In 1974 when the hydrofoil The Flying Sandpiper ran this route, it was featured in the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun, where Bond tailed a delivery of golden bullets.
If you go forward and look over the side you can see the skis or foils. I have also been on a Russian hydrofoil from Saigon to Vung Tau on the Mekong. She has to stop and reverse sometimes to get the water hyacinths off the ski's.
Dear Sir. I recently watched with delight, your hydrofoil trip across Hong Kong harbour on the Flying Sandpiper. I drove a virtually identical hydrofoil to this for over three years and to this day love seeing them in action. I wondered if you had any more footage from Hong Kong of the foils, or indeed from anywhere else?
The name of the company running the boat journey across Kowloon Harbour was The Hong Kong - Macao Hydrofoil Co. Ltd. The name of this company's hydrofoil that James Bond and Andrea Anders take a boat ride on was the Flying Sandpiper.
wonderful clip about hydrofoil interior, and cruising, thank you so much
this is so wonderful
GREAT!!
Boeing 929 is Jetfoil and dis is Rodriguez PT-50 Hydrofoil :)
I was the sailor on Hydrofoil Catamaran "PENHA". Compare to this Hydrofoil, it's still really fast.
Actually it is a Rodriguez RHS 140.
I don't think that is really a hydrofoil. The only hydrofoils are the Boeing 929s. I am not sure what ferry this is.
