    Even with shaving off the extras and sizing down the additional load. The basics of just raising a kid by standard of “what a adoption agency would qualify as okay” is still extremely expensive in today’s economy for one child yet alone more. The basics are basically a lot. More than two children seems unattainable on a average salary but for basics - I currently have one and feel the slight turmoil is a lot more than he is projecting. Kids are a lot more work than the doe eyed parent initially realises- I don’t think having more than one lightens the load of emotional and mental stress.

    Starts with anecdotes, jumps to pop science. Why do those people exist in academia?

      he starts with anecdote to warm people up to the idea emotionally, then jumps into the hard data which is the actual evidence proving the point
