I encourage you all to continue praying for the Church and its leaders, for they are human and are prone to errors just like us. Your faith should be in Christ and not the leaders of the Church! Why should you leave the Catholic church because of someone else's sin??

The people that are in charge of the parishes in Buffalo were the people put there to block any endeavor of faithful Catholics to evangelize and rebuild the diocese. I left to find teachings to help our efforts only to discover these same people were the financially paying for the exploitation and abuse of the Church, her clergy, and her financial resources. The scandals basically were financed by these people. It’s the lay leaders that were in place that hurt diocese so so much for that experiment.

We know the Church will survive. The Church needs money. Bills need to get paid, employees need to be paid. Catholics are some of the worst when it comes to donating money. People forget about the business side of church affairs. I have the same issue with the SSVP. People want to just give everything to everyone and spend all the money because “God will provide” and outcome exceeds income, and come October and November we’re engaging in creative finance stressed out trying to make sure that cheques won’t bounce and we’re panicking for donations and having to cut down on helping people and turn people away because we have no money. It was even worse when the food pantry was run by the parish, which allowed them to rack up a deficit.

Over 60,000 dollars just to hear the Church in our 10 months of cold. Then when they don’t get their way they block the collections. Then they cry when we report, hey the utility company shut off the power we can’t afford the place. I had no choice but to help write the proposal to sell our own school building. Either that or no sacraments. You guys forced this decision!! Who takes the hit of abuse??? We do the the Church the people sacrificing our lives for you. The only thing the people on the altar receive is the exploitation and abuse from the people in the pews. I spent everything I had on Catholic education to serve these people and these same people did everything they could to hurt me. It’s an extremely cruel situation.

I have classmates and friends who now are retiring due to stress, exhaustion and depression. In the last quarter of this year 3 American bishops retired before their 75th mandatory retirement age due to illness or exhaustion. For those who are calling for a married or female clergy, please refer to the Anglican and Lutheran communions that already allow those groups to be admitted into ordination and you will see they are far worse that we are presently doing.

@@redsandrock8073 the Bible itself is not the Word of God. It’s an account of the Word of God. The Word of God is a person: Jesus Christ, the Word made Flesh, Who dwelt among us. The only ones who believe that the Bible itself is the living, breathing, Word of God are Protestants. For 2000 years, the Church has taught that it’s not the Word of God, but merely an account of the Word. You can also tell that person that there are texts whose authorship we are not certain about. Even some of Paul’s letters we aren’t sure if they were actually written by Paul. It’s very possible it could have been a woman writing in Paul’s name in order to add greater authority to the letter, a practice which was very common at the time of the New Testament. Not that that should matter whether it was all only written by men anyway. Sounds like she has had some major personal problems with men, for which she is in dire need of healing.

Covering the costs of sexual abuse is very expensive! Why aren’t people looking to their local parish and pastor for solutions? Much can be done on a local level and the laity in the parish. Start ministries and evangelize at your parish. You cannot blame the Bishop for lackluster RCIA attendance. Unfortunately, secularism is everywhere. Blaming the Bishop is not a proactive approach. Form a committee at your parish to think of ways that will encourage Mass attendance such as a simple coffee social after Mass. Search the internet to see what other parishes are doing. You may get an idea that will work for your parish. The church needs to remain financially stable in the midst of any crisis and that is the responsibility of the Bishop. But the laity can do much to improve the conditions on a local level.

Since when did the Catholic Church become like these independent evangelical protestant churches where the parishioners can judge and then hire and fire the ministers? The Catholic Church has a hierarchy where people like the Cardinal (in this case Cardinal Dolan), have authority over the bishops and can report to the Holy See or the Pope if he sees any issues or problems with a particular bishop. The Church governs within itself.
As for their being no catechumens for Easter, would not the pastor of the individual parishes bear the most fault and/or responsibility?

I don't know why parishioners are so attached to brick and mortar when the true Church is flesh, blood and souls. Would parishioners rather the Church go bankrupt? These civil suits are costly. The devil has been at work and the damages he made are vastly egregious. When the shepherd's hired hands are wolves in hired hand's apparel the work force that is left is few and the ruins the wolves have made to the folds and pastures must be justly restored. Some pastures must be sold to fund the repairs needed at the same time better efficient use of the work force may be employed. It's a painful process not only for the sheep but the shepherd. Remember who our enemies are, Satan and his demons not the shepherds. Striking the shepherd further makes the sheep scatter. We need solidarity in times as these. A common enemy creates aliances among the embittered factions. Satan is the common enemy. Let the Church stand united defiant towards the devil the defiler.

  • @user-vi8dh8kq8y
    @user-vi8dh8kq8y Месяц назад

Declining attendance is a problem all over, and it's primarily due to the Church being perceived (please note the use of 'word "perceived") by increasing numbers of people as irrelevant to their lives. It's problems are manifold and its just piling on to try to blame any person for a problem that has been created by the Church itself and been in progress for several decades.
Second, given the widespread abuse scandal within the Church, and the number of victims involved, spending $15 million just to settle claims is a pittance, and you can bet more is going to be paid. So, again the money this parish has to pay out is hardly set by the Bishop (it's a court thing), nor is the pace of legal proceedings, unless the Church is dragging it out.
Third, it would be ridiculous to blame for Fischer for the shortage of priests, if that is what is being said. The complaints on fewer masses were somewhat foggy.
So, you can't fault Fisher for for declining attendance or costs for a scandal that was not his doing. However, if indeed there is no work at all being done on evangelization, that is a matter that needs to be corrected ASAP, and I'm sure the Pope will check into that.

This is a global problem. What is lingering among the clergy is remnants of Feudalism, Crusades, Inquisition, Colonialism, the Galileo episode, slavery in the USA etc. Their formation gives greater focus on "administration" rather than spirituality. As a result "clericalism" is widespread among the clergy.
To overcome this problem a few changes are required in their formation.
    1. Renewal of the mind (Rom. 12:2). One must think right to practice right.
    2. 40 day fasting prior to ordination. This will eliminate a lot of "attachments".
    3. Deep spiritual cleansing and sanctification during formation.
    4. Focus on spirituality.

this is not at all the issue. These things do not at all linger in our communities and there is no proof of that. This is simply personal error and a lack of general focus on spirituality. My diocese (Diocese of Austin) is very well focused on such, but I agree with your solutions, just not what caused it. The catholic church was against slavery, we did not commit any "inquisition" we sent peaceful Jesuits to evangelize, and Galileo was working under the church institution teaching the wrong theory (heliocentrism) which is still wrong by today's scientific standards.

You must be joking. "Clericalism" is the problem? The attitude of the clergy today couldn't be more anti-clerical. Most parish "ministries" are ran by liberal lay women. Modernism abounds. Catechism is a joke. The post-Vatican II mindset has been an absolute disaster. Your comment sounds like it was written by a chatbot programmed by a leftist. Feudalism and the Inquisition? That's what you're reminded of concerning the modern clergy? I'm shocked that someone could see reality as so perfectly inverse of what it actually is.

Instead of complaining about the Bishop, the faithful should demand better vetting of the Seminarians wanting to be Priests. No Church should be as lacking as the Catholic Church. These seminaries and the priests who were instructing these students knew very well that many of the potential priests had sexual problems but chose to look the other way.

Guess what, I left the Norvus Ordo 24 years ago. I went to tradition and started attending the SSPX.
Been there ever since. We have plenty of vocations and strong well trained new Priests being ordained every year.
Our parishes are well attended and our schools are not closing. Lots of young families coming into the traditional faith. Our families have lots of children, some have double digits.
I dont live in the Buffalo area now, but I started my journey (with God's grace and the help of our Lady right there in Buffalo. I attended Our Lady of the rosary SSPX chapel.
Having come from the Norvus Ordo and a once Catholic family I have seen both "faiths". The only siblings who haven't lost the faith are in tradition and the Laton Mass. The others like all my neighbors who grew up in my once Catholic neighborhood have all lost the faith.
The rotten fruits of the new Mass are evident everywhere you look. By your fruits you shall know them.
Go back to tradition and save your soul, or stay in the new church and wallow in its long decaying death.

Your anecdotal observations don't match the statistics. From what I've read, the "Traditional" Latin Mass traces its roots back to the 7th century and was standardized largely by the Council of Trent in the 16th century as a reaction to Martin Luther's rebellion.
During the Roman Empire, Latin became the common language among inhabitants. As that fell apart and over time, only the educated (i.e. upper classes) were learning it. By the 1960s, this language was no longer taught to young children and very few older than them knew it. Most importantly, the laity had lost the historical perspective and thus meaning behind the rigid ceremonial rituals. That is why the 2ndVC attendees thought it was very important to make changes including returning to the common language of local laity.
Published statistics do not show this change caused any drop let alone a significant one in attendance/membership. They also do not show the Latin Mass has been attracting a significant number to attend. I've yet to cross paths with anyone who joined or left the Catholic Church over the (un)availability of the Latin Mass. Over time, number drops coincided with some sort of societal shock like occurred with 'Rona. It has been happening simultaneously in Catholic and Protestant Churches.
Suggest adding this lie you've been repeating for probably decades to your confessional list. If you do not understand fully all the words and the historical meaning for all the rituals, suggest adding that you've been insulting the Lord every time when attending Latin Mass.

I recommend that the faithful take several steps back, some deep cleansing breaths and consider that asking that a so-so bishop be removed might leave them much worse off. (What if the Pope sent Wilting Gregory to Buffalo?)
The faithful need to enroll a major portion of the parish families in grass-roots efforts to fill the pews; fill the adoration chapels; and attract "on fire" priests to come minister to them!
And above all, it seems that many members of the parish (from the bishop to the occasional "bench warmer" have resisted the Holy Spirit's call to be submissive. jus' sayin'

It's easy to complain about a bishop when Catholics are leaving in droves. It's happening all over the country, especially in the Northeast. The only person interviewed, described as a missionary, complains about how few new people are.comkng into the Buffalo Church. He's a MISSIONARY! Why hasn't he brought any in. Also, if he's operating as a missionary in the Diocese, he's serving at the behest and direction of the bishop who is the object of his scorn. I suspect the people opposed to the bishop are out of touch with the reality of the Catholic Church in the USA and the hard decisions bishops are forced to make.
