I replaced the catalytic converter in our 2002 Chrysler T&C about 8 years ago, using one from RockAuto (CA/NY model). The old one has been sitting in my garage since. Where can I recycle it? Must be worth something since criminals steal them. I tried one web site, entering info, but they never replied. Most recyclers here won't accept them, assuming you are a thief.

I have recycled an old catalytic converter several years ago. The recycling place took my license info but accepted it and paid pretty well.

@Tracker-Pete Thanks. I gave the converter to a repair station near me gratis a few weeks ago. Great guys. I once had them remove old tires to store the wheels and they didn't even charge me. Do all repairs myself but if my hands give out someday I'll use them. Web places required the original receipt for the new converter, no longer in Rock's database. Local recycle yards said they no longer accept them. 900 cad is an amazing price. My 2002 is still somewhat affordable new ($563 on Rock for CARB, $253 for 48 states). For my son's 2015 base Prius, Rock doesn't list and find $1800 to $4572 elsewhere (dep on VIN). My old Mopars and M-B diesel which don't require emissions are looking good.
