This was my favorite Batman toy of all time. They have never made another 6 inch scale representation like it. A complete anomaly for toys in the 90s. I'm going hunting for this now. Thanks Brad!
I just bought the batman forever electronic batmobile completely for 12 bucks with about 6 figures and 2 smaller vehicles all circa 1994 what a steal!!!!
wow this really brings back the old memories brother.....newer trashy toys these days cant even compare to these old schools toys now. miss the great old days. times really flys
my all time favorite Batmobile Toy, i remember being SO FREAKING HAPPY GETTING THIS, and then a few months later, went to visit family across the country in Michigan, and i left it there, halfway back and 700 miles in, i started freaking out telling my mom and dad to turn around because i left my batmobile (they didn't😢) I'm still pissed off until this day and 25 years later!!! THE ABSOLUTE BEST TOY EVER!!!! The good thing is I've still got all my Kenner Dark Knight Collection figures, and my Kenner Batman Returns figures as well, over 20 figures all mint, because most i had to buy again, but this car has reached outrageous prices, i just cant make my mind up, that's alot of money to shell over for an old toy car
A friend of mine got this one back in the day and I got the chance to play around with it a lil' bit; I do agree that it was impressive how movie-accurate they managed to make it, second only to that Hot Wheels scale replica released a couple of years ago.
The batmobile that got away. I must say this a very impressive Batmobile and great review 👍 My Batman collection is small but humble: Both Mafex Batman figures from the Dark Knight,Ben Affleck Batman,Both Dark Knight Jokers, Neca Michael Keaton Batman and an old Identity Crisis 🦇 back when Mattel used quality plastics.
Fond memories with this and the Returns versions. I made my first friend because he had the same batmobile. But dang, this toy still holds up and looks even better than I remember! Edit: That multiverse Batman looks awesome with this!
The spring that pushed the exhaust flames on mine always jammed up. It was caused by the buttons on the trunk getting stuck. This in turn, due to connecting to the back wheel, it would't always rotate completly. After MUCH playtime of me pushing down hard to get the wheel to turn, that caused my batmoble to LITERALLY loose it wheel. Once fixed, it rolled much better, but the wheel would eventually always roll off it's peg. Everyday the batmoble would loose its wheel. You know tbe rest! :-) Now thats a play feature! :-) my dad even made a santa hat for joker come Christmas. Come the following easter, he hid my robin in a plastic egg. :-) I looked at my dad "thats what you call a running gag" he exclaimed in his best/worst jack Nicholson/joker voice. I actually liked 4 things about the toybiz one more. 1- its a two seater like the movie 2- it had that little plastic bit rub against the wheels to imitated jet engine noise. 3- plenty of trunk space for all the bat-gadgets (that ironically Kenner would produce the folloing year) 4- the plastic cocoon like "sheilds" seen in both Burton Films.
Those are some great points you make there. That easily tearable cocoon was awesome, but arbitrary. I would never use that on a display or anything. (But it is great for keeping dust off of the car, so I'll give you that!) The 2 seats are definitely better, but now with the cockpit you really don't have to see how many seats there are. Sound effects really irrelevant. We're talking 80s/90s toys here with wheels on pegs that squeaked no matter what. Trunk opening was cool, but it never opened in the movie and I had no accessories to think to put in it, so it was truly useless. I have to say this version blows it away just for the extra mechanical details on the panels alone.
Amazing! I was able to find a Batman Returns Batmobile for a good price a few years ago locally. And I felt lucky because it's a Batmissle version that I wanted.
I still believe that this version and the subsequent Batman Returns (BatMissile) version of the Batmobile remain the all time best versions....and I grew up during the original TV series Batman era. I have a few of these (boxed and loose) in my collection as well. Kenner and the Keaton era will alway be my fav.
i am egyptian and i am 26 years old the new kids dont understand how cool this toys when we are kids this toys was all we got then i had a super man bike when i was a kid and it was my favorite toy and of course the bb ak 47
Great review! Your review really helped me fix something that had annoyed me about my Kenner 1989 Batmobile for a long while. I bought mine on eBay in 2013 but one of the roof hinges was broken. I always had the canopy kind of resting on the Batmobile but was afraid it would fall off if I tilted the vehicle. Just watched your review and realized the canopy can fit snugly so it won't fall off (despite the broken hinge), plus it looks way better that way. This was always my favorite Batmobile toy and I like it a lot more after fixing the canopy issue, thanks to your review! :-)
I didn't even know this one existed when I was a kid. I had the Batman Returns Batmobile & it was the most exciting birthday present I ever got. My parents had to call multiple stores to locate one.
I picked up a early Batmobile. There was also a playset that had a bat computer, the head that flipped up and revealed the red button, and the red Bat-phone. The figures were sculpted after the 60's series Adam West Batman, and they came with a stand and a name card. The Joker, the Penguin🐧, the Riddler, Catwoman, and of course Batman and Robin. The Batmobile is the one from that series and it is sweet. I got all of the figures and the Batmobile for $70.00 off eBay. I had the Batman Wayne Manor accessory set. I had gotten that from Toys R Us on clearance for $14.99. There is also "the Wall" so you can do the Batman and Robin walk up the side of a building when they'd see guest stars. It's one of my favorite Batman figure collections. I also have the Movie line that came with a Build a Bat Signal. It works PERFECTLY. Turn it on a you have a Bat on your ceiling or wall. Its awesome plus the figures look incredible. Granted that set is new compared to the Keaton Batmobile, but the set is still awesome.
I love the Toy Biz and Kenner Batman figures and vehicles back in late 80's and early 90's. I have the Toy Biz Joker Cycle with Sidecar that can shoot off the cycle to become it's own mini vehicle it's just so cool. I also the Joker Cycle by Kenner which was more of a chopper style cycle with a Joker face on the front that could be shot off the cycle. The toys from back then we're really awesome they bring back such great memories. Thanks for the video and have a super day! 😎👍
I also have it! With box as well. It was in plastic and unassembled when I got it. I didn’t apply the stickers though, I was afraid they wouldn’t stand the test of time. I have Crime attack Batman now, but didn’t when I got the Batmobile (3 years ago) I also used the Multiverse Batman, he does fit better. Cool review! Also, good luck finding it under $100....more like $150-200😉Man I loved this as a kid, I had to have it again, best Batmobile toy ever!!!
I always like this batmobile the best n the tv show batmobile too the other ones r ok but this one always been badass to me I hope they bring it back in upcoming batman movies 😎😎😎😎
Had that one, the Super Powers version & the Batman Forever one that lit up in mint condition! Sadly when i moved out of my parents house in 96 they got thrown in the trash! Im still bummin over that!
It is hard to find but you still could find it you want us to get it is the bat missile from Batman Returns that is a crown jewel at anyone's collection
I still have this MIB from my childhood. I liked the Toybiz one better because it could fit Robin and mine came with the cocoon that goes over the whole car.
Dude! I have both the Toy Biz Batwing and the Turbo Jet Batwing from Kenner. I also have the 89 kenner batmobile reviewed in this video... Love these items and will never sell on ebay haha :) good job finding these toys buddy!
You know, I remember getting mailed the first release along with the Batcave and like you mentioned, as a kid I always felt it lacked and that open cockpit annoyed the hell out of me. I think it even had Bat symbol stickers on it. Even as an 8-year-old, I was a stickler for accuracy, but that really hardly existed with toys at that time. I had the Joker cycle, the Bat Copter and Jet and I knew some years later they re-released the Batmobile with the correct cockpit. But by that time my parents never would have bought me a second Batmobile. But I never realized just what a step up in quality this was! I may have to look for it. I guess it goes without saying here that the NECA figure would never work with this haha.
I always wanted that Batmobile as a kid. It's definitely a better Batmobile than any other Batmobile that has come before and after it. It is the definitive Batmobile.
Another great vlog, Brad, thank you. I too have a very good condition Super Powers. I'm curious if you were aware of the Batman Returns camouflage version. I found it years ago, maybe early 2000's, at a comic show at a small mall. I think I paid under $50 new unboxed, still had the taped flaps. It's the same Batmobile but with snow-like camouflage all over the body. There of course was an Arctic-Tech Batman of some sort too. I think the snow covered Batmobile could be the rarest of all the Kenner Batmobiles (I have them all). Do you agree?
I've got that one. I actually bought it new. This one is very cool. I even have the box. I was bummed because only one figure fit in the cockpit. I always preferred the Super Powers one. I'm more of an old school gray/blue Batman guy.
That Super Powers Batmobile is legendary. I’ve got one but I really want a case fresh one to open for the channel. I wish the 89 seated 2 as well. A Vicki Vale figure would have been perfect in the passenger seat or even that rad Tim Drake Robin they made for Batman Returns. 😉
I remember having either one of these as a kid, can’t recall which but the Batman that it came with or was separate but bought at the same time had a grappling hook on a little string something broke off of it when I thought It would be a good idea to turn off the bedroom lights and throw Batman across the room as if he were flying in the dark night skies, and yes he unfortunately landed onto the car and broke maybe the hatch or something and I was left devastated. Then later down the line the whole thing disappeared which I didn’t notice at the time as much as I did a matchbox vw beetle that also went missing. I search for it for days but it was gone. it became clear to me as an adult that my mum used to “thin out” the toys as there were three of us brothers so lots of stuff about.
This was a great review. What I learned from it is that the Kenner Batmobile you reviewed is actually too small for the 4.5-inch line it was released with. It is actually in scale with 4-inch figures, because the cockpit is way too small. Very interesting!
My cousin found one of these NIB at a yard sale about 3 or 4 years ago. Some lady cleaning out her house was selling it. She told him she probably bought it as a present once and just forgot about it. I believe he got it for around $20. He sold it to a collector that owned a comic book store for $150.
This was one of those toys I wished I had for SO long haha. I had the Batmissile version from Batman Returns, but I loved that this one had the flame out the back and the machine guns. Loved seeing this video, man. I did a whole Batman figure retrospective a few years back where I go through all my old toys, that was a blast to revisit all the old school stuff.
I had the one from the toybiz line never had this one. Funny thing about the Batcycle of this line is it is a retooled motorcycle from the Robocop toy line same with the Joker cycle
Great video! I passed on buying this back in the day. What the hell was I thinking? The secondary market price has always been insane but finally, I managed to get one in excellent condition during the lockdown reletively cheap. So lucky! I plan to mod it out with lights and yes, I do have the multiverse Batman figure to go with it.
I never had THIS version as a kid....I had the KSP Collection BM and the '89 movie BatMobile and I know what you mean about it's lackluster feel.....I in fact later traded mine for the G.I. Joe Bridgelayer to a kid down the street. I had that weird Golden Batman too....and I think I had a Batman flying something? It looked like a black nerf football and opened to fit a figure but had a grappling hook? Maybe tiny, tiny wings? BUT my FINAL Bat-Purchase as a kid was my FAVORITE from this era....the Bruce Wayne Custom Coupe....it came with a very Michael Keaton resembling Bruce Wayne fig that had a snap on mask and chest piece and snap on boots. And of course Bruce drove the coup BUT IT HAD THE HIDDEN compartment that contained Batman....a flick of the wrist and Wayne was gone and Batman was in charge! Awesome car!
Absolutely!!! Still trying to make my missing tail fin and center turbine. Also i didn't know it existed until i bought it on eBay 10 years ago. Its the best. Also try 300 not complete anyway
I have several different batmobiles, some I bought myself and my cousin has given me.Ihave several different colors of the original tv cars and I have a few from the movies plus a boat, the original copter,a picture of the original car and I have one version of the Joker van (small)taco bell cup, MacDonald cup and many others and a poster from the movies
The one thing missing on this was the plastic cover “shields” that the Toybiz one had, that was a good feature. Dark Knight Collection was far superior however.
Great toy! The Toy Biz is only let down by the lack of roof, the two seat design is far better than the Kenner version, but Kenner wins every time for being closer in look!
Great review! I just found my one with the original box. Sadly missing the inside cardboard, would really appreciate if you could send me a pic of your one so i could make a new template?
Guessing that the missile launcher on the front is to represent how the bomb dropped off of the front when the Batmobile blows up Axis Chemicals. They just made it a bit simpler.
Oh god no, not that chubby-faced Batman figure again! That thing used to have me so vexed as a kid because he looked so weird... But I loved this vehicle. I loved/wanted it so badly that I can't remember whether I had this one or the crappier one, I just know that I mailed in payment for one of them one time and it never ever arrived.
So you mailed in a payment for one that never reached you lately from eBay or was it in the past as a kid? That would suuuuuuck to pay today’s prices for this and not get it and be stuck with your eBay refund and no Batmobile.
I get the feeling the whole dark knight collection line is basically kenner's way of rubbing toybiz's face in it- when they acquired the license from them. They put so much attention-to-detail into the figures (and especially the batmobile/batwing) that made it such all so popular line. Then and now. Unfortunately what happened after that the Batman movie figures seemed to go down hill after Batman Returns. A lot of BR is pretty much a repaint. The batman forever batmobile is cool and all- what with the light-up cockpit- but the proportions are a little wacky. And the batman and robin batmobile is really just a bunch of stickers. Plus they stopped sculpting underneath the car, and giving it a steering wheel after batman returns.
was a good video, umm ive never seen that one i know about the one with the open top. i didnt have these as a kid so as an adult id like to. where did u happen to find that one? if u dont mind
Nicholas ComicFan the real joke is Multiverse character selection. It's a real Crisis I tells ya. Just not the good kind. Instead of worlds dying, the only thing getting killed is my interest.
I know what you mean. Why haven’t they given us a red hood or (this may be just my interest but...) a classic original costume Kyle Rayner. It is a joke.
RE Proof of Purchase, sometimes companies like Kenner would run promos to send otherwise unobtainable products if you mailed in your proofs. I got a blue ninja GI Joe with a hover boat this way.
I think the keaton batmobile is the ultimate batmobile and will always be
Me too!
Sorry it's the '66 Batmobile for me. Wasn't a fan of the camp, but the car was and still is my personal favorite. With the '89 Batmobile a tight 2nd.
The slick look and design of the Animated Series one (and the toy!) is definitely a *close 2nd!*
Andrew Fowler thank you! 👏👏👏👏👏

I wore this bad boy out when I was a kid. I still have it in my grandma’s attic. Still has all the parts.
This was my favorite Batman toy of all time. They have never made another 6 inch scale representation like it. A complete anomaly for toys in the 90s. I'm going hunting for this now. Thanks Brad!
I remember having this Batmobile when I was 5... Played with it until it's been destroyed lol. But was upgraded to the Batman Forever Batmobile lol
I just bought the batman forever electronic batmobile completely for 12 bucks with about 6 figures and 2 smaller vehicles all circa 1994 what a steal!!!!

Dude this is pretty damn cool for a toy that was made in the early 90's.
Kenner knew what they were doing. A great toy.
"Where does he get those wonderful toys?"
Kenner always made good action figures .
At *TOYS 'R' US* of course!... Oh, sorry...

Oh man, amazing. We had the Toy Biz one, which at the time, was fine, but yes was lacking. The Batman Returns one was my favorite thing ever though.

One of my favorite non-transfotmer, non-megazord toy I owned as a child. Thanks mom. Love you!
You deserve some sort of partnership with DC Comics
It is hard to find but you still could find it you want us to get it is the bat missile from Batman Returns that is a crown jewel at anyone's collection

The Batjet for this line is a repaint of the Silverhawks toyline's Sprinthawk vehicle
I need all batmobiles!
The best on screen Batman portrayal with Ben Affleck being second.
The one thing missing on this was the plastic cover “shields” that the Toybiz one had, that was a good feature. Dark Knight Collection was far superior however.
I just recently bought a bat missile now I have to buy this lol! This seems like a similar mold as the bat missile.
I still got my original. Unfortunately the canopy hinges are broke :(
Sorry to hear that. It was a common occurrence. Even one of my hinges is a little white with a bit of plastic fatigue. It a design flaw if you ask me.
Great toy! The Toy Biz is only let down by the lack of roof, the two seat design is far better than the Kenner version, but Kenner wins every time for being closer in look!
I didn't have that Batmobile, but I did have the Batcycle pictured on the back.
Great review! I just found my one with the original box. Sadly missing the inside cardboard, would really appreciate if you could send me a pic of your one so i could make a new template?
Where could I track down the missle? I got one for under 100 bucks, but no missle: (
You mean just one of the missiles is missing? Not sure. Try eBay perhaps? Good luck!
I have only one Batmobile toy scaled to fit action figures.
Unfortunately, it is not this one.
If you keep your eye out for it I bet you can find a good condition one for a bit lower price.
Def the best Batmobile toy hands down.
Guessing that the missile launcher on the front is to represent how the bomb dropped off of the front when the Batmobile blows up Axis Chemicals. They just made it a bit simpler.
Going full nerd here, but the bombs actually dropped out of the center of each wheel when in cocoon mode.
Awesome review! I had this as well.
Kenner made toys fun. I miss them .
Hey brad do you know a way to dye the dcm super friends batman cape
Toy Biz had a few versions and that one you showed with the fat face is awful lol. They thought the same apparently and made a better one.
Amazing toy, I love watching it 😍
I really miss Kenner toys they were the best.
You're not crazy. That is the cools batmobile of all time.
When it drives over snow or dirt does it leave bat tire tracks? LOL It had that in the movie and I always wondered why?
Loved the video! This is one of my favorites, as well. Such a great toy! Keep up the great work. - Brian (Collectingthebat on Instagram)
As a kid. I'll never forget cause I sat with my mom and filled out all the stuff and was waiting forever (literally) for it to arrive.
I use to have this as a kid loved it and then it got lost in a move
Hello! A question: what are the dimensions of that Batmobile?
RIGHT STUFF.................ALL THE BEST !!!
was a good video, umm ive never seen that one i know about the one with the open top. i didnt have these as a kid so as an adult id like to. where did u happen to find that one? if u dont mind
I love my super powers bat mobile
Ah, but did you send away for the armor cover?
Excellent video great content
Btw that batjet is a repainted silver hawks vehicle.
Think the SHF 89 Batman would fit in there? He's pretty damn small.
I WANT THAT BATMOBILE!!!
BAAAAT MAAAAN NA NA NA NA BAAAT MAAAAN!......Oh wrong theme sorry about that!
geez 92 was the time i was too into power rangers. They dun make toys like that now
Disagree the toybiz batman was actually easier to fit in that batmobile.
I’m so early I’ll tell a joke
Dc universe classics prices and availability
Nicholas ComicFan the real joke is Multiverse character selection. It's a real Crisis I tells ya. Just not the good kind. Instead of worlds dying, the only thing getting killed is my interest.
I know what you mean. Why haven’t they given us a red hood or (this may be just my interest but...) a classic original costume Kyle Rayner. It is a joke.
@@ImpulseCase99 red hood is (hopefully) coming was shown at SDCC
RE Proof of Purchase, sometimes companies like Kenner would run promos to send otherwise unobtainable products if you mailed in your proofs. I got a blue ninja GI Joe with a hover boat this way.
