I just read some comments. I cannot believe how rude some people are. Here's someone teaching some good info and even giving what he would charge, which I've yet to hear anyone do. I love when someone is confident and can teach me a thing or two. A lot of things I didn't understand but it's because I'm more of a newbie and lacking big time in the technical end of things. I can't even figure out Lightroom or Photoshop. Sheesh! Anyway, I really enjoyed Jeff Cable's presentation and I watched the whole thing even though I was looking for something else before going to bed. Thanks, Jeff!
Taking pictures is a good place to start! Once you have a nice collection of photos and x dollars of money, buy an entry level camera(or more if you have the money for it). Proceed to make money. The qualities of a photograph (great composition, decisive moment, ... etc) are much more important than what kind of camera is used to capture it. One of the greatest photos in my photography career to this date was shot when I was in 7th grade on a minolta P&S of a fisherman fishing from a lake in TW!
the most helpful photography video I ever saw. the guy is not arrogant like some other speakers can be, it's like listening to your best friend talk to you about how he shots. really great advice for anyone shooting events, thank you!
I would love to but I have no intention of going into the photography business at this time. I can't believe I actually sat through this whole video. I wasn't bored. I actually learned something. Really great stuff. Thank you.
Great presentation. I've photographed hundreds of events in over 50 countries. Many of the concepts he presents I learned by trial and error. I still learned some new things through his presentation. Thank you!
Simply Awesome training. I have just learned that so many things I already do, is WORTH IT. My wife and the family almost always fight with me saying I shoot a lot and I edit a lot. Worth it. I also learned , from your video, that I should edit when and IF they order the prints. I learned a lot. Thank you for enlightening me and and spreading the art and secrets of Photography. God Bless,
Oh my gosh, yes! Shooting a session can be very hard on the body! I get into all kinds of positions trying to get the shot I want. I probably look pretty hilarious and twisted sometimes. And a lot of times I come home pretty tired and a little sore. But it's SOOO worth it when you upload and start going through all the photos. I'm thankful for the physical activity. I'm so busy that I'll take what I can get. Ha!
I think I've watched every one of Jeff's videos at least twice. He is a great communicator with so much practical information to share. Thanks for giving so much to the creative community Jeff.
+Jeff Cable trust me first i am hearing about you and i just want to continue hearing more about you... information passed loud and clear. would love to see more tutorials from you. do you have any on location shot type of tutorial
To all: Thank you so much for watching the B&H Photo RUclips Channel and for your participation. We are very pleased that you derive value from and find our presentations useful and informative.
when watching a lot of videos, I'm bored after the first minute. On this video I hit 32 minutes before even checking how much I had watched. I was so captivated which made it really inspiring and fun to listen to, I also learnt so much. Thanks so much for the upload, glad you're doing so well. :D
Im new to photography and this video was really helpful 4 years later. Even though I want to get into concert photography I still learned a few things, thanks
Thank you all so much for watching the B&H Photo RUclips Channel and for your participation. We are very pleased that you derive value from and find our presentations useful and informative.
wow, that's a lot of knowledge in 1,5 hour to get! Thank you Jeff Cable! I am going to photograph my first conference soon and I wanted to learn something more, this video is pretty intensive but full of interesting things. You are a good teacher, post some more videos please! Greetings from Poland.
This was a very informative video!! I will look into photo mechanic. Currently I use Lightroom and Photoshoot. I didn't quite realize how important compact flash card and card reader speed is until this video. Just lots and lots of good tips. Thank you!
Thanks for your interest but at this point we don't yet have the capability to subtitle videos in Spanish. It is something we are considering for the future. Thanks for watching.
I think I am going to memorize this video by heart. This right here is game changer information the rules of which you can mould according to your own personal game play! I AM A FAN NOW MR.JEFF CABLE!
Thanks Jeff Cable, I am always interested in learning new things so I just started working with Photoshop CS6 and I ran into your video. I must say that I was hooked over 2 hours going back and forth taking notes. It's great how you go throw your whole system as a photographer, it show how confident you are in your line of work and play. You answered many questions i had and gave me alot of info that I needed. THANK YOU AND GREAT JOB!!!!
@Timmy Do , @Stewart Baird , @William Shannahan Thank you all for watching the B&H Photo RUclips Channel and for your participation. We are very pleased that you derive value from and find our presentations useful and informative.
Man you can make a 3rd job through public speaking! Great advice, great flow of the session, I didn't get bored at all, and learned a lot! Dear B&H, MOAR FROM JEFF CABLE! THANK YOU
Jeff something I leARNED ALONG TIME AGO K.I.S.S Keep it simple stupid. You didn't come out and say this but it is clearly how you work. I enjoy your video. I have been working as a pro photographer for almost 35 years with some breaks, I am60 years old the most important thing I have learned in life is you never will know all there is to know. favorite quote "Knowledge is having the wisdom to understand that learning is an endless path that is constantly taking us to the next lesson we have yet to experience. Knowledge is having the ability to recognize this." The famous person this came from was I. Russ Eastburn ESP1000 and Eastburn-Images
Dear BHP, These videos are extremely helpful. Please keep allowing us to view these invaluable contents. I feel like I am in photography class when i watch these videos; I am literally taking notes from each of your videos!
+chris shawver - Yes we do, the following link is a sort of "best of" of his video workshops and at the bottom of the link is a place to click through to his blog and Facebook pages for more info. - Yossi www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/content/we-now-present-jeff-cables-greatest-hits
+B and H Yea he is really good because i learned so much just watching and listening and also confirmation for some key points he pointed out. Love the videos you guys do, really appreciate and wanna see more.
Man you can make a 3rd job through public speaking! Great advice, great flow of the session, I didn't get bored at all, and learned a lot! Dear B&H, MOAR FROM JEFF CABLE! THANK YOU (x2)
I'm sure beginners love this video. It's full of information (great information).... on how to be a photographer. He starts out talking about being a business person but says "I'll get to that". After watching an hour of video, there's not been much info on the business side or making money at the craft. It's all been information (in my opinion) of things you should already know, how to be a photographer, and how to shoot an event. *edit jump to 1:15:00 or so. The last 20min is more the marketing / money making. Great video all together.
Jeff, You my friend redefine the prefix, "Pro!" Really... I only wish I could be your student, grip, whatever so I could learn from the Master. You are truly a pro.
This is an excellent lecture... finally someone who is talking about the reality based on experience. You are unique in that you have the personality and charisma to do this. There are many photographers who may not posses the confidence. Really enjoyed this, well done :-)
The photographer who shot my wedding put a folder for all the 'prints' (though we didn't order our prints from him, he referenced us to MPix). He included the rest of the images in another folder. It was worth it, we found a few images in the folder later that we liked and asked him to post process them.
I've been searching photographers tips for a couple of months, watching a few minutes of one, sometimes scrolling past your video, simply because it was a long one and I have a short attention span. I wish I had watched this before I had 14,000 images, alone, on one device, and I wish I had learned these marketing tips. Great info. I'm going to search for more. I actually downloaded the B&H app for android recently. I thought I'd tell you I watched this whole video and am keeping it for reference. Thank you, Jeff Cable.
Jeff is amazing. He was interesting and the video was full of such useful information. I was wanting more even though it was an hour and 40 minutes. It was also great that he validated many of the things and techniques that I do when I shoot and gave me insights to things that I will be doing going forward. Like others have said...THANK YOU Jeff.
Thank you very much, I watched it 2 times and on 3th I wrote down all your advices. I am actualy at the beginning of my photography hobby/carrier. Want to do events/ portraits/ . At the moment I do not have website, but I will figure out something. Biggest problem is to find photos in my galery I am praud of, because I still think that they are not worth to share, or put on web. Welll I have to reconsider again, trying to stay on positive way with positive energy and thinking. Thanks for video, help a lot. Sorry for my not nice English, it is not my native language.
This is better than that Jared Polin guy in his "Telling it like it is to Photography Students" video. This, by contrast, is very informative. That other guy's video is namely a narrative of himself, the photos he shot and the people he has met. It really doesn't shine any light on the business of photography as this video does. Well done.
What great videos. I was debating about whether to buy some stuff from amazon or from you guys (I admit that I know nothing and had never heard of you before) and now I am SOLD! Only buying from you guys.
I've seen better pictures taken on a phone on instagram than a newbie with a DSLR. Don't let youre camera be a barrier for creativity. One of my best photos 6 years into photography was taken with a 6 megapixel casio pointshoot.
The Sigma 85 1.4 he mentions dam well should be an amazing lens for the money at almost a thousand bucks ! The canon 85 1.8 ranks right up there with it for about a third of the price. Also: I am beginning to realize that to be a pro photographer is not as much about skill (while yes a certain amount is a must ) but it's more about confidence and just presenting yourself to people as a pro. I see a lot of "pros" who's work is good, sure; but not beyond what amateurs can do a lot of the time.
Hey Jeff. Please come to Portland and do a photo seminar! Or better yet, come here and offer a week-long class!! Pro Photo Supply loves to host pros like you and I'd love to work with you directly!

Seriously? Thank YOU for uploading such an information filled hour long presentation like this all for free! You are a noble man!

Great video by Jeff. It was like he was reading my mind. He addressed many of the questions I have about being a successful event photographer.
The photographer who shot my wedding put a folder for all the 'prints' (though we didn't order our prints from him, he referenced us to MPix). He included the rest of the images in another folder. It was worth it, we found a few images in the folder later that we liked and asked him to post process them.
Soo knowledgeable and very articulate. This video is amazing for progressing my thought process while shooting. Thanks for posting.

Tx, I think I'm ready for bar mitzva
great video. everything Jeff says is worth listening to....
Great video Jeff Cable. Thanks for sharing.....
Great seminar! How much one has to know to do this for a living is a little daunting though.
The Sigma 85 1.4 he mentions dam well should be an amazing lens for the money at almost a thousand bucks ! The canon 85 1.8 ranks right up there with it for about a third of the price.
