Perry: how come that camera manufacturers don’t make round sensors? Wouldn’t it make sense as the image projected from the lens is round? Is it because of manufacturing costs? Thank you!
This does not happen for several reasons: 1. During manufacturing, the individual chips can only be cut straight out of the wafer. 2. Normally displays are rectangular, round images don't make sense there. 3. Image processing is based on line and row addressing of pixels. A round image(sensor) would complicate this significantly.
