For future reference, unless a kit SPECIFICALLY says otherwise, putty is supposed to be placed under the ring of the drain to form a seal, which is why there were remnants of putty there to begin with, putting it on the bottom of the drain does nothing.
Thank you!
Thank you for the video. My father was a plumber and us girls never had to worry about anything at home when it came to fixing but now that he is gone :( and I did not get to learn from him everything he knew, your video was a great help in this time of need. Thanks again!
I'm glad this helped!
RIP to a great Pops!

This video is awesome!! I couldn’t find any of the plumber’s tools you used here. The link you left was a double of the strainer. It also looked like you had two or three different tools? Any way you can drop a link? Either way, THANKS!!
I'll see if I can find links, thanks for watching
@@Myksgarage Thanks! I actually already got the assemblies from Amazon. I put a couple of other assemblies in a couple of years ago without the tools, and with plumbers putty, and after about a year, it started to leak. I want to give it a shot actually using the correct tools. I appreciate you my friend...
Always thought both those basket went underneath. Hey I am no big rich plumber.
Yeah me either

You ALWAYS clean sealing surfaces.
Yes
You did not clean the bottom of the sink or tighten before you connected the pipe so It would not spin?
🤷
I just did this nearly exact repair on my kitchen sink. I'm no plumber, and this was easy! Like $17. I'm curious though, how much would an actual plumber charge for this repair?
I would guess like $250-$300
What's the name of the tool you use to tighten the ptrap?
It's this:

@@Myksgarage thank you 🙏
Rubber gaskets should go inside the sink when installing
👍
I tried flex seal underneath. Phil swift let me down
Thanks for sharing
Looks like the plastic one failed because you tried using putty instead of a rubber gasket🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Yeah exactly
Reason I'm here is I just replaced a plastic one that I used putty on last time. Lasted 29 years. Putty still wasn't leaking, the basket developed a pin hole.
