve seafood Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
Yes, you can return it. Almay is awesome and I've used it over 20 years.
Fantastic shopping trip; I felt like I was with you! Great looking dinner! I wonder if you can make those noodles? I hope you had a fun New Year’s party & are feeling better. Blessings to all 🤗💕🇨🇦
Becky, you totally inspired me! I made half-pints of mixed berry jam and water beth canned it to give my employees as part of their Christmas gift this year. The ones who've opened it said they loved it! So, I bought a water bath canning set and the new Ball book! Thanks for the inspiration!
Becky you are the cutest! Love your positive attitude and excitement over the little things. Thanks for always bringing smiles! Thank you for being you friend! ❤
My four-year-old and I love watching you, Becky! We talk about you like you’re a friend❤️
Love it! I have thrown away and donated sooo much stuff since the beginning of the year!
I love watching your channel grow! Can't wait to see you hit 1 million subscribers. Thank you for the amazing content 🇿🇦
Hi Becky if no one said make lemon meringue pie with the egg whites in your freezer and the lemon curd and biscuit base. Hope that helps. Thank you for the video's love watching them love Gillian Rimmer from Liverpool xxx
That quick little meal looked very tasty! I love seeing Orbit and Tibro peeking in on the videos❤. Thank you for allowing us into your kitchen! I have such respect for you and the way you protect your family from the internet! I don’t garden or preserve food but watching your channel makes me want to start. I live in southeastern Kentucky, work 12 hour night shifts but I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction to learn what I can maybe grow easily and abundantly?
When ever I have green onions I put the leftover roots into water on my kitchen window sill and they grow great. I change the water every three days or so and trim the greens as they grow. Makes me happy to reuse
Hey Becky those jalapeño cranberry turkey meat balls are absolutely delicious. I purchased them mid November. Everyone loved them. So I’m going o make them from scratch for the freezer. Love them
Can’t wait to see the putting together of cranberry turkey meatballs.
I got them too, and they were delightful! I want to try to make them myself also.
Dinner looks delicious, thank you Becky.
Happy New Year to you ,Josh and munchkin...May you have a fabulous year to come ,filled with many blessings. I think it is so much fun going shopping with you Becky , all the fun and no spending. I think Brioche buns are the best too , lots of butter and eggs , what could be bad...lol We have a fantastic baker at one of our Farmers Markets who does Brioche and the most fantastic dough nuts filled with sour cherry , apricot or plum , I buy a fantastic coffee and a doughnut every time we go to that market. I wish I had one now..yum
Two tips that will massively up your bobby pin game if you don't already know them:
1) Put them in with the bumpy side against your head. It seems like it'll be uncomfortable, but I can't feel it at all and I have a super sensitive head.
2) Try to always put your pins in so two (or more) form an interlocking X. You should feel the second one lock into place and hold the first one.
I was able to eliminate bobby pins slipping out with those two tricks. I've never tried since I haven't needed to, but I also know people who swear by spaying their bobby pins with hairspray to make them non-slip!
Hello Emily where are you from?
Good tips but alas, my super sensitive head must be more tender than yours since both of those tricks hurt me. I can only use bobby pins flat side down but mostly use snap clips alongside the spiral hair ties Becky picked up since this combo is the kindest.
@@bobr6318 Interesting, I've always found that crossing the pins relieves pressure rather than making it worse.
You have such great SELF CONTROL!!!! 👏
Cannot wait to do the pantry challenge with you this year!!
Hey Becky, in the “Notes” app on my phone I have a folder of all of the makeup products I use & their colors. Just an FYI, you can buy ANY of your products online. It’s fabulous to buy a couple of each thing & then have one in the Queue, for when you run out. I also have all of my Table Sizes listed in a folder & what size tablecloth fits each. That particular list has been a lifesaver when I come across a great deal & want to pick up a new tablecloth for entertaining. Love your content & love you 🥰 Blessings to you & your sweet little family.
The Ball canning books have a recipe for lemon curd that you freeze.
Yay Becky, I didn’t know that I need this - you always lift my spirits and walking into my work apartment after a great time with my parents (dad is 91 and every day is a gift) they plummeted - even though I like my work.
On a positive note - I raised my very own Einkorn sourdough starter and pulled the first loaf out the oven this morning - not quite right, but soooo yummy
Love your squirrel moments😊
Lemon curd in the instant pot! So easy and delicious! ❤❤
Just love a day shopping with Becky. It’s fun and joyful
Now that you're purchasing makeup on this video, it gives me the opportunity to ask you about the organic makeup that you & your mother bought last year (I think at a homesteading conference?). I'm assuming that you're no longer using it? I've been debating on trying it, but seem to keep getting makeup from a box store. So, do you still like the organic makeup (I can't remember the brand), or do you prefer what you bought today? Thanks in advance for your input. 🙂
The pantry challenge used to be about going through your stock and using up what stores you have to ensure older provisions were consumed before the expiration date and how long can you go. Now everyone is stocking up BEFORE the challenge to ensure they get through. All you are doing is buying your groceries 2 months ahead.
Yep
Exactly
That dinner looks awesome!
Hi Becky! I didn't watch as much in the summer as I don't garden but I am back now and very much enjoying your content. I am excited for your pantry challenge videos.
