- I was getting ready for Part 2 of my Watermelon Brandy and realized I could make a quick video out of my cleaning my equipment, so did this video first.
There are many different ways on the Internet, this is just my way.

Thanks for sharing this information 👍
Great video. Never thought to use a tub like that but it’s far better than a laundry sink which can leak overnight. My copper dome has way more patina on in than yours ! Look forward to cleaning it up soon. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it Ian..... For ages I have been using a shallow plastic container and turning the dome around multiple times to clean. Finally the Penny dropped and I bought a new deep bin. The sad thing is I have been using these for years but had not connected them to Distilling.....
Another Great video cant wait to see this pot still in action😃
Hey Slosho83, I am using this Pot Still for a Stripping Run in Part 2 Watermelon Brandy that I hope to be completing this coming weekend.
@@pauljacobs5390 ok that's great look forword to seeing you're results😃 and thanks for the reply...🙂
Hey good to see you back ,citric acid is the only way to go ,good info to share
Hey Dave, I have been back since Nov 2020 and have done 9 vids since.... RUclips tends to skip things occasionally. Glad you like my vids mate....
@@pauljacobs5390 I'll have to keep a check on my notification because some RUclips's are not getting the notification through, any way all the best
I am quite at odds with RUclips with how they do stuff.... Intend making a Vid about this in the near future.
Hello mate,
Would you do a video on how to use the AlcoEngine Copper Pot Still Condenser I see you've got there? (connected to the boiler, water hoses, the lot)
Believe it or not, not one video about how to use that particular type of condenser connected to a T500 boiler or any other type of boiler can be found on RUclips or anywhere else. You'd be the first.
Thanks
Agreed. I have not seen much at all about either of the AlcoEngines, except for Kee at Kegland. -Andrew.
Beginning you state 350g citric. End you state 35g. For your viewers, which is it please? I do a similar process, however add equal amounts of course salt as citric acid and thoroughly dissolve. The process works equally well on stainless steel. I purchase 1kg bags of citric acid from Amazon - much more economical and never expires. Cheers.
With your pot still do you filter the finished product through carbon or you just drink the hearts straight from the still🤔
I use it to clean my copper mesh in reflux column also
Yeah, pretty versatile stuff. What was surprising to me is that it was not widely known when I started in this hobby.
nice tip
Happy to oblige HerrWayne45..... Hope to have Part 2 Watermelon Brandy published this weekend.
More info on where you got the laundry hamper please, they could be useful for no end of purposes. I have never seen anything like that.
Hey Percy, I bought it from Big W in Queensland Australia. There is also lager versions available from other stores (other than Big W)
@@pauljacobs5390 Thanks mate, that's good news, I do have access to a Big W (just), so will check it out next time I'm up there. Cheers.
At 0:38 350 grams?
Would u say same for stainless steel?
Need same rinsing as vinigar?
What is the recipe per litre for the cleaning solution?
Near enough is good enough. If you put in a little Citric Acid, check the copper regularly and when it is clean take it out.
If you put in a lot of Citric acid it will be ready sooner.
It also depends on how dirty your copper is.
Best answer is any amount will do the job if you are prepared to wait the required time....
